This song is amazing. I had contacted Asleep at the Wheel, the band that is playing on stage at the dance. I was referred to one of the former singers. She told me that there was no recording of this song outside of the movie. I searched for the soundtrack, nothing. This song is such a great song. This scene in the movie is epic. They come together, acknowledging their feelings and realizing that the world is theirs for the taking. Breaking the shackles that society has established, rich girl - poor boy. I believe it's Matt Dillon's best movie. One that is definitely underrated.
Thank you so much for sharing that, it's a bit sad knowing that it wasn't recorded outside of the movie. I watched this movie for the first time last night, and found the alternate ending online, and it is such a lovely film.
@@myas.6485 I saw the alternate ending and was completely saddened. I'm glad that they decided to go with the one where she survived. It's truly a great movie.
The MOST UNDERRATED NEWSIES SONG!!!!! I think it is so underrated because this movie is so underrated! (The musical is popular but this movie is so underrated!)
@@CCClarinet12 I totally agree with both points! This one is awesome! I understand why they cut "Lovey Dovey" out of the musical, but why they cut "High Times" as well I will never understand.
The Good old Days When movies had real purpose and specially the old disney ones instant classic and truly a rare gem 💎 of are lifetimes that only gets more respect and better with age
While this song isn't perfect, I don't understand how it "won" Worst Original Song. It gets stuck in my head a lot and I think it's a pretty cute song 💙
Stupid critics this song in this whole movie are really great and I wouldn't doubt if this is kind of the story The paperboy is that raised the money to get the Statue of Liberty
It might just be as simple as there not being a worse original song that year. But to be honest, this song has always been soured for me by what happens to her character in the end. It's so clear she's about to get raped, and that is just not what I expect from a Disney musical. And one by Kenny Ortega, at that. Imagine him just wantonly throwing rape into the Descendants franchise. I mean, I'd definitely watch that, but damn.
can we just take a moment to appreciate all the work that the background actors put into this. most people dont notice them but they still are acting as if the camera is on them and people will notice them, i admire that.
@Savannah I guess, but back then these clubs were considered ludw and inappropriate. So its kinda weird they send undarage boys to look at these 1900s strippers.
