I just discovered S.J. Tucker this morning and definitely kind of dig her music. She kind of strikes me as a cross between Tori Amos and Blackmore's Night. Definitely going to check out more of her stuff and see what I think of it all!
I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS DaMN SONG FOR YEARS, THE LYRICS DON'T SHOW RESULTS ON GOOGLE. THERE WERE LITERALLY ONLY TWO RESULTS AND THEY WERE FROM TUMBLR
Wonderful song and the video is so well done. What kind of guitar is this? Definitely seems to be a carbon-fiber, acousto-electric, but doesn't seem to be a RainSong or McPherson. Curious.
That's a Composite Acoustics guitar, the Xi model, I think. Either that or the Cargo. CA went out of business for a while but were acquired by Peavey and started up again. They ain't cheap, but they sound real good.
Neptune can also refer to the deep abyss, the quandaries of life and sentience, the depths of mysteries. It holds the answer to the why, and only those who attain the answer, can escape his clutches.
+S.J.Tucker . You're a naturally pretty lady, when you have purple extensions and stuff like that you hide your lovely looks, it makes you look slightly artificial, not that it's really any of my business I suppose! As long as you are happy! some girls are shy about being pretty and feel like they are hiding... If you've ever felt like that.. You would be being silly.. Anyway!! You're a fantastic singer and a brilliant guitarist!! Cheshire kitten is an AMAZING track!!!! Nice one 😊.
I don't think I've ever seen a video this well directed. The sense of timing is impeccable. Her acting in it is incredible also. The waves actually look like they're dancing to the music.
I will definitely. I'm currently on the hunt for pagan music with equally good videos shot for them. It's for a Samhaine project. This seems to be one of three videos only shot which is a shame because she's the one pagan folkish performer who's work is actually done justice to by the video. She's leading the pack. But the music stands alone for sure.
+Eric Connor It probably won't surprise you that I've occasionally heard SJ do Tool covers live. She's also written some industrial tinged electronica.
my take on this song is different. My "lord of the deep" is my birth father, and flying away into new love's arms is me breaking away and learning to love properly. love isn't just between significant others. There was literally no light where he was, he blinded me. I'm still learning to see again through the flat spot on the back of my head. I'm learning to love, unlike back then when I thought I knew love. Just to help people think outside the box a bit.
+Andy Seigler I tend to see the song as a reference to Medusa, who had wings in some of the myths and who fled Poseidon. Shame about your family, though, sounds unpleasant. *Hugs*
Years ago I came to you down beneath your ripples submitting to the mystery of life beneath the waves. Years I floated near you swimming in your subterrain rocking in the opium embrace of Triton's tomb. Time I lost just fussing over every little thing you asked for let myself keep fading silver fishes through my skin. Somewhere I stopped breathing but I missed the kiss of air cut the waves and left you there and ne'er returned again. Someday in my castle keep where rumors fly and questions creep they'll say to me, what of the lord of the deep? I'll say I knew him once but he was asleep. There's no light where you are, my Neptune To the mountains I will fly, away from you Free from the waves into new love's arms back to the realm of the sky. Years ago I came to you in love and doomed to drowning beholden to the mystery of life beneath the waves Years I floated near you I will never see again how I could tarry in the opium embrace of Triton's tomb Time I lost, just fussing over every little thing you asked for let myself keep fading, silver fishes through my skin. Somewhere I stopped breathing but I missed the kiss of air I cut the waves and left you there and ne'er returned again. Someday in my castle keep where rumors fly and questions creep, They'll say to me, what of the lord of the deep? I'll say I knew him once, but he was asleep. There's no light where you are, my Neptune. To the mountains I will fly, out of this gloom, free from the waves into new love's arms, back to the realm of the sky. Years ago I came to you in love and doomed by what I knew and though I miss the mystery now of life beneath the waves Thin air's as sweet as water when your body begs to breathe and so I leave when I must leave don't weep for love I couldn't save All of us who dare to love are brave! There's no light where you are, my Neptune To the mountains I will fly, away from you! Free from the waves into new love's arms back where I belong! There's no light where you are, my Neptune! To the mountains I will fly, out of this gloom, free from the waves into new love's arms, back where I belong! Someday they will ask me (going back where I belong) and I will say Someday they will ask me they will say, what of the lord of the deep? And I will say, I'll say I knew him once but he was asleep. I'll say I knew him once. I'll say I knew him, I knew him, I knew him once...
