I always end up crying just like her when I watch this scene. It's a relief in a way to capture some emotion as I often feel nothing in this crazy world. Truly brilliant acting on both parts.
Such a masterpiece, like literally, a master piece. One of the most intense, shaken, heartfelt scenes with pure raw emotion that really pierced your heart. A scene that makes you feel tensed and sad as if that happened to you, a scene truly memorable, legendary, as well as iconic & one of the scenes that really made the movie. A film with so much build-up, filled with raw emotions and feelings with a film that is truly memorable, unforgettable, legendary, and filled with emotions that you honestly can't help but feel alongside the characters & the emotional story behind it, especially what happens at the end which just makes this film turn to a sudden turn of just pure sadness especially with the build-up & how emotionally intense it was. A film & song where its just pure black and white, a film & song that has such strong emotions & feelings from/to your heart. Its a film where you just feel pure raw emotion as if you're the character or if you're seeing it first hand in person. A film with such a perfect selection of a cast with such underrated actors such as Jean Reno, Natalie Portman debuting in her first ever film which launched her acting career, Gary Oldman, and so many others. A film with such an emotional bond that you honestly can't explain it fully, its something that you honestly have to feel it to experience it. Its a film that's meant to be experienced through emotion, not through explanation just like Leon whenever you would see his character's facial expressions of what he would feel, like the amount of strong emotion behind it, is incredible, especially towards the end of the movie where you'd expect it to end off in a happy ending but it ends sadly. It can't be described fully in words, just through your own heart & emotion, especially with how perfect the film was, like there's no flaws with it. It's a film filled with strong emotional, action-packed storyline and soundtracks that honestly make you feel sad for Leon and Mathilda as if you're a part of them. Jean Reno truly nailed the performance like hes so underrated, and it really shows the amount of talent Natalie had which started her career in one of the greatest films of all time like all the roles were nailed perfectly. Its just a masterpiece. Not only that but this movie didn't have much of a budget either, and it turned out to be so successful and one of the greatest films of all time, which you can't deny, its something that everyone agrees on, like it or not, it is. Luc Besson the director literally nailed it & also proved how even at the time you didn't need that need such a huge budget to accomplish these things, and what an era it was, and what a big name for European Films if not the greatest European film, in comparison with American films that need such a big budget to accomplish the effects, it really shows the difference between the two as all thats needed is raw emotion. Such a masterpiece, a film like I said filled with such an emotional bond that you honestly can't explain it fully, its something that you honestly have to feel it to experience it. Truly unforgettable, memorable and much more. I honestly wish it got more credit that it was unfortuantely given, it honestly deserved so much credit, especially an award for Jean Leno and his performance. Such a perfect selection, such a perfect story, film, and of course music selection. One of the few films where you experience raw emotion, and feelings. Like even the trailer itself is just amazing. A film that you honestly feel through your heart, its just heartfelt like the emotions of the film just go through your heart and makes you feel it as if you're one of the characters especailly as Leon and Maltithda, and not only that but heartbroken as well, especially at the end of the film where you see a flash of light slowly entering and then fading away knowing that hes passed & finally achieved the peace he wanted, while also having something to loose for, and love with actual roots being placed - a meaning for him which was Maltithda. Like even now, when I watched this movie, I still feel the emotions thats how strong it is, its attached, especially every time when you look back to it and it always hits you over and over again. Like it's just unexplainable, you can try your best to explain it, but its something you just gotta feel for yourself like I said and its so emotionally intense. 5 stars. A film that literally hit me hard so many times in my feelings, and made me realize the true meanings of love & life, purpose. regret, change and gave me a perspective, a will, a reason, change - everything. It literally has so many messages, and feelings, of dreams, hopes, and roots. Like man this film just changes you, pure chills, pure tears, pure emotion, pure sadness and much more as well. So much to say, its honestly endless, with so many emotions & feelings.
What a scene. A truly unforgettable masterpiece, and a touching film. With such a perfect cast of the Underrated Jean Reno, Natalie Portman, Gary Oldman, and so many others, it literally created a film that was perfect with such a strong emotional, action-packed storyline and what a soundtrack. Honestly, one of the very few films, that you can truly say has no flaws, and one that everyone can agree is perfect. With such a low budget to work with, created a true masterpiece, A film, that'll never be forgotten.
doesn't that always seem to be the way, the budget movie is the best and the big money ones lose something? I always thought the first Terminator was the most believable and chilling and the others lost the edge in the vast destruction and special effects. Leon is so 'ordinary' in it's setting with the lived in look of the apartments and street scenes and the action was so believable even when it wasn't. Even the first Taken had something that was lost as soon as the criminals had kidnapped all his family, I heard the next Taken involves a team who have taken his ride on lawn mower and now he wants it back.........
This is basically a part in all our lives. We lose many things we love. We are forced to face experiences that will make us irritated, bitter, or scared for life. We really want to die. Then when we had a chance, somebody stopped us. We agree doubtfully about staying alive, but in a long time, you will thank those who stopped you. There have been many historical examples of people stopping near suicide victims and they live on to thank them for life. I heard that a navy sailor named Don Ritchie lived next to a cliff where many people have high dived to kill themselves. He would intervene, block their path, and bring the near victims to his home. Then they would talk, and when the visitor agreed to live on, he would let him out. Between 180 and 500 unreplaceable human lives were saved, and those people would live on with a happier life, and thank the man for allowing them to experience the joys of life that they would never have met if they were to die. He would eventually be gone in 2012, but many of the people he saved would allow him to live on in our lives. If there were more people, I remember one time when I struggled in high school. I had a rude classmate who rejected me and started making mean comments about me. I also had a mean teacher, and my grades were not going well. I also was constantly getting in trouble there as well. One day, I mixed up some poisonous chemicals to drink, but before I could finish, my cat came in and wanted me to feed him. Afterwards, I spent some time with him and my suicidal thoughts were gone. Now 5 years has passed. I am currently a 2nd year college student, and I have a RU-vid channel, many experiences that I never predicted could happen, and a talent of being modifying and improving objects. I often create objects out of cardboard and other recyclable trash, and post them on social media. Of course, after college, my life deteriorated back, but this time, I didn't, don't, and never will want to hurt myself anymore. Thanks to support from family, my talents, and of course, my cat, I am still alive to write this comment and do many more things that I never predicted would happen. If I were to die when I planned, I would never discover my creativity or go through great memories with other people. I still have my cat, and this event has wanted me to continue to live. Remember, life is limited time. It may be long, but it only comes once. Once you die, you can't be brought back. Also, you are unreplaceable. You are unique to everyone. Yes, death may be important to keep space for the world and bring new people, but none of them can replace you. No human deserves to die, regardless of their actions. They just need the right support, motivation, and to believe that better things will come eventually. It is what you choose to see that keeps you alive.
I love how even though Reno portrayed Leon as "a bit slow" his reaction is goddamn fantastic, I'll tell ya that. Really expands the inner world of Leon.
I always thought its coz his french keeps self to self not used to company. Then few days ago see a video about him acting slow . I don't know if I thought this before or not . I got think thou a man now in care of a child with what he does . Your gonna be a certain way
Uh, yeh. And she ain't even NINETEEN yet. (that's when full frontal *bitch* comes out!) Should of just shelled out the $2.39 for the MOP. *(you know, for afterwards) - 🪦⚰⚱ ☝😐
Probably why Gary and Rene did the papa wolf thing. Apparently they watched every scene she was in on set. Gary acts crazy too well not to be a nutcase and Rene seems like the type that grew up around a Leon.
@@nunyabuissness8058 I see. Maybe it would be a good start if you actually tried adventuring yourself, rather than wishing to be someone else. What do you think?
As they say, she was only 12 years old. And she was already so good an actress... Nathalie Portman was at her very beginning ! Even you play with J.Reno, G.Oldman and D. Aiello, it may help (if they did it, because If not, if you imagine being in her shoes) all the film relies on you. What a pressure) ! Nevertheless, I discovered her and I'm persuaded that she acted her best film ever...
