It's also the music he's playing - soloing on a modal loop of chords in a minor key is NOT Thirties music, nor are those reedy poly-synth tones. Listen to this for an example of Thirties-style playing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dMEuibX4c04.html It's far more like a theater organ.
Awesome. It literally evokes awe and has such a great atmosphere. There is a really epic feel to it even whilst it remains on the surface singular and focused.
This is fantastic. The rhythm is incredible, the emotional mood is complex but still Christmassy - wintry for sure. The sounds have been layered beautifully too; great arranging and producing. And it does that magical thing of using repetition to build and build, whilst also constantly changing. And the slow release, the pealing away of the layers, at the end was perfect. This is not only a wonderful piece of music and also a really impressive one.
