No they are not. The rivalry between England and Australia date back to 1886, back when Indians and Pakistanis hadn't even heard of a game called 'cricket'. The first two international teams to ever play the game, England and Australia. Ashes has history, legacy, fire and drama like no other. I can say, because I am originally Indian, I go for team India and Australia. There is no rivalry like the Ashes. You don't even know the long history and resemblance of it.

Only kings and royal families were allowed to play cricket before that. International cricket took place when England used to play against a ‘Convict Nation - Australia’ in Australia. Then came birth to a revolutionary test match, where an Australian team sailed to England to play a good game of cricket, in 1882. The favourites were obviously England, never had Australia, whom at the time were the only cricket playing nation other than that of England, even come close to win a match. Australia won, and the mistress of the captain of the English cricket team took the bails of the match, threw them into fire, then next morning, before the urn was going to be handed over to the Australian team for its victory, she grabbed *The Ashes* of the bails, opened the top of the urn, and buried the ashes into the urn. The urn, which carried *The Ashes* of the bails, was brought to Australia, and that resembled the death and complete insult to English cricket. A convict nation defeated the rich and respected team of England. Since then, both Australia and England have fought for the urn, and *The Ashes* . Both teams want to keep the urn.
