It's a vise on top of a vise that does what the vise already does. Everything you demonstrated at the end could have been done in the vise without the jig you made.
Anything that helps a process step improve is creative thinking…that is what wood working is all about…there are fifty different ways to do something, all you have to do is look it up you tube …so I applaud your approach!
I think this may be because it's in fast motion. A lot of videos seem to be doing this more often. It is better for it to be in real time. Anyway, that's true for me. Videos from dk builds and carpentak are preferable to me in that regard.
Your drill bit wandered off to the side a little bit, and you had quite a lot of flex, that resulted in a less accurate hole. I'm sure that accuracy was good enough for your project, but here are a few tips I've picked up over the years, to improve the accuracy and maybe make your life a bit easier: Had you cut a "V" shape into the bottom of your square block, you would have had a simple drill guide that automatically finds center. Size the hole to the diameter of your center punch, and you have an accurate marking tool. Then use a center drill first to start your hole, and get to final diameter with your usual drill bits and reamers. Another machinist's trick is to file a small flat spot on your round tubing, if you find that even a center drill hops out of your center punched hole. (Or center punch deeper--just make it light taps so you don't bend your round tubing. You can stick a block inside the tube for support if needed.) Hope this helps, and keep making vids!!
