How the "slum" has come of age, not much change out of a million dollars for a dingy old terrace house in need of renovation in 2024! Former boarding/doss houses and "half way" terrace cottages worth a fortune now. Had a mate who lived in a terrace at Pyrmont in the mid 1970's and it was a rough little place to live. Great video of a bygone era in Sydney.
you have to replace the elco capacitors on these old units, don't wait till they blow, it won't cost a lot, also replace does shitty rca cables for better ones
This was the first demolition for the City West Initiative even though it was launched in October that year. Last used in 1971 when the air quality was appalling. Rumor has it that Walter Burley Griffin designed the interior of the Predator spaceship in that 1990 Danny Glover movie. Recession over here, nothing but jackhammers and cranes from now on.
I would never move a wire or a bundle with vintage electronics like this. As an aircraft mechanic that works on 1960-1970's aircraft - any wire in place for decades degrades over time. More times then not the wire will break when disturbed. I would use air supply regulated to less than 20psi. This has shown great results and does not disturb components or electronics. Make sure to purge of moisture and you are good to go! Good video man!
At 5:10 in the video I can see a lump on the plastic cover for the main board is that normal? My SL1200 MKII has the same lump and I don't know whether it is supposed to be like that or if it warped by the heat from two resistors under that spot R201 and R213 that reach 118F and 132F respectively is that supposed to happen?
I never knew this happened til today. Stunned and saddened. Cant believe so many recall this horrific event after so long when there were no mobile phones at the time. :(
One consequence of this accident is that single engine aircraft are no longer permitted to fly directly over the cbd, they must stick to assigned air routes, helicopters generally over the chopper lanes of the Parramatta river and fixed wing east of the bridge and north of the southern shore of the harbour
