A lot of the young youth that created these brands has no identity, but unfortunately, their generation will eventually phase out into a different direction
@planetbrooklynacademy Thats awesome! I graduated in 96, worked briefly in fashion industry, ended up in corporate job in WallStreet, became a therapist and at this stage fulfilling a dream and opening a tiny boutique and gift store with my teen son...mostly for fun but with wisdom to have a strong foundation for success.
@@csjohns173 We were at FIT The same time. I graduated in 94. Now licensing isn’t going to be easy to do if you haven’t established a brand or some sort of a name in the market. You have to have proof that what you have is viable to that market first.
You are 100% correct. But they are a very unusual brand because they kind of came out of nowhere. Many people on the East coast still aren’t aware of them.
@@planetbrooklynacademy different cities and Morocco 🇲🇦 has it different flavors Tetouan were I’m currently at is more like VA back home slow country mountain 🏔️ side they stick more to the Islamic tradition wear Were Tangier is more Miami Beach vibe closer to Spain so more westernized so people seem to dress for the summer there a lot of Lacoste polo Nike there Casablanca is more Newyork on steroids over packed lots of money there if link up whit the right people it never sleeps !!! your videos are not SEO-friendly. you must do video SEO to get good results. SEO increases views, If you can increase the views, you will be able to advance your channel a lot. what is the benefit of making a video so hard? If views, likes, subscribers are not? So I say, first organize the channel nicely, SEO the videos and then release the videos, then you will get good results. This will benefit you a lot, you will be able to improve your channel with very little cost. Seo
Rob…….brou you are a GOLD MINE. I am sooooo glad I found your channel and I found your book on Amazon and planning on buying it. But check it, you talked woman’s wear, licensing I’m on it for real. I did research on it and it’s something I want to do, thing for me is I’m still starting up, and don’t have any spare funds to do anything. So how do I get the attention of licensing agent ? Great video! you have confirmed EVERYTHING I have read about and looked into and thought about.
Thank you fam for your support. I'm so glad you find my video a source of reference to help you. Even if you don't have money to start anything right away you should still work on developing your ideas as if you do. The licensing part is something that can be approached a few different ways. But thats stuff I can discuss in a consultation. I can only give up so much info for free. 😊
What if yzy and fog were to collab? Think it’ll be something great? Also, how to connect about a clothing brand. I’ve thought about it, got a few weird ideas but not sure how to get started.
Back then our people didn't care about a message. If a celebrity or someone whose popular were it they did too. How many Black people knew the history of Ralph Lauren? maybe 0.01%. But they still wore it.
Its my understanding that "inspiration" or outright plagiarism is commonplace and to a certain extent, accepted and correlated with trends. With that said, Jerry is Kanye's son and as far as I'm concerned, Rick Owens is Jerry's Granddaddy. LOL Edit: I do think his business model is smart and his work has been evolving which is a good thing. But the trends shift, Ralph Lauren will still be here so no, FOG is not timeless.
I respect your view. I agree that RL will be around forever and I can also see your point about Rick Owens influence on Jerry. But you are wrong in calling Jerry, Kanye son. You giving him credit he don't deserve. Jerry launched FOG in 2012/13. Virgil knew Jerry and wanted to introduce him to Kanye. Kanye then asked him to create the product for his Yeezus tour. That is the extend of Kanye's involvement with Jerry. Now if you want to call Virgil, Ye son I won't argue you on that.
@@planetbrooklynacademy How they met is significant but not tangential. Not denying Jerry's hand in the Yeezus merch vision but Wes Lang is the unsung hero of that story in my opinion. Before Yzy Szn 1, Jerry was known for his great use of layering including the zip hem denim, distressed flannels and band tees, if memory serves correct. I attribute some of his early on success to his plethora of celebrity cosigns and connections, but I would argue that the FOG collections 1- 4 were his best and most authentic stuff and legitimately looked good. ESSENTIALS' popularity and success has effectively rendered FOG as "niche luxury" likening the brand to some of the industry's heavy hitters. But in my eyes its ESSENTIALS that has Ye's name all over it and its Jerrys biggest commercial success to date. I will concede that there is a chance, Ye is not the father because i wasn't actually there for the creative process of either projects so this all merely speculative as they could have inspired each other. LMAO
I'm glad someone else sees it too. I've been saying for the longest, Jerry just rips off Rick Owens. Now I know I'm not crazy. Great video. I disagree with Jerry's line being around for the long haul. I personally think his clothing is too gimmicky, for lack of a better word, and with his new super oversized looks make the clothes look like they have no form. Everybody just looks like they're drowning in fabric. I see people getting tired of that overtime cause I don't understand how clothes that oversized can be comfortable. If he does last, then more power to him.
@@vekksblackman thanks fam. Glad you enjoyed the video. I would agree with you on the aspect of Jerry being influenced by Rick Owens. But trust me he will be around for a long time. If you look at the high fashion brands clothing, not the retail stuff, the items they show on the runways, Jerry’s stuff is very much in line with it. Yes the oversized items will get tired but look at what level he’s putting that on. It’s not part of his top tier stuff. It’s for the more mass. He knows what he’s doing. That’s why I say he’ll be around. But I can respect you perspective on how you view his brand. Guess time will tell.
@@planetbrooklynacademy I’m fully awake and on it. Let them sleep if they wish . They are to busy chasing the TikTok dream and don’t realize the real world info that’s in the faces. Me I THANK YOU for keeping it real and real informative.
Forget a Million Dollars worth of game this a Billion Dollars worth of game cats are sleeping on this info Ron hitting you guys with the blue print . Ron can you do a weekly review of smaller brands products and who's doing it right from who missed the mark . start to finish on how to do mock ups how to source sample makers some Behind the scenes on how you do what you do when creating a collection I think that will get that 100,000
Yes you are right. They are also a brand I don't think gets enough recognition. But they aren't a streetwear brand that was built to become a luxury brand.
