Nice journey and video. Couple of questions: are most roads suitable for a road bike with wide tires ? And what's your experience with car drivers ? I read riding in Portugal is dangerous compared to other countries, which puts me off a little. Cheers !
A lot of those roads felt pretty uncomfortable with my surly ogre that has 29/2.5’ tires so a road bike may not be the best for some areas. Can’t remember how cars were, but definitely don’t copy the same route I did from kommooot as it went through a bunch of private property. Thanks for watching!
@@billpetersen298 I think I ran into one but it ran off before I could see it. Cougars are the real danger but you won’t see them coming. Regardless, nothing to worry about, I don’t carry bear spray.
@matthiaskenton7862 I can't wait Mate! you should honestly get in contact with some independent journalists about your story and journey it would definitely increase your following this sort of content is so underrated you deserve a huge social media following to help you out even if it's just words of encouragement
A tip if you ever repeat the trip: by taking the ferry at S. Jacinto, you missed beautiful trails along Ria de Aveiro. The road that goes to the ferry is very beautiful, but also not the safest for cyclists. Crossing Varela bridge before takes you to the Ria paths and allows you to avoid most of that road.
@@matthiaskenton7862 there's also a little mistake in the video. When you say you are in Viana do Castelo you're actually showing images of Ponte de Lima. Both are close by in location.
Not too sure due to how remote some of the portions are. I would refer to the route on bikepacking.com and see the pin points they suggest. Thanks for watching
This was a collection of random routes but I think you could find more paved paths for the whole coast. The person who made the route must have liked making it harder than it needed to be. 🤣
really enjoyed traveling along with you. i'm in van and plan on doing the KVR this summer so this was really helpful! look forward to seeing more from you
Inspiring bro , you must be what 19 and you did it all solo, I’ve been considering doing bike camping I’m 23 now also from Vancouver , I had planned on doing a southern Vancouver island trip last year but due to me just being lazy and procrastinating I ended not doing it, just seeing the cool adventure you had makes me jealous I ought to do it this year. Anyway I subbed hopefully you upload more videos man
Thanks for your reply, I have been away from the bike for a little bit due to school but you have motived me to get back on it. Will try and push something out soon!
