Hi there I'm Nick. I would like to share my travels with you. Some may not have the opportunity to travel or simply want to learn more about their next travel destination or home town and I'm here to help with that.
This helps a lot because I’m a delivery driver and this area can be a nightmare all the towers docks are down here and your video helped me a lot thank you 🙏🏻
I would have never believed it... if I didn't see it for myself... just east of the Airport to just south of Downtown in less than 10 minutes with zero traffic! Or could it be... there has been that many people that have moved out? Speaking for myself... I fit in the latter category. I guess that happens when there's no jobs and a city that has gone to pot. But never fear... there's always the Cardinals and Budweiser... eh?
it doesnt really look all that downtown-ish. but i guess theres not many cities like chicago and nyc. although its pretty cool their mls stadium is right downtown.
Dan Ryan…expressway from hell. Grew up in Bridgeport, not far from Comisky….back in the 70’s and 80’s. Avoided the interstates at all costs. Moved a long time ago…they look improved some. Don’t get back like I used to so, I’m thanking for the share. Moved to Los Angeles and if you can believe it…the freeways there are even worse. LA isn’t a true grid city like Chicago….you have to have a car there, but not Chicago. Miss the city sometimes….it was nothing but fun in the 80’s 💯
Been through there many many times. Naperville stop, east out of Chicago into Indiana and headed towards Detroit. On the way back i chose NOT to go back through Chicago. Once I went through Shipshewana on the way back. Two lanes and a lot of speed traps until practically Indianapolis. I would like to go back to Shipshewana. Friend of mine was going to go with me but he clocked out permanently. I'll go back and go to Blue Gate by myself. I don't travel like most. I'm not interested in most museums or places where a lot of tourists would go..There's another restaurant I've intended to get back to there but I can't remember what it's called.
Yeah, we really do need to invest in our infrastructure. With that said, you clearly haven't been to LA or NYC. Chicago is far behind them in terms of homlessness and dirtiness. Small cities like Cleveland get affected later by these things compared to large cities like Chicago
Dolton to Downtown via the Dan Ryan Expressway, Thank You! I drove this route in the morning on my way to work for 5 years 40 years ago, and have long since moved from the Chicago area to another state. Rush hours were TRULY an interesting and often frustrating experience.
Thanks so much for this fascinating tour! A lot of the roads don't seem to have much traffic. I'd love to do a bicycle ride down there. Do you have any advice for how I might plan a route, so that I get to ride through a lot of the interesting lower-level areas, but I don't run into streets with high car traffic?
Stick the area around lower Michigan and lower lower wacker. Start under St. Regis Hotel. You can access lower lower wacker from there. That would be a good starting point, just avoid lower wacker as that turns into a more highway like road west of Michigan
I'm wondering if I somehow ended up on lower lower wacker drive the first time I ever drove into Chicago. I was 21 and had no idea where I was going. I'd gone many times with my paren't but I never really payed attention to my surroundings while we drove through. When I was driving, GPS took me UNDERGROUND then promptly stopped working. That was so scary. I ended up driving around in circles and found myself in a random parking lot underground. A homeless person offered us directions in exchange for money. That was wild.
I've taken I-94 into the Chicago loop maybe 40-50 times and I'll tell you why this video must be fake: The driver was moving consistently more than 50% of the time and didn't experience a dozen near hits or dodge a single actual bullet. Driving into Chicago has never been anything short of a literal fucking nightmare.
Did the drive last night It’s a feeling I can’t describe Got out and stared at the lake The cold air hits you hard But I Found some peace in this crazy city
Ohh it seems so big city😮Tank you for sharing. I would like driving from Downtown Chicago to Hickory Hill, I Will be in vacation next Summer & I woul see how that's look. Hi from Morocco🎉
Welcome to the US! I have two videos of Hickory Hills. 95th street, which drives through Hickory Hills, and Archer Avenue which comes close. I hope you have a fun vacation!
I'm a native southwest side Chicagoan near Midway Airport. I'm one of the first 4-year grads of Curie High School at Archer and Pulaski. I remember Archer Avenue very well. I moved out of Illinois in 2005, but come back into the old neighborhood every now and then to visit my parent's graves at Resurrection.
i had art club while this happened and they took us outside to look at it (if we had glasses) but even my friends with glasses said it was horrible and it didn’t even go dark so imo it was overhyped
It's because there are different types of Eclipses, Partial, Annular, Total and Hybrid. This was an Annular Eclipse as the Moon was farther away than usual. Even though the Moon directly crossed over the Sun, the Moon was not large enough to completely block out the Sun's light. Resulting in a "Ring of Fire". Your friends expected a total eclipse. So, not its overhyped if you understood what was happening. The Eclipse in April '24 will be Total.
My hometown is the village of Shorewood, just north of Milwaukee on the lake. Back a few years, the population was about 14,000 and I cannot recall that many kids trick or treating. The density of the neighborhoods was much higher. The older neighborhoods in urban areas, like in Ripon, typically had homes set back from the street, which is quite nice. This looks like a nice town. Cedarburg and Whitefish Bay as well as Shorewood have scenic downtowns that are walkable
It would be helpful to know what the cross streets are so we know just where we are. Like, if we are on South Wabash or North Wabash and just where we are.
Doing that with all my videos would take a lot of time. I do keep in footage while stopped at street lights, which does allow the viewer to get an idea of where we are. Also, most of my videos will have the overall route in their description. Ill keep your suggestion in mind. Thank you for watching!
Fascinating video of Chicago's alluring "underworld." The only other American city I know that has an extensive system of subterranean public streets is Atlanta. Am I missing any?
