If I wasn’t a Nets fan, idk how I would feel about Cam Thomas. When you hear other people talk about him, you would think he’s one of the worst players in the league. The guy just goes out there and hoops. He has tunnel vision but he doesn’t turn the ball over and he’s not inefficient. I personally think that if he’s given the chance he’s going to put up a crazy stat line. Him averaging 25 pts, 4 Rebs and 6+ asst on 45/37/85 splits is not out of this realm.
The Nets being so weird with Cam hasn't helped, Vaughn going up to the media and saying "He scored 40, but we lost the game" basically caused long lasting damage to his reputation (and probably cost Vaughn his career). It got so bad, players and other broadcasts were commenting on how Cam Thomas wasn't a starter. It's gonna take years before his reputation recovers
It’s somewhat odd because I remember after his rookie season there were rumors of several teams calling the Nets about him but to the other point bad team or not it speaks to his talent level that him leading the league in scoring is even a discussion…
I think it's apparent that Cam Thomas decided to leave college for the NBA a year or two too soon. I think if he declared for the draft later rather than after a year in college, he would've been a top 10 draft pick thus landing him in a better position/team. But that's hindsight which is always 20/20.
Cam Thomas is the most polarizing player on his own team!!! The fact that Jacque Vaughn wouldn't give him minutes but Joe Tsai is a Big Fan of Cam Thomas speaks volumes.
You single Jacque Vaughn out for not giving CT minutes and fail to mention Steve Nash not giving him minutes. How long was Jacques Vaughn head coach? He was fired before he was given a chance to do anything. For you and others, it's a lot easier to blame JV than Nash, eh afrolore?

Cam Thomas is gonna help lead the Nets to the 7th seed in the playoffs. Im sick of this Negativity towards Thomas and the Nets. And with Bridges gone Cam Johnson will also bust out this year. F__k the Knicks and F__k Bridges. This is the year Bridges goes down with a severe injury. Go Nets..
The Nets were a bad team last year. Not because of Thomas. But because of injuries. And the main reason. Bridges played like shit for a player who should have averaged at least 22+ points . You watch. This year Bridges average 12 points while Cam Johnson averages 22 points. My belief .. Last year Bridges was a Cancer in the locker Room and the bench. He thought he was the best player on the Nets.
Ben can still play at an elite level and just pull it back a bit, so not to win - if tanking is the goal. Nets have been here before; play hard for games we want to show we are a good team against elites, lose against bad teams at the bottom. Sean in my opinion invested a lot in Ben, it is in the Nets interest to boost Ben's value to recoup assets that were spent to acquire him, and if Ben proves he can go back to form, and not just form but above and beyond to a sense of confidence that he can be a superstar, maybe ha can stay for a rebuild and build around him and Cam Thomas.
@@LockedOnNets Well it did work with KD, but not too much for Ky, so in those regards his record is 50/50.. His moto is be strategic making decisions, I am confident he made those decisions to pivot to superstar witht he blessing of ownership, and I'm sure he gave ownership options and plans if things go south. At least that's what I heard he was that kind of GM when he was hired. His record is not perfect, and looked bleak at times, but it is looking better as off the moment. I don't think you;d trade when the value is low especially when the player is not complaining or not want out.
@@LockedOnNets Also, look at Dwight Howard's injury history, although not exactly the same, its a similar injury, and although injuries vary from one person to another, and Dwight was able to recover and go back the elite performance in my opinion, both of them have one thing in common which should factor in recovery, it is that both of them are young at the time of their injuries. But by the time Howard fully recovered, his star status is gone, and he was working on the cheap side relatively speaking. This trend should be similar with Ben, in my opinion in all likelihood he will recover; lets just hope he recovers faster, so he can return to form quicker. If you take care of your body, and he looks like he is, you don't lose all that God given talent at that age.
I think a deal that includes Cam Johnson and sharp going to the bucks for pics and Brook Lopez makes sense specially if you’re not gonna be paying sharp anyway
Honestly, in a rebuild, I love the idea of bringing Brooke Lopez back great guy great net. I think it would be cool for Nets fans to have him retire as a net. That would be fantastic. Cam for Brook Lopez and a future pick make it happen. Again, as the Nets fan it would be pretty meaningful to have Lopez back
Doug-Cam Johnson has had injury problems his entire career. He’s never played close to a full season. Look it up. This guy Makes Kyrie Irving look available it’s kind of funny that he is best friends with bridges a guy who never misses time. Players like Cam Johnson are what make guys like Cam Thomas want $35 million a year.
Lonzo Ball will be a unrestricted free agent next summer. Depending on how this season goes…he could be an excellent playmaker to pick up on a good contract.

With Dorian Finney Smith he still has defensive value but offensively he's mostly a three point scorer who is now in his early 30s and teams aren't willing to offer a first round draft pick for him unless they are desperate for his defense and are willing to offer a first round draft pick. For example could a team like the Clippers in a super tough West be desperate to part with one of their last available first round draft picks to acquire Doe? 🤔. If the Clippers offer PJ Tucker and a first round draft pick for Doe Brooklyn should take that deal especially if they can get a first round draft pick back 👍... But if Brooklyn holds onto Doe longer then they have to, they could risk losing him as well for less and have to take back multiple second round draft picks for him.... If Brooklyn can get a first round draft pick back for him great. Second round draft picks ain't bad either but getting decent value back should be the priority....
The problem Doug and Adam is Sean Marks is trying to pull off more magic trade acts with Doe and Johnson 😮😂😂..... But the problem is while he ideally wants two first round draft picks for Johnson and at least one first round draft pick for Doe the NBA doesn't feel that those prices are warranted 😮.... For Johnson his contract in this new CBA era is a red flag for different teams especially contending team's who are at least over the first apron 😨.... Most of those teams aren't willing to go over potentially the second apron for Johnson unless they are desperate and really believe they can win a championship 🤔..... Now Brooklyn most likely would have to take back two expiring contracts or a possible bad contract like a Andrew Wiggins to trade off of Johnson's contract especially if they want to match salaries and try to get back some draft capital.... Most importantly Johnson does have injury issues and he's not a versatile offensive player consistently and has average defense. But offensively he can give you something but again Marks can't afford to get greedy or risk losing him for even less down the line 😮....
Soms teams thst could be interested in Cam Johnson are the Warriors Kings and Magic. The Warriors could offer Andrew Wiggins Moses Moody and a first round draft pick for Johnson. Wiggins salary is needed to make this deal work but getting Moody and a first round draft pick is good business for Brooklyn especially since they add more draft capital to their chest and give Moody a legit opportunity to prove himself. Brooklyn meanwhile could try to recoup Wiggins value and eventually flip him at next year's trade deadline for even more draft assets 👍.... The Kings feel like the safer team that can offer Trey Lyle's Kevin Hueter and a first round draft pick for Johnson which gives Brooklyn another first round draft pick. The Magic could offer draft capital salary and a potential untapped prospect in Jett Howard..... Some of those scenarios work but Marks can't afford to get greedy holding out for 2 first round draft picks and risk lowering Johnson's value even more 😮.....
A healthy ben simmons on a expiring contract would appeal to a team looking to win now. If we couldnt trade him id like to think he would show some loyalty to the franchise that carried him through his injury and sign again for a 3rd of what he made in his previous years.
Good Lord, the nets are so irrelevant and lacking in any sort of narratives good or bad that Doug and Adam are forced to bring up this clown constantly. This guy has every reason to be healthy and in the game this season because he wants to get paid and that’s what this is always been about. He loves getting paid. Who wouldn’t want to be paid millions of dollars but this is the sort of guy that you should never give $100 billion contract to ever again because he’s not trustworthy from a mental aspect or a physical aspect so he can have the best season healthy and all. Any GM who gives this guy anything more than a one year deal moving forward should be fired. This guy will quit on the team once again the minute you give him millions again
Its a great news to hear, but its something we hear every off-season. The source this time is more promising. Wish the best for Ben Simmons. We will see what this upcoming Nets season brings. Hoping for some highlights from Ben. I’ll believe it when I see it tho
Yes bad for a tank. Or at least he would be if they played him. Love him or hate him he still has a plus impact on the floor. Is his contract expiring? Trade or cut.
The Ben Simmons takes are so personal. I hate missing NBA so much that I have to listen to this deeply personal and unprofessional. Ben and Nic minutes of less than 300 minutes is childish. This is why pro-athletes hate analytics because of morons that do these personal hit jobs.
