Minor point from an LGW based pilot, we don't contact Director on departure, that is just for arrivals. On departure we contact London CTL on various frequencies, depending on the SID.
Hi, Thanks for your comment. There are some special procedures in place. This is due to the fact, that the ATC on Vatsim is rarely fully staffed. In particular it’s the procedure of the top-down system. The „higher“ ATC position takes over the duties of the „lower“ ones if not staffed. Therefore it may happen, that departing traffic is handed over to the director position at the Holding point and after take off to London CTL. If that’s what you‘re pointing out?
Thank you for still providing your high quality service at Gatwick, been on the network 4 years but sadly have to avoid gatwick if i dont want to deal with pilots who dont know how to fly their planes 😂
Hi, You just set up your sim and XPilot as you would do, if you want to fly. Then start Euroscope and your sim setup. In the standard configuration the Euroscope server should be running. Once connected through Euroscope go to XPilot and enter .towerview . It should then connect.
Am relatively new to Vatsim, but already made my first experiences and saw some stuff that should be avoided. Like at Gatwick specifically there is this tendency to only man Ground and not Tower. I had a near hit because of this. Some doofus didn't monitor Unicom properly, missed my consecutive calls for approach and managed to roll onto the active right as I was on short final in low visibility. I only heard his announcement of take-off and had to tell him to abort immidiately. Luckily Gatwick has a displaced threshhold and he was still at the upper end of that, so I could just land past him without having to go around. Ground was manned, but not Tower. Aircraft can find their way around an airport without a ground controller, but self seperation and managing start and landings when there is just one active runway when ceiling is below 1000feet is a different story. When an airport is IFR and a controller is at the airport they should man at least Tower if not even Approach and not just Ground.
It's because of the way rank works in VATSIM. You have to start as a Delivery controller, then Ground, then Tower and so on. In your situation the person was only trained to handle Ground controlling. At least one ATC is better than none, but due to waiting times they can't train both Ground and Tower at once.
I was at hannover on vatsim and the whole time I could hear gatwick ground for some reason even tho I wasnt on frequency + I was at hannover. 24 minutes into it and im on the runway about to takeoff but decide to restart the sim to try and sort the issue. Well, what do you know I find out this video was playing in the background 😭
Tried to learn this stuff to become a controller for ZOB but just wasn't cut out for it. I couldn't cross-reference the LOAs to ensure IFR filings were correct. Takes a lotta skill to do this kind of stuff- crazy some of us just do it for a hobby
could it be that the lighting of the aircraft is not reproduced correctly? Or does every second pilot taxi on the taxiway with landing and strobe lights?
Hi, you are totally correct. The lighting of the aircraft is not correct. Whenever the taxi or landing light is on, the landing light is shown via X-Pilot. About the strobes: I'm not really sure, what's the condition behind that.
Hi, As I explain in the session, it is mandatory to check if the Stand number on the Depature list is identical with the real position. Sometimes it is not.
@@vpilotslife7451 I do mine at a 70,000 bit rate seems to work for 1440p playback, although of course it up GB and upload time but worth it I reckon, especially as your vids are kept shorter.
Nice job I could never do this, I be swearing at them all, all the different mic's, quality, mistakes and what not - thank goodness there are those that can. :)
Hello, I have a question about VATSIM, so long story short Iam starting with VATSIM as a heli VFR, Iam trying to find a airport where there is a GROUND, TOWER and ATIS atc, is Gatwick airport good for someone whos starting? (BTW sorry if my words dont make sense english is not my first language)
Hi, Thanks for your support! As Gatwick is normally pretty busy I wouldn‘t recommend to start flying in Gatwick. There are a lot of different small quiet place where you might start learning. I would definitely recommend to monitor the frequency first. In that way you can get an idea what‘s happening. Also have a look at the guidance you find here: my.vatsim.net/learn However if you have any questions don‘t hesitate to ask!
Hello! Ive been flying in MSFS for some time now and mostly out of Gatwick, so thank you very much for your ATC service! One question, I would like to also help with ground atc at Gatwick, how can I get started? The process seems very vague and I would really appreciate if you could point me in the right direction
Hi, Thank you very much for your support. You may have a look at this page: www.vatsim.uk/atc/new-controller There you can find the basic information how to join the Vatsim UK controllers. Just bear in mind that there are currently long delays to be expected.
Hi, I‘m sorry to disappoint you, but you have to find it out by yourself.😜 As a small hint I‘m normally controlling either Gatwick or Manchester. But don’t worry I’m not online the next week as I enjoy my holidays. See you on the network😉
as ATC you need to have a mic, even if it says that you can control without one its always your duty to supply the pilots with good communications, so having a mic is vital.
Hi, Thanks for your comment! As you will hear in the beginning of the video I have indeed a mic and I’m only controlling via voice. I don’t know what happened to the rest of the voice recording in the rest of the video. I will investigate.
@@vpilotslife7451 okay i hear you also just a suggestion. Maybe make the two bottom screens a bit bigger coz even in hd i cant see the words (callsigns)/(clearances) but it might just be my side
I can see your point. Problem right now is, when I increase the size of ES window it will decrease the size of the vStrips window... I will try out if I can find another solution.
Loving your videos, as I am sure you know ;) BAW983 here - I use Gatwick on almost a daily basis. Please can you let me know what days and times you are normally on controlling? Thank you!
