If you like drums, cymbals and gear you have come to the rite place! We are going to talk about hardware, put on some heads, talk about Zildjian, Sabian, Pearl and Gibraltar products. I do have a love for Pearl drums, and will be playing only pearl drums, along with Roland Electronic Drums.. This channel is geared more for the beginning drummer, I want to give them a guide to help them get going... I started playing back in 1997, on a old Rodgers kit in white. I started doing drum covers using a Yamaha DTX I bought from a local music shop around 2018. In 2023 I now own a Roland TD25 set, along with several other Pearl kits I have put together and talked about rite here on the channel.. I do hope you (the viewer) find this channel to be entertaining and educational. Again, this channel is geared more to help out beginning drummers, I was self taught and I am in no way the greatest drummer. I will not be spending any time doing drum solo videos and I have NO interest in Your's. Thank U
Looks comfortable I got one from Ludwig saddle style throne I had a l Old one from the 80’s made in tiwan and my finally gave out on me just collapsed.😂my ass would get numb after playing a gig 😬
Very Nice application of that logo @DrumTalk ! I like the font on that "Pearl" logo. Do you print your own stickers on a printer ? Very cool my dude ! Cheers !🍻
Hey bro, I clamped that pearl m80 snare you sent me to the rack of the silver sparkle kit, its awesome! It sits just left under the hi-hat. I am actually going to have 2 pieces of 7/8 pipe cut so I can mount it cleaner to the rack clamp, along with another clamp that sits to the left of that , that will hold a stick holder. 👍 It's going to be cool
@@Prizmatic1658 That silver sparkle kit is cool man!!! Hopefully you can find room to mount the rest of that stuff i sent with the snare it would all go great on that kit man!!!!
I was playing along on bass. Really nice job - Well Done!

I have this same bag! Bought it back around 2008-ish maybe? Don't remember where I bought it from, but I bought the camo one and the checkered flag one at the same time.
Hey I just ordered this in combo with 12” wuhan. Do you know the difference between the sc-gca vs the gca? I looked up their site. I can’t tell the difference. Thanks man
@@Prizmatic1658 one of the stores online z or sweet had both listed together: $35 I think. I’ll get 1 kind with that wuhan. Prob next order I’ll get the other one- I mean either way I’ll find a use for it. I just started about 3 weeks ago! Got 7pc Tama and am leaning everything on the fly. Thanks man
Just watching this and some other your vids. Killer info. I have a question- is Gibraltar SC-DCT-BT Cymbal Brake Tilter (I just ordered one)… are there any other bit less spendy that can add multi cymbals to horizontal stand. Thanks good info vids!
Yes there is! the standard cymbal boom from Gibraltar is a great option. You will need a rack clamp, but i would go with the SC-4425B it is the standard cymbal boom tilter and it sells for 40$ or if you need a shorter style the SC-4425MB is the mini boom, it sells for 35$
All good points @Drum talk ! That white head looks good with that off white bass drum! The possibilities are endless !! When I use the Pearl bass drum, I use a cymbal stand out of the Tom mount, it gets the cymbal a little bit closer., and so I don't have to jockey around the cymbal stand legs on the floor. I have all black drum heads on my black kit. I like the dark sound & the dark look. I haven't used a rack yet, not sure I like the industrial look of it, Be good for rehearsal space efficiency tho. Cheers Buddy !!
I bet you're black heads look cool. You should do a video of your set up id like to see what you have arranged.. i do agree, the rack isn't something I would use on every setup, only when it's really needed, i think drums look best with just a few cymbals on stands, but if you need more than a few it becomes crowded.
Hi! Thanks for your nice comments! I I do have about 6 snares in my collection, tho I think this is my last one, I don't mean to collect to many. I only have pearl drums, so I just looked for different drums by the company, to try.. so, i have a steel snare, a pearl masters, and pearl session snare, both middle level snares in wood. And then 2 piccolo snares.. steel and wood. So this way I can try different models and switch with different drum kits.
13 seems like a good idea, less leg spread and more portable same with the piccolo, and I usually like the more funky snap of a piccolo anyways.. I'm looking into getting a Peavey Radial Pro kit though, but will try to see if I can get the 13" snare or maybe get the kit without the snare, and get a different one, as the snare is a different design and concept from the rest of the Radial drums.
Popcorn is awesome man !! We use "Amish" popcorn, it comes in blue, red, and purple, and is very tasty ! I've never heard of Flavacol, thanks for the info ! Cheers !🍿🍿
This is the only video I’ve found that has Pearl “ECX Export maple Custom” drums in it. I bought me a 4 piece one up two down configuration of the ECX drums and I was blown away with how good they sound. From what i found, these drums are relatively rare. Only made in 2006 from the left over “Pearl session maple” shells & lugs. The hoops are different though. Still amazing sounding drums!
I bought a Pearl ELX 18 inch floortom a couple of years ago, it's sort of a sky blue colour. I was hoping you would mention what kind of wood it's made of, it feels very light, and the wood feels kind of soft, like I could mark it with my fingernail quite easily, so i was a bit dissapointed about that, because I'm about to cover it with white marine pearl wrap, and that stuff is quite expensive. There was also something very strange about this drum, i just took the heads off a few days ago, and a very strong smell came out of that drum, i don't know what it is, if it's the glue , or someone threw up in it , or something died in there, I mean it really stinks, the other toms in the set that I also wrapped are Pearl Masters custom maple, I got a good deal, a 10, 12, 14, & 16 for $300. Canadian money, the wrap cost more than the drums ! So anyways now I'm not sure I want to wrap the 18 inch, if it's made of poplar or some cheap soft wood. what do ya think ?
Nice drum cover! I like that you can hear the sticks hitting the pads slightly over the electronic drum sounds. I remember at my wedding reception we had a band called Picture This. I can't remember what drums they were playing but I do remember the ride cymbal was like a black rubber triangle and I was thinking what the heck is that. This was 1989 by the way. Our song was The Finer Things by Steve Winwood. I can only think it must have been a Yamaha electronic cymbal or maybe whole set. I should try to find pictures. In 2003 I got a Yamaha Dtxpress ii. And those cymbals are triangular rubber pads. I don't know if these existed in 1989 or not but that's all I remember. Thank you!
nice! the finer things was another great tune, one of my favorites as well. i will say, i like the sound of the pads being hit in the video, because it is proof i am actually playing. if you watch others do drum covers with electronic drums, you will see them hit pads and no sound will come out. They may actually be faking the whole song or just have pads turned off, not sure but i have noticed a lot of this, especially in drum cover videos of very difficult songs, that seem like the drummer never misses a hit, its absolutely perfect... it cant be that perfect, we all make slight mistakes lol.
Both of those crash cymbals are sweet. One can find excellent deals on Reverb music, ebay, or Guitar Center for affordable used cymbals. I see the 20" El Sabor ride out there now to complete your set. ( 200.00) That 24" must bring down the house. I picked up a Sabian 16" XS20 rock crash that is vocal with a stunning bell. Also picked up a Sabian 18" SR2 medium thin crash that also has a sustain that keeps giving 😅...another huge bell. Most of these SR2'S that are refurbished have been hand picked through but everyone's taste is different. Quality cymbals can be had...even if you have to return a few. The new stratus line are gorgeous also.
Wow! What a tribute. Don't know how I found this but I appreciate it. Yes if you are in Ocala we should go out for lunch or something. Thanks for loving my music. I will send this to Gene.
Hi Jeff! i am glad you found my video. i also got your message about Gene, its good to hear he is still doing well. thank you so much for also sending him the message. i had no idea how to reach him or if he was even still alive and well..
great idea using the snare arm for the module, I have the same setup with the toms and bought another cymbal pad on ebay ...now that I have this hi-hat which isn't very good DTX 522k kit I have thoughts of upgrading the hi hat, but with my setup I don't have room for a hi-hat stand,...uggggg
Steel is harder than bronze so it will damage the cymbal. In the old days there was damage to cymbals, so your argument is invalid. Bottom line cymbal companies recommend felt washers AND plastic sleeves. If you don't do what cymbal companies with all their experience recommends you're being wilfully ignorant.
