My brother fell from a height of 250meters. He's diagnosed with TBI & DAI. He opened his eyes after 4 weeks its been almost 3 months that he's been in the hospital but showing very little response... His right frontal and temporal lope are injured along with the basal ganglia. he's been on and off the ventilator for a few weeks but now he's having respiratory problems and is currently fully on ventilator support.. I wonder why is that the case ?

Hello, I turn 57 in a few days time and I've been a T2 diabetic for many years. This is the first time I have ever heard of a Back/Spine/Diabetes connection. My A1C is at 7, I am on the Trulicity/Tresiba/and a Novo Rapid combo. Due to Ozempic misuse in Montreal/Quebec at large, those who need it cannot get it. I've been on a waiting list for months now. I have stenosis in L3/4/5. I also have nerve compaction in T4/5. Also on a waiting list for spinal treatment. I've been living on drug maintenance for years now (Pregabalin/EX-St Tylenol), seeing that proper treatment for our public medical system is not available. BUT, if you can afford it, the Private route is there, for those with deep pockets. They will prescribe certain drugs for me but due to fluctuating kidney issues, I don't have access to any other form of oral medications. My options are very limited to what is available and what is possible. My back issues range from not being able to walk 3 blocks to grocery shop without having to stop and rest, amid the trip, and droning back pain that sometimes takes my breath away. Nobody seems to be in a hurry to find me viable treatment options, due to the fact that the public system here, is woefully lacking across specialized medicine for public access.
Hi doctor! I have mine scheduled September. My surgeon is using a titanium patch on the skull as well. What are your thoughts here? I’ve heard a lot of good things, but nervous about it.
Hi all my name is trev i Have Hydrocephalus and i must be one of the lucky one my shunt doz not work i saw 9 years young and it stoped i am 63years young now and no trable
Are we not going to talk about the only not qualified to be in the operating room - the "neurosurgery" NP? I was shocked because no other MD or DO's who specialized in other fields cannot get the same access. I said what I said. Patients first.

My baby has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus & has been delivered prematured (25 days before delivery date). Is being treated using Omaya with daily taping requirement. Since last 15 days there is no requirement of taping. What can we conclude... require your suggestion.. Regards
Thank you for your question. A complete review of the patient case would be needed to give accurate advice on treatment and prognosis. I would recommend communicating with the treating provider.
That's a great question and is very difficult to generalize as there are many variables that will affect the final out of pocket cost to the patient. Hospital fees, surgeon fees, and anesthesia fees can be different and each insurance plan will have different benefits.
Summit Medical Institute supplying Arc'Teryx jackets, you know you're in good hands! PS These doctors are the future of the world, incredible work for humanity!
Doing unnecessary surgeries that won’t really help your patients, maybe some of them temporarily, but mostly it’s for money, to keep the hospital going. You know this deep down
@@samuellambertmurrayduncan1412 Truth only needs to be mentioned once. Regardless, it's common knowledge to hear unethical practices in the medical field. It's just unfortunate.

June 2024 I had a consultation with Dr. Edward‘s office his PA based on the findings via MRI. said they would do MIS TLIF Based on a neurological journal’s own statistics, roughly one in four fusions fail, or the patient gets worse, sounds like Russian roulette to me only worse, 1 in 4 v.s. 1in 6. With a laminectomy, you can never unring the bell, I’m hoping they make advances ADR artificial disc replacement with only an 8% failure rate would be my choice accepting that I have a spondylolisthesis and I’ve been told I’m not a candidate. So I guess I just get to live with this. It’s been 12 years since my herniation 24 seven fun for the whole family.
Thank you for watching and I appreciate your comment. Risk vs benefit should be considered in every case and are unique to each individual. Hoping for the best for you.
@@RH-gz7or Goobie's thinking is existential, which doesn't mix well with neurosurgery. He should have done ortho or something "easier" where the routine is mundane and you see the progress in your patients. Replacing ACLs all day isn't hard and you see your patients improve over time in the majority of cases. He's allowed to have his opinions but neurosurgery is not one big scam.
I'm going back to school and I'm going to be a pre-med as well. I want to be a general surgeon. I also really enjoy the "day in the life" videos. Gives a glimpse into what the life is like and what this career can look like!
I have congenital hydrocephalus. I have been lucky as I have only had 3 shunts and I am 53. It is possible to "outgrow" hydrocephalus or the need for a shunt. I ask as during some x-rays for an unrelated issue, it was discovered the my catheter is all broken up and was referred to a neurosurgeon who looked at the x-rays and past CT scans, we don't trust an MRI as we don't know if my shunt has any metal so I only do CT scans. My current shunt was installed around '76 or '77. I am not looking for a medical diagnosis but information. I haven't had any issues with my shunt since it was put in. I have just haven't heard of anyone "outgrowing" the need for a shunt.
Thank you for your comment. It's not that a person will "outgrow" the need for a shunt, but rather more often we will see that the shunt becomes less effective and thus patient may elect to stop using them or have them removed.
Do not get a disc replacement surgery….they are a con…..they have so many problems that they have to be taken out. Fusion is the best surgery. Yes it’s a longer recovery but it works and it’s for life, it will not pop out, calcify, cause hypermobility or break. Only fusions deal with neck pain ( facet joint pain) with disc prolapse.
Thank you for your comment. There are always risks and benefits with every intervention and these should be appropriately evaluated with your treating provider before making decisions.
Thank you for your comment, that is a valid concern. Everyone has a little different response, but it can be painful. Any concerns should be addressed with the treating provider beforehand to ensure a manageable experience.
I had a thymectomy (thoracic removal of tumor). The back of my arm and the right side of my chest is partially numb and partially painful to the touch. No change at all in one month. Any recommendations?
One month is still early on in the healing process. I would be hopeful that further improvement can still be made. Thank you for watching. This is a reasonable concern to discuss with your treating provider.
There are multiple factors that can influence the cost of a procedure. Fees will come from the surgeon and an assistant if present, anesthesia, the facility, the device used, as well as any other provider if a hospital stay is required. I would recommend discussing this with your treating provider to get an accurate estimate.
