Hi, I'm Kate! I just graduated from USC with my business degree and now I’m pursuing a second BS in nursing! I love making videos about school, food, lifestyle, my pet hamster, and motivation. Join me in this crazy mess called life :D
I started in a fast food sit down restaurant then moved to retail and it was such a great way to get basic people skills and grow! It helped me get a lot of jobs later on and I noticed my friends who didn’t work in college this became harder for them and they didn’t have a sense of workplace urgency when helping people.
this was super helpful as someone also hoping to get a second degree in nursing!! thank u sm for taking the time to explain all this and wishing u all the best in your journey 🫶 we got this :’))
What if the two year community college has only a accounting program but the 4 year I will transfer has finance and I want a finance major and accounting minor
@@Messup7654 I am also studying at a community college in Business Administration and will be transferring as an accounting student at a four year school. I think you will also have the opportunity to get tuition reimbursement. I think that pathway would be fine, a lot of staff accountant job postings usually accept either Accounting or Finance majors. But make sure you at least get an internship in auditing or tax, that’ll help.
Serve in the military for 4 years. College will be paid for, plus you will earn other lifetime benefits. Military service will also open doors socially and in employment.
See I’ve been wanting to take your path. Work on a general degree in undergrad and do an accelerated nursing degree after. Maybe go back for marketing/economics but a different school.
Haiii~ I just wanted to give some advice as someone that was in your exact position last year. My situation is a little bit different; as, I am actually starting an MEPN program in California this fall. I really recommend you look into that as well. My program is 2 years and gives you a public health certification which is ultimately what I wanted to do. Also, my school is connected to an official hospital which, hopefully, helps in the upcoming job market. It may seem daunting now; but, everything will work out! Oh! I do want to preface. An MEPN program is usually more expensive then an absn program. Hope this helpss! Let me know if you have any questions~ I also got into a couple of absn programs as well so you can ask me about anything :)
If you have trouble getting into an absn in California going out of state is a good option. I live in the bay area and went to Missouri for a 12 month absn and got a job in California right away after passing the nclex when i came back. Not in a hospital though but even students who go to nursing schools here have trouble getting into the bay area hospitals without experience.
I remember coming across your channel during COVID, and I was still taking pre-reqs for Nursing🥹 flash forward, I’m now a new grad NICU nurse and it’s amazing to hear you start your nursing journey too! The next few years will definitely be a lot to take in, but just remember everything is temporary!! Good luck Kate!❤
girl the job market is so scary rn im literally so nervous and thinkin of pursuing a MBA after i graduate this coming spring bc i fear i wont get a job w/ just my BS in strategic communication 😭 maybe i shoulda stuck w nursing (i did nursing my freshman yr)
it's good that you enjoyed stoichiometry bc when you do dimensional analysis for med math in nursing school it's very similar XD good luck w/ everything 💗
Omgg I love this video so much!! I immediately subscribed! I’m going through the exact route I’m starting my junior year of business school and honestly I’m constantly thinking about nursing bc it was my original route but I’ve had an eye out for bussiness/ accounting so I switched. But if I don’t have a job lined up for graduation I’ll be doing this exact route. It’s so interesting how many people can relate. wishing you all the success!!
do you have to be low income to qualify for free tuition? i also live in the bay and have been paying tuition for all my cc classes while in uni and im middle income. i thought u had to be low income to qualify but maybe im wrong and have been missing out lol !!
It depends on the school, but Cali has some cc that are fully free, period! You should totally look into it more bc we pay so much in taxes so might as well take advantage 🎀
omg i'm from sj and currently in sfsu's BSN program! from what i've seen, sf looks at u as a whole and in my opinion the personal statement and healthcare experience is how i got in.

My school didn't tell us we had a PSAT in october for (freshman) and were planning to tell us 2 weeks before the actual test. I found out from my friend who is a year older than me today so now I have like 1-2 months to get ready 😭Still better than 2 weeks 🤷♀
This is really late but I'm planning on taking the PSAT in my sophomore year (this year) and the SAT when I'm a junior... will these benefits still be applicable to me??
