Cultural preferences and traditions have influenced our beliefs about Jesus, the church, and the Bible. Many of the issues that Christianity is known for today are not the issues that Jesus concerned himself with. I think it’s time to rethink.
I hope to declutter some of those issues for you so that your faith and grow and thrive.

Hey, does a far job contextually. He would do well to study the concept of The One and the Many. Yes, God is addressing the collective (Israel) , but it also talks to The One (individual) as a covenant believer. Now, its truths are for the believer and Church.
By saying this, you miss the whole point of the Bible. ALL ....YES,ALL THE PROMISES OF GOD ATE YES AND AMEN. ALL!!!! GOD PUT IT IN THERE FOR US ALL.TO ESTABLISH WHO HE IS. Let's look again. We are slaves to sin, captive in enemy territory. Think about it. This World is no longer our home. God knows the plans He has for us. He desires that none may perish but all may repent and He will forgive them and bless them. God does have a plan to prosper us and give us a future. All scripture can be misused. All. God does want us to prosper in Him. Just stop. It is personal. You are missing it.
Thank you so much for this video. My alcoholic daughter gave me a framed art piece of this verse and put it on the wall above my desk. My first response was to think of it as meant for the individual but as I gained a greater knowledge of the trials and tribulations of Israel and its apostasy, I began to slowly question it as I realized Jeremiah was a prophet and this verse was meant for the entire nation of Israel. The Lord certainly did fulfill that verse over and over again in the history of Israel.
Jer:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." This verse applies to Every Believer in Jesus...This is what God does and has for us....Thoughts of Peace and not evil...To give us Life with Him for Eternity...Our Expected End and Hope!
, ARE U AWARE THAT THE WHOLE BIBLE IS ABOUT GOD AND HIS PEOPLE (ISRAELITES?) FROM GENESIS TO REVELATION? YET YOU USE THOSE VERSES FOR YO SPIRITUAL GROWTH, YOU EVEN FOLLOW GOD'S 10 COMMANDMENTS, WERE THOSE 10 COMMANDMENTS GIVEN TO YOUR GRAND FATHER?, THEY WERE GIVEN TO ISRAELITES IN SINAI DESERT....THE CONCEPT HERE IS WHEN WE OTHER NATIONS ACCEPT JESUS WE BECOME A PART OF ISRAEL AND THEIR GOD BECOMES OURS TOO (GALATIANS 3:14)..AND THATS Y WE USE THE BIBLE FOR OUR SPIRITUAL GROWTH DESPITE THE FACT THAT ITS ABOUT GOD AND HIS PEOPLE (ISRAELITES)....SO WHEN SOMEONE RAISES A TOPIC LIKE THIS I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND...
The use of context here is wrong and miss leading. It’s a message of hope to transcend time. The love God had for his people still exists to include all people. He still has a plan why let context be a tool to dismantle a word of hope?
I don’t believe completely what you are saying. Yes, it was for the Israelites but also for us today. Every word in the Bible is for us, to learn and grow. God’s Word is a living word and it can be applied to us today. God gave me this verse directly when I was in a deep dark place over 30 years ago (I was 15) as a sign to me that he is with me but I would need to seek him with all my heart and soul which is the verses following verse 11. I was going to a Christian counselor who states she was praying for me, she said God gave her a verse, she wrote it down on an index card and placed it on her desk. I never picked it up and forgot it there after our session. Once I got home and realized I forgot it, I started praying and asked God to reveal what it was. As a young believer, I opened my Bible with my eyes closed and in faith scrolled my finger to a page and verse without looking and I landed on this verse. When I read it I started to cry and knew that this was the verse God gave me. The next counseling session, she handed me the index card, immediately reading it I bursted into tears and a laugher of joy, she started laughing as well with joy. Once I could contain myself I shared to her what happened. I believe this was a promise to me and all God’s children.
I have one that is surely to ignite a lot of people. Jesus never said that no one will know the day or hour of His return. Read the context carefully. He used the present tense, not a future tense. At the moment it was spoken His words were entirely true. But He gave no indication whatsoever that it was a truth that would always be so. He's no dummy. If He meant for people to understand no one would know He would not have been using a simple present tense when He spoke. Unfortunately, people have been taught something Christ never said. The result of that is to induce people to refrain from studying the Scripture to find the truth about His return that is revealed, if you seek it. Many will respond that we can only determine the season, not the day or hour. I disagree. There is no such Scripture. I'm quite confident His own WILL know when to expect Him. "But you, brethren, are not in darkness that that day should overtake you as a thief." 1 Thess 5:4
It wasn't just 3 Miracles Jesus was still on the water when He saved Peter and they went to the boat. So peter still had to walk on water to get back to the boat.
Just listening to this dot the very first time,, going threw a really trying time recently lost my leg finding life bizarre at moment I don't no were I am lost, without my faith 🙏
Thank you brother. This verse came to my attention today and really confirmed what I have been feeling and going through lately, which brings me peace of mind. Really needed to hear it. I will be saving this quote to come back to as a reminder! Peace ☮️ ❤
Money isn’t real. It cannot be an idol unless your flesh desires it? The Bible talks about all kinds of sin including idol worship. The carnality of humanity is based on flesh and flesh alone. Sin cannot happen unless there is flesh to manifest it. Money doesn’t lead to death. Flesh leads to death. This realm called Gravity or Gravitas = “state of the grave”. 👉💀
So you just contradict yourself! This is one voice one sound when God speaks to a specific situation he speaks as a whole to see what’s ahead of his faithful servants! So he is speaking to a personal promise to all who believes
2Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God might be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
It is not a verse of "granting wishes" but rather a reminder (to me and to you) that God will always give us what we need and He has no intent to hurt us as long as we are faithful. He will never take away the free will that often leads us into temptation and sin, but If we are faithful he will never harm us. Who in their right mind reads two lines and doesn't delve deeper? The Bible was written to teach us, not about "me" or "you" - it was a generality of teachings to show God's faithful how to live the right way.
I dove deep into this verse and chapter after asking GOD for a passage to help me with what I was/am going through. I kept asking every week or change in situation, and HE, at one point, kept giving me this verse week after week. Then I finally asked HIM why and what I was missing. Taking it back to the original language. Plans is not the actually translation, and should be the word thoughts (It actually fits better go figure). However, in context of the whole chapter. I have come to find out that I was getting the "I'm doing this for your own good talk". We like to think GOD wouldn't do anything that would seem to hurt us, however, that's not the case. He says HE caused them to be taken captive. However, HE is saying that whatever HE does, HE does for our own good. For us to make it to the expected end. There was a reason HE caused them to be captured and eventually call back upon HIM. Jeremiah 29:12 "Then you shall call upon me......"
My pastor told me the same thing. He has a PhD in theology and a brilliant mind and I have trusted his teaching for over 20 years. Even after he retired he's still my go-to-guy when I don't understand something. But on this verse, I have to disagree. The entire OT was written for Israel so if we take this one verse and say it doesn't apply to all of God's people, then the entire OT is irrelevant to those of us saved by grace through faith in Jesus. What many people may take out of context is the use of prosper in many translations. But the Hebrew word is actually shalom, or peace. God promises to provide for His children, He does not intend to harm us, and He alone gives us hope, purpose and peace. Like every Word of Scripture, this verse is applicable to all believers. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ❣
