really important you watch out for different self-leveling compounds. most of these youtube videos won't tell you they vary in application thickness and viscosity. I messed up because I was trying to self-leveling a thinner application between 1/16 and 1/8th. just be careful what product you buy. some self-leveling compounds are easier to spread and smooth out at thinner applications, and some are REALLY difficult. I bought ardex v 1000 and it was absolute HELL to spread. silka 125 was easier. novaplan plus seems to be the easiest to spread, it's much more viscous and fluid like. a lot of this depends on the compound you choose, so choose wisely.
You're the best, Sal!! I want to gut and replace our master shower. I've done a good bit of tile, but never a shower pan. Do you have a good diy'er one that you really recommend? One that is as close to foolproof, as you can get? :)
My best guesses on what tile that is... Porcelanosa - portofino MSI - malahari white Leaning on the porcelanosa product as it looks polished near the end of the clip. Great job as always Sal !!
That shower isn't a failure.. Lol you're very critical of everybody elses work but your own...i'm sure people could go behind yours and pick at it also
It wouldn't go another eighth of an inch? I would have thrown a little bit more water on it or held a rubstone to expose the diamonds on your bit.... And you don't have a second one?🤦♂️....nice job!@SalDiBlasi
I have not installed one of these yet, but it’s a great looking system. Damn near impossible to get contractors and plumbers to get it right with preset sizes of linear drains. Excellent stuff here thanks, Sal.
How do I get you to do a tile job in Lubbock, Texas. It’s a full bathroom tile, all surfaces , heated floor. One thing I do have done is the linear drain installed with the floor sloped and completed also . A detail that I want is around the shower head which is centered in the middle of the ceiling flush mounted, is a semi dome ceiling tiled out of one inch mother of pearl tile. There’s more details but if you could at least let me know if you would be interested. Thanks
You'd have to pay him a lot ot go out there. If you've already done the floor and the drain you will have a hard time getting anyone decent to finish the job as they have to rely on your work. You should plant to have whoever you pay to finish it tear it out and redo it themselves. That way you might actually have some hope of finding a contractor.
You’d be wasting money, just hire someone local…there are plenty of tile guys just as good, if not better than Sal…they just don’t have a RU-vid channel…but yeah you’ve already gone about it wrong by not letting a pro do the most important part…more than likely you’re going to have to undo what you’ve done, or sign something waiving the tile guy of any laibility.😊
Had a contractor come to my house bragging he does shit right the first time. Then after my deck was built the spindles were falling out the stair railing. His fix was a whole tube of damn wood putty!!Wtf! All these contractors and trades people cut corners, literally and figuratively. If it isn't theirs they don't care. Want it done right? Kick that cat out your house and learn to do it yourself. Anybody with ability to read and all their appendages can do as good as this dude.
Amazing! Can’t even begin to fathom what that shower cost but the workmanship you get what you pay for … only issue I have is I know it’s plaster but no tile for ceiling?
The grout joints will not be perfect if the tilse has variance in size, which is common in natural stone tile. The lippage issue is inexcusable though, and the grout looks messy. All in all, Ive seen much worse, so not sure it is worth ripping it all out.
