I love learning. In fact, I'm obsessed with it. For me, the greatest adventure in life is the aquisition of skills and knowledge that open up new ways of understanding and interacting with the world.
I'm an expert in several fields, a beginner in others, and somewhere on the long road to mastery in many others. I'm a professional pianist, I write music for computer games, I speak 5 languages, I'm training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and I'm a professional names reader for multicultural University graduation ceremonies.
With this channel, I hope to share the love for learning that I have had since childhood. I talk about my learning projects and discuss the optimal ways to learn languages, music, martial arts, and many other skills. I also randomly create humorous videos, and videos related to personal growth and self-development. Thanks for watching!
I took German for 5 years ( really having trouble with the articles was my issue ) and believe hearing this could help a German learner on grammar. Sehr ausgezeichnet einen Film!
Beginning in 1750 about. 1/3. of my ancestors. are German. 1/3 English. 1/3 Norwegian So for most Americans German. is within.. our linguistic tree Plus, if we studied Shakespeare it sort of comes back. this was fun.
Epic effort! I’ve learnt a few but not all of them. Learning Bach is awesome for jazz piano. Good for technique, counter melodies, balancing of voices, harmony… the list is endless!
Fun. This reminds me that my German is really good, because none of this is what I hear when I communicate with it. It just sounds normal. Although I did go through the learning process as a young adult so I can totally related to this entertaining portrayal.
So try sometime to do simultaneous translation. Wait to the end of the sentence for the main verb, then start to speak whilst the next sentence unfolds...,
This was HILARIOUS! Good job! The totally different sentence structuring really stands out, and there was even a bit about how all objects can have a masculine or feminine gender (HE - the coffee mug - is on the table). Being Icelandic I have a rudimentary familiarity with German grammar and sentence structuring, and while Icelandic sentence structuring is not the same as in German (it is West Old Norse), I guess it sits somewhere between English/Danish and German. In Icelandic, objects also are assigned a gender, but randomly different from German: An Icelandic pencil is a HE while a German pencil is a SHE. Believe it or not, this is actually a stumbling block for an Icelander learning German...
Yes. I understand Sapir-Whorf is debunked, but maintain that the struggle _through_ what ever grammar with which you are beset, to transmit what you mean, is different from language to language. This reminds me that German grammar is quite cumbersome and hard to punch through. We are absolutely two minds, and only one of them is bound to math and language while the other is here and now, phenomenally-oriented. That side of our nature has an easier/harder time punching through grammar, depending on language.
This is good material for some next level stand up.I get confused and understand at the same time, which makes me laugh. I used to learn German when I was working in Germany. I speak and read English quite fluently. And I am native Polish speaker :)
The reasons you give for embarking on this grand project articulate the reasons why I have dedicated ten years to learning Bach's music on the guitar. Thank you. It's a never ending voyage of wonder and discovery.❤❤❤
Sounds like Shakespeare...which probably isn't that much of a surprise as I'm sure not too long before he was strutting his stuff, Middle English and German were closer
Great idea. 😅 A few comments though: I don’t think it should be “To me goes it good” but just “Me goes I good”. And “I must soon to go” should simply be “I must soon go”.
I remember now why i couldn't get on with german at school and didn't even consider it for o level. I remember i was once in the youth hostel at Marseille and this german geezer came up to me and asked what sounded like 'have you fire?' i didn't have a clue what he was saying so shrugged my shoulders and made a gesture, he then said 'vor cigaretten,. and all i could say was, sorry mate, i dont smoke lol.
