Queen ll is an amazing album I think they even called it a night at the opera one. It showed Freddy's ambitious songwriting and you knew it was coming by this album so many great moments here
I saw them on this tour in Plymouth, Devon. Knew we had found something special even then. Freddie threw his tambourine into the crowd. It hit me on the head. I still have it. The tambourine, that is.

I was 15 when I first saw Queen in 73. What is clear, even from this tape, is that they can all play. By 1986, the rhythmn section was like a ticking clock they were that good. Taylor and Deacon were the real secret weapon of the live performances.
I think they were supporting Mott the Hoople on this UK tour before Queen II was even released. I once spoke to someone who saw them at Leeds University on the same tour and the audience demanded they play their set again instead of Mott they were that good!! 🎸🎸🎤
I was too young, but my friend's older sister saw them on that tour (Chatham, Kent). She went to see Mott the Hoople, who let's face it, were also a great band! But she was blown away by Queen and became a fan. I wasn't aware of them until I heard Killer Queen in 1974, and an older friend played us the Sheer Heart Attack album. Didn't get to see them live until 1980 but wish I'd seen them in this period too!
Roger Taylor and Brian May have completely re- mixed The entire first album to their liking in the way they always intended it to be. It's going to be a box set that's going to be released later and the first album is going to be called Queen One now instead of just queen. And it will include a never-released track on the album. Plaza will include a video of the song The night comes down

The songs not on the original album are Mad The Swine (2024 Mix in it's original intended place, and Take 3), See What A Fool I've Been (De Lane Lea), Hangman (live), I'm A Man (live). See What A Fool I've Been has been left off the BBC Sessions disc, probably due to space.
Wow, earliest I've heard any of their live performances, you can sense the era and the hunger of a talented band. Saw them a few times from 1980 onwards, always fantastic but I'd love to go back and experience an early Queen show.
And its not the earliest recording we have of them! The earliest show we have right now is Golders Green (September 13th 1973). But the Queen I boxset will release 2 tracks from August 1970. I'm honestly excited for that part.
