It's great to get a baseline for the "AR-10" platform. I'm working on a SASS build around a Faxon 20" 1:10 twit barrel with Aero Precision M5E1 upper and lower along with 15" Handguard. I don't have all the pieces yet. I've been collecting them over the years. I guess the KAC SR25 is my target so to speak. I will be using Magpull SR25 magazines.
Looks like the Larue Tactical was a complete failure. Good to know. Good on you to shoot 10 round groups, too. That should be the standard, when evaluating the accuracy of an AR. That's a much better indicator of how a rifle really shoots. Funny thing is, I have a M&P 10 Performance center, that has never had any misfires or hiccups at all. It also shoots sub moa for 10 shots, all the time. Generally .7-.8 moa average for 2 10 shot groups, shot side by side. It pretty much smokes all the rifles you have laying on the table and doing the review on. Good info though, but I wouldn't consider any of them.
This paperclip contraption needs to be more secure or have a way to lock in place so you don’t inadvertently unhook it when you sling your rifle during transitioning to pistol.
This product is great, hate it took me so long to get my hands on one, will be buying more for the rest of my rifles, keep up the great work and this video was super helpful.

Would it have hurt to show each target. And the shooting was done on tarp and grass… the grass would be more consistent for loading the bi-pod. C+ for presentation
Funny thing is before I even saw the video I saw Larue and though to myself I will never forget when I saw a Larue JAM 1st round in operational conditions I said to myself I will never trust that company!
Moral of the story: You can buy the first place accuracy gun for 5 grand or three of the PSA sabers and some extra gear for the same price and still have the 4th place accuracy and a great gun.
Great video guys. I like some of the feedback that has already been provided but don't want to take away from what you guys have already done! Barrel construction and specs probably more important than furniture. Consider this my vote for Aero Precision M5 in the next video. Thanks!
I tried a TA110 acog with a 1.7 mount with a piggy back RMR HD. I don't run nods. The issue I ran into was that it was so high off the gun I get no cheekweld at all. Maybe you can shoot a soft recoiling, nicely tuned AR15 with a mid or rifle gas and a can or muzzle brake, but I'm running this setup on an LMT 13.5 308 MARS H, carbine gas, and a surefire 3 prong FH. My surefire can is in atf jail still. Trying to shoot that with no cheekweld and have any sort of recoil control for follow up shots is really challenging so I switched to an offset mount. I assume with an lpvo it would work a little better since most LPVOs are lower than acogs. I guess Im confused on why you'd do this with an lpvo tho. You buy an lpvo cuz you want 1x. If your 1x is covered by a red dot, why not buy something that more capability than an LPVO like a 2-10, 2-12, etc? The weight difference isnt that much, a light LPVO weighs ~17oz. The heavy ones weigh ~23-25oz. A Trijicon credo 2-10 weighs 23, has better capability than any lpvo (including any 1-10s) except at 1x...which is covered by your red dot. The NF NX8 2.5-20 weighs 28. Mpvo or acog plus a red dot is awesome. Lpvo plus dot, kinda stupid.
Body type definitely comes into play when talking about optic mount height. I wouldn’t recommend people go higher than 1.7. Most people would find 1.53 to be the most comfortable for a top dot.
@@onehundredconcepts I think it depends on the type of optic too. A top mounted dot to an lpvo is going to sit lower than a dot top mounted to an Acog even if both the COG and lpvo are on the same 1.7 height mounts, I think.

Very true however I have found the lpvo with top dot gives me one setup that works for 98% of things that I do I my day to day life. I also have an 11.5 which I love but I think lpvo’s fit very well for some that just wants 1 rifle to don’t things

What determines how close you mount your red dot, meaning the closest mount ring or furthest ring ? I have my 12 oclock dot on the furthest because that’s the set up I most commonly see. I hear people mention nods, but nods still fit if dot is on first ring too.
I have come to cyber bully you for saying dumb shit. 1.93 is a 3tard height for scopes, the plx c is a great scope but it’s 1x no matter how flat and clear is not good because the illumination sucks. I will give you credit, you created a silly niche product that people are buying up even if they do not need it at all.
When did I advocate for 1.93? 😂 illumination has been fine for me in very bright days. Is it as good as a ATACR no but it’s been fine. Maybe pay attention to the info in the video

So just ignore the examples I gave of why you probably shouldn’t go 1.93 such as going prone 😂. I also made the caveat saying 1.93 is ok if you only plan on standing up so in other words I am advising people to put more thought into their optic mount height because it is not as simple as the higher the better.
If an AR-10 has gas impingement it is NOT a good rifle. With the increased heat and carbon of a 7.62 x 51 cartridge it MUST have a short stroke piston operation, as we see in the US Army's M7 by SIG/SAUER.

Piggyback is great for NODs and gas masks. I hate LVPOs anymore. I would much rather have fixed magnification or a magnifier setup. I put my LVPOs on QD mounts just in case I want to shoot long range.
