hey brother great video! enjoy the dlc such a great area. you are super lucky the final boss has been nerfed 2 times now so not the headache I went through, with your skill you could've did it pre-nerf too though.
I do so badly wish we got a boss fight with melina in the frenzied ending that would have been perfect but sadly never happened I don't know why they have done extra bosses for hidden endings before but elden ring (as I've drilled in through all my comments on this series)was kind of unfinished maybe it was planned at some point to fight her we will never know though we know no data to do with such a fight has been uncovered so we can infer if it was planned it got cut quick
I wouldn't object if they did put her as a boss. I feel like giving her some magic and dodging like the black knife assassins could have been really cool
The radagon elden beast fight I kind of hate it i like radagin but beast is terrible it just feels like a long boring slog where one mistake one shots you it feels like a lot of people say the rest of the game is now i disagree on the rest of the game its balanced for the most part but epden beast is just horrid i wish radagon stayed dead between attempts theyve done similar in previous games now is this just me very salty I've died to this fight a lot yes it is this fight has killed me more then any other but also it is just kind of bad after radagon
Radagon is currently in my top 5 for fights in elden ring. I'll put the fight just ahead of malekith and just slightly behind mohg and malenia. Elden beast definitely hurts the fight overall but I didn't hate it. It's not like godskin duo where it felt intentionally designed to be annoying, or fire giant where it greatly overstayed it's welcome. I was told that they only recently added torrent to the fight and I think that it shows that they just patched it in after forgetting about it. It's seemingly impossible to Dodge the ranged golden blade pulses on torrent and if you get hit by 1 you're getting hit by 1 more guaranteed with tight Dodge timing for the last one. Given I had nearly 60 vigor and was getting 3 shot by that It felt like it discouraged being on torrent other than dodging 3 of its attacks. I just wish torrent was given a little more care than being obviously an afterthought in this arena. Overall I'd still give the radagon-elden beast fight an 8-9/10 despite the problems I listed because radagon is actually the most fun I've had in a fight except for mohg. I'd give radagon If he was solo a 10/10. But I can't even dock too many points for elden beast because although the mechanics for torrent are bad I'd still give its combat a 7-8 and maybe a 5 for the arena because even though it fits the eldritch theme and is pretty I hate the invisible barriers being nearly unnoticeable. Makes the ring attack annoying if you're caught in it because you hit an invisible wall. But despite that. The music is a 10, the boss design, visual effects, and lore, are also a 10. Hell, I'll even give it an extra bonus point for turning radagon Into a sword because that is horrifying. It's just disappointing because the fight was almost perfect. But some decisions on elden beast sank that.
Yeah the godfrey fight is just great i mean it gets a lot worse when you realise you can just walk to one side and most of his attacks will miss but fight him normally so to speak and he is amazing i just wish he had more hp also one thing about him did you notice he is probably nephelis dad they both have the loux last name and warrior epithet that makes me question why she is with gideon though and not hoarah loux i guess it could just be a title the loux bit something she took from him to show her strength or something its interesting to speculate i just wish she was summonable in the fight for a bit of comtext
I did notice the Loux name. I didn't put together all the details until I was editing. That happens a lot where I noticed things when I edit that I did not notice when I was playing. As for why she's with Gideon. Due to his dialogue at the start of the fight I believe that he just arrived back in the lands between recently. The tarnished don't seem to have all returned to life at the same time so I think that he was still dead until recently.
I can't remember if I actually commented in one of the episodes where you fought a black knife assassin about keeping an eye out for that HP sap effect, but it's cool you made that connection between Maliketh, the Rune of Death, and the black knives.
Poor hewg imprisoned by who I can only assume was marika to make a weapon to kill a god working himself so hard he lost who he was it's really sad a lot of people don't like hewg but I think he was a solid lad and he was here the entire adventure now it's only a theory that marika imprisoned him but he mentions her in some dialogue like he's let her down so I'd say its a sound theory though why she wants a godslaying weapon made I can only theorise further
I put together it was most likely Marika. His memory loss was really sad and caught me off guard. I'm assuming it also is connected somehow to the tree burning. Not sure on the logistics of that though
@PixelatedSingularity it's either connected to the tree burning or simply him completing his reason for life and just burning out after thousands of years of pure hard work I prefer the latter idea but your guess is as good as mine
Maliketh was known as the death of the demi gods and feared by basically everyone in elden ring he is also a shadow like blaidd but of marika instead of ranni he though has been around since the ancient dragons so was seemingly made a shadow instead of created as one which could explain his lack of immortality where as if you kill blaidd before the end of rannis quest he infinitely respawns maliketh and gurranq do not though most of this so far has been the less notable bits and theories the real juicy lore for maliketh comes from a figure known as the gloam eyed queen who is often theorised to be melina(which as seen in the godskin swaddling cloth talisman would imply melina skinned babies so im hoping she isn't)this queen made the godskins and wielded destined death before maliketh until he assumedly just as the beast clergymen before he became the black blade of death went in and beat this empyrean who's whole thing was god murder and skinning he also beat most of her apsotles too considering empyreans are beings of nigh godhood like ranni and malenia this is an insane feat maliketh also due to existing in the times of the ancient dragons is probably one of if not the oldest none god we see in elden ring he truly is a fascinating character there is so much to theorise about him and especially the age of the ancient dragons he is linked to i havent even scratched the surface here
If that's the case I feel like malekith might be canonically one of the strongest characters in elden ring, if not the strongest. It's one thing to go oh. He had the ruin of death. So of course, he's gonna be able to kill anything, but it's another entirely for him to have killed the servants of a God As well as defeated, if not actually killed that God in the form of the gloam eyed Queen without the rune of death. That's a huge feat that we have laid out in front of us
@@PixelatedSingularityyeah he is I'd say the 2nd strongest thing we fight in the game and he like all the other bosses is weakened when we fight him since he seems to be infested by the death root and off his head half the time on the gloam eyed queen note the reason people think she is melina is the fire relation melina is burned and bodiless people assume that's from the fight with maliketh he beat her sealed the rune and burnt her body with the new destined death or something also another spoilerish reason
As of the end of my recording session today I'm pretty sure I know what that other spoiler-ish reason is. I almost didn't recognize her with the black hair until she spoke.

Maliketh and destined death as a whole is just very visually striking and extremely cool though in the first build of the game he actually had some purple effects for his destined death instead of the red and black now i personally prefer the purple and think they should have stuck with it on a related note maliketh is considered by many to be a top fight in elden ring where would you put him in your rankings of elden ring bosses
I loved the malekith fight visually, I'd overall give it maybe an 8.5/10 I love the boss design, liked the beast clergyman phase for the most part, and I loved the complete switch up between the two movesets while still maintaining the aggression. Also I loved that there weren't any moves that had me wondering if it was possible to even consistently Dodge them(waterfowl). My only real complaints are that beast clergyman had a couple moments where I felt like he slid around a bit rather than moving as I expected from his animations, this mostly happened when he'd back up away from me when I was right up next to him. As for the 2 other complaints I have, both are with malekith, first off, I thought his attacks were strangely slow and while he moved around a lot his actual attack speed was much slower than I expected, and the second was that I wish they'd given him 50-75% more health. Fun fight but I felt like beast clergyman was a lot harder and killed me way more consistently while malekith was more fun but way too easy. I don't know If you'll notice but when I finally beat him I had a borderline non-existent reaction at first. I didn't watch the healthbar for like 30 seconds and suddenly he was dead. I wasn't expecting him to drop so quickly and I was honestly just kind of disappointed it was over so anticlimactically.
@PixelatedSingularity I do agree on the hp bit if it was a full 2nd health bar like malenia for the transition I'd have preferred that and as for the aggression on phase 2 I do think it's too easy to just stand under him for most of the attacks though my real issue with him is the pillars whenever I fight him he phases through them it's so frustrating I stagger him and his head lands in them but besides that i think the fights very good and I'd put him more at a 7 out of 10 but I can see 8.5 tbh I could bump him up to 10 for the design and lore
I can definitely see a 7 if he's clipping through the pillars for you. I did not see him do that thankfully but I'm guessing it would unlock you from him if the pillar Is between you which would make the fight a lot scarier as you rush to find him and lock on again. Can't Dodge the blades of death he throws if you can't see him
Using miquellas needle after burning the tree is interesting you save melina but without doing any damage to the world to me that is the best outcome all the benefits of frenzy with no downsides a much better fate then others who have touched the madness like vyke and midra though not nearly as fun as rising as the lord of frenzied flame and burning the world until all is one though if you do cleanse the flame there is no other way to get it back if you change your mind so consider carefully all options
Definitely wrapping up this playthrough with the frenzied flame this playthrough to see the destruction it inevitably causes but it made me feel kind of guilty getting to this point so I don't know if I'll be getting said ending on repeated playthroughs.
Placidusax is a personal favourite boss of mine not mechanically and the run backs annoying but this ghidorah rip off is just so cool every time i see him i wish we could fight him in his prime all 4 heads maybe in a duo fight with him and his god since he had one as a lord of an earlier order before they went off god knows where to be honest his god is one of the biggest mysteries in elden ring we get no mention of them anywhere else besides his remembrance we apmost definitely have never met the god he is consort to and may never unless we get a new dlc that goes back in time which i am still hoping for a shattering dlc or something i mean dark souls has done it before anyway let my rambling cease
I love placidusax. And I think it Suffers from the same hp bloat that I complained about with fire giant. But I don't care. He's so cool and has a varied enough attack pool that I don't get bored.
@PixelatedSingularity yeah he is the 2nd best dragon fight in elden ring and probably top 3 in all of fromsoft though doesn't say much since most dragon fights are terrible but anyway amazing boss though don't you wonder what he fought that he lost 2 whole heads

Everyone hates the godskin duo just completely boring its the 4th fight with a noble and 4th with an apostle it's the complete wrong way to do a duo fight the ai of both of them is on at all times and they arent coordinated like previous duo bosses because they were made to be separate they just needed a filler boss and they were like well they have a link to destined death so lets just toss these two in to farum azula i would have rather had an abyss watchers style black knife fight actually designed around there being multiple enemies but that isn't what we got sadly
My opinion of the duo is more negative than positive but surprisingly it's not due to them not being coordinated. Although they could've done it better it wasn't too difficult to separate them. I will go more into the problems i had with them in the next video
@PixelatedSingularity the lack of coordination annoys me because it isn't a duo fight really it's two solo fights the more coordinated duos like ornstein and smough or the demon princes felt like two separate parts of one boss fight where these feel like 2 boss fights it's hard to explain but it's the same with every other duo fight like the misbegotten and crucible knight
I hated the misbegotten and crucible duo. It feels like it's just a dps check. Came down to can I get rid of the misbegotten before the crucible knight gets to me? I would have liked a back to back fight better rather than feeling panicked about where the knight was while I was being spammed by the misbegotten.
@PixelatedSingularity genuinely don't know what they were thinking with that duo how are they in any way linked to each other or redmain castle or even the ruins greatsword that swords part of farum azula how do random animal men keep getting legendary swords they get 3 of them and as you said on the fight itself its a dps check or you have two of the most aggressive enemies in the game attacking at once it's bs without being insanely overleveled or very damn skilled
Fire giant i feel isnt a very good fight its a lot of flash but the camera is terrible,his hp is massive,his none weak spots have damage reduction from what i can tell and his hit boxes are weirdly janky i feel he could have been a great fight they have made great giant bosses before like bayle hes massive but has really none of these issues from my experience feels like the waste of a cool boss to me
@PixelatedSingularity I like the idea just not the execution I mean when he rips off his own leg it's crazy and the giant flaming eye opens such great presentation but he really needed more then just doubling the regular attacks in phase 2 could they not have come up with something better then we'll he did one fire shot so now he does two and you are right about the zoomed out camera even if you fight him locked off you can't possibly see his whole body because elden ring has no fov slider though to get through fighting him every plsythrough I just think him and the godskins are guarding one of the best bosses in the game so I can deal with them
I wish phase 1 didn't use the pyromancy. It would have made it more interesting. Phase 2 didn't have much going for it other than the weirdness of him rolling around. I actually liked the physical moveset in the first phase. It felt like I was fighting a physically imposing giant.
@PixelatedSingularity my question is where did the pan weapon go in the second phase did he eat it or something a phase 3 where he hurled it like a flaming discus would be great instead of it disappearing
The giants were killed because of their association with the fire of the fell god a god each giant had connection to via their stomachs which is why the trolls descended from giants who turned away from said god have no stomachs as far as the giant war in the time line we know naturally it was whilst lord godfrey was still consort to marika and we can therefore assume his crucible knights fought in it which makes a really cool image crucible knights flying between giants raining down shots with their spears and drilling through giants with their shields and swords or even shattering them upon their hammers i really want to see some sort of cinematic of some of these early elden ring wars maybe in a 2nd dlc
@@PixelatedSingularity I just wish we could get different endings with each outer god like a flame of the fell god or formless mother ending that would be very cool there is so much left to explore in elden ring lore so much of the world unexplored like these gods and I don't know what would be more fun more lore about them or just more tiny tidbits to have fun theorising with
@PixelatedSingularity there are a few more fell god tidbits with the fire monks and giant flame spells if you haven't found them yet may have missed them on the mountaintop of the giants
Millicent's story is a tragic one. But really, the deck was stacked against her from the start. She didn't have the power of a great rune like Radahn or Malenia to keep the rot in check. And there are some implications in an alternate outcome of her questline that she would have eventually become something else, be it a reborn Malenia, or simply another goddess of rot. In the end, she chose that she rather die as herself, and in doing so gave you the implement of your own salvation.
Congrats on beating Malenia. That last attempt was really something. Will admit, i was waiting for you to get this far ever since i started following your playthrough of this game. As for what you were wondering about malejia and her rot goddess form. Apparently, she normally just keeps the rot within her in check through sheer force of will, but that flower you saw, the Scarlet Aeonia, blooms whenever she utilizes the full power of the Scarlet Rot. Canonically this has happened twice, once during her fight against Radahn in Caelid (the reason why Radahn is how he is now, and why Caelid is a rot-infested hellscape of deformity and meat fungus), and the second time against the Tarnished of Little Renown. Supposedly, if she had allowed the Aeonia to bloom a third time, her apotheosis into the Goddess of Rot would have been complete and permanent.
I just feel bad for Caelid. I get it if her and radahn had to fight but Caelid did not deserve to get caught in the crossfire. Loved this boss fight though. Other than the inconsistency with avoiding waterfowl dance, it honestly felt like a perfect fight. I just didn't have the reaction time to run to get away from her first flurry consistently so I'm docking some points from her
So, little detail: that black and red wave the black knives can unleash from their knife isn't just an Ash of War, that's actually something really important. I'm not gonna spoil the connection, but i imagine you'll soon enough meet the NPC who will help you draw the line between the dots.
I figured there was some sort of lore reason. I recognized the design of the knives from the opening cutscene, so I already had some idea of what it is. I love how many things I can pick out from that cutscene now and am curious how many things I'll notice next playthrough when I watch that opening cinematic that mostly meant nothing to me before aside from tone setting
I mean, it's not like Jars are generally known for their might intellect, living or not. On an unrelated note, those real close up shots of the Death Rite Bird really just hammer home how outright wrong it looks. Like all its body parts are just too long, and the whole pelvis just looks wrong.
@PixelatedSingularity it happened to me when playing the dark souls 1 remastered, and since I wasn't using summons nor guides, I just played in offline mode and it was the best experience I ever had playing a video game, it became more immersing and surprising, more rewarding when you find cool stuff or figure out a alternative paths only by taking your time and observing. Enjoy Elden Ring! There's nothing like the first playthrough of your first souls-like.
Malenia is somewhat like a vessel for the outer god of rot since childhood she was born touched by the rot a curse on which the reasons for i have theories for anyway the only reason she is able to live despite the rot seems to be her great rune its what allows her to heal with every hit replacing the destruction its wrought upon her that and her fighting style taught to her by the blind swordsman that sealed the god of rot long ago with a sword like flowing water the water like style seems to he a counter to the rot probably because rot is related with still waters and flowing waters with cleanliness and progress none the less thats why malenia is the way she is she fights because its literally keeping her alive she is still a terrible person though for reasons i cant share yet
That's actually really cool. I was wondering why she healed on hit and that makes perfect sense. I'm guessing the reasoning you're avoiding saying is a dlc spoiler?
Sub 40 deaths on malenia not bad at all she was always weirdly easy for me but I've heard a lot of hundred odd death horror stories so congratulations on beating her below 50 deaths
Phase 2 was a little tricky with the heightened stats and aggression but mostly I think the fight was a perfect dance once you learn the moveset. Only problem I had was the first part of the blade flurry. I couldn't consistently outrun it and rolling only helped me avoid about 1/2-2/3 of it. Every other move she had felt pretty consistently workable though. I think most of my deaths were to that move
@@PixelatedSingularity waterfowl that move is called to me it ruins the fight a bit it's kind of pass or fail that and the clone attack like if you attack with a colossal weapon and she cancels into water fowl you can't react in time your animation recovery is only over after she's already in the air then it's too late also she has a bunch of stagger immunity points where she takes no stance damage and stuff looking under the hood it is a very weighted fight
Best I could tell is she has very low stance, so she staggers easily. But she takes no stance damage at all If she has hyperarmor when you hit her. Figured that out when 2 charged plus 1 light attacks would stagger her if she didn't hyperarmor, but If she hyperarmored then nothing would happen. I hit 3 jump attacks and 4 full charge attacks on one run and she just wouldn't stagger. She operates completely different from any other boss I've seen in the game. Also bleed could knock her out of waterfowl but controlling when she bled was hard. Basically just Nihil and pray
The haligtree was meant to be miquellas answer to the erdtree a place for the denizens of his new order to seek shelter for people spurned by the erdtree which is why people like albinaurics come here and why many see it as the future of their peoples however the haligtree in the end seems to be little to the young empyrean as his plans lie elsewhere how said plans fit in with the haligtree not sure but it must hold some significance to create it at all maybe it was the first try the failed 1st draft and has now been forsaken for the one yet to come ir maybe it was a deception who knows ill piece it together one day the true purpose of that rotten tree
I'm very curious if maybe after Malenia returned, the rot settled into the roots and the tree started to die. It's not dead but also not seeming to be very healthy when we traverse it. Also I don't think Miquella would have intentionally abandoned the tree as that would mean abandoning Malenia too. But to be fair I don't know much about Miquella so far.
@PixelatedSingularity miquella is a weird one their story is mostly in the dlc so I won't be saying anything more about it since the base game says so little about him beyond he has learned well how to compel affection and that he is the fiercest demi god I may too easily venture into dlc territory which I want to avoid for now the only thing I know for sure for miquella is he must have the best shampoo ever because he has massive flowing blonde hair and I want to know how to get that too like his hairs taller then him
I want to poke into the dlc so bad but I've been told to beat the final boss of the main game first because they're fantastic but may be a bit less appreciated if I do the dlc first. The urge to learn more about Miquella and mostly the whole Miquella/St Trina thing is killing me though
As bosses go loretta is ok her magic is nice and flashy but just adds more running to the fight plus most of her moves are just tree sentinel with an extra hit so whilst shes not a favourite she certainly isnt bad what would you rate her
I'd actually give her an 8 out of 10. That could change on consecutive playthroughs but I really enjoyed it based on first impressions. I realized that if you position yourself right next to her as close as you can her magic sword bolts will consistently miss. In addition to this I love how it feels like a nearly perfected version of the tree sentinel fights. The things that deducted a couple points for me are mainly her jump backs she does sometimes before doing the magic. I either have to wait her attack out or be risky trying to get close to her before the magic goes off. When in melee range and she cooperates with me not wanting her to run away this is actually my 3rd or 4th favorite fight so far though. I'm interested to see how she lands at the end of my playthrough though. I want to rate and rank all of the bosses when I complete my first playthrough
@PixelatedSingularity I've never heard someone genuinely enjoy loretta despite my dislike I'm happy to see it I mean she is one of the few genuinely nice people in elden ring so she deserves a good rating even though I sadly can't give it to her
I can see why people would have gripes with her but I personally loved the fight. I actually had placed the fight in my top spot when I encountered the phantom in caria manor. the low health of that fight kind of dragged it down a bit as I encountered more challenging bosses though, so the late game scaling plus slight variations pulled her back up the rankings again. I'd say currently(provided she stays within a decent range for me to fight) she's only behind Mohg, Malenia, And Maybe Morgott. I have the same problem with Morgott as I did with her phantom though. He has too little health. That fight would easily overtake loretta if Morgott had more health but due to him being a flash burn of a fight I think I could give 3rd place to either of them interchangeably depending on my mood at the time
@PixelatedSingularity my biggest gripe is she's like tree sentinel mixed with rellana and I don't like either of those bosses so it's more of that then loretta herself I guess
That makes a lot of sense. I like her because she feels like the good parts of both of those bosses to me but without the summon spam that rennalla has and without the annoying hitboxes that half of phase 2 tree sentinels attacks have.
The haligtree feels like it should have had alot more done with it like it should have been a leyndell sized dungeon but it really only has a few places of note it does however have millicents quest in it and i do quite enjoy that quest so it does have its redeeming qualities
@PixelatedSingularity I thought you would have found her since you found malenia and she's deeper in the tree not sure if you can finish the quest after you beat malenia which you have if you can't that would suck to fumble at the finish so to speak
I meant to explore more but got spooked by all the kindred of rot and the pools of rot further in and just started hurrying through. I meant to explore more but got distracted after I got to the roots

That's good at least. And I'm not even scared of the near one shots to be honest. My biggest fear is the ranged attacks from the kindred of rot. Sometimes I can't work out how to reach the kindred quickly and I suck at dodging their ranged attacks because I always seem to mis-time my rolls against it.
Nice to see you finally got a chance to witness the "joys" of Deathblight. On Omens, i can't really blame them for being extremely hostile, when they're persecuted so heavily, that the best they pretty much can have is to be banished into the sewers with the giant man-eating rats, giant poison flowers, and local insane misanthrope.
