Hi I'm Cat. January 3, 2021 I decided to vlog my gardening journey & backyard critters as well. I enjoy collecting my content and preparing what I'd like to share. This past summer 2020 I did a serious Garden and it was such a blessing to my family. This truly is a relaxing hobby. I hope you enjoy my content. *Just a note* Items placed on the community wall are more recent than my videos. Rest assured a video will follow within the month. *Inspiration: Psalm 128:2 - You will eat the fruit of your labor; Blessings and prosperity will be yours.
Hi Teresa and thanks for visiting. Its called a "Weed Puller Tool". I got it off Amazon. It goes dont to remove the root. If you search you should find it. (Durable Garden Weed Pulling Tool, Portable Garden Weeder Tool )
Hi Laurasuber, I am using garden mesh. Normally I use it to keep bugs off my produce, but that day I folded it and DIY'd some shade for the plants. Thanks for visiting. 🙂
Thanks for dropping by Octoberopal. Anything will do to Shade. B4 the tent I used shade cloth and doubled white mesh. Im sure the plants thanked me. lol
Thanks for visiting! I had so much laying around, but I also recommend buying "actual shade-cloth". Depends on your need. I just doubled the mesh I had and it worked for me.
Yes Elwandaa, she had a ball. She lives in another state, so it was really nice to spend that time with her. It was fun cooking those Turnip greens for her and her mom for dinner that night.
Thanks for commenting Joe. I actually marvel at people who do little to no pest or weed control yet their edible landscapes thrive. Its an idea. I try to research beneficial insects I find around the garden and leave them be. Hopefully I can get there.
Yes Natasha, it works well in my garden. I use it in the powder form on the ground beneath the strawberries as well as on my collards in the spray form. Just add about 1 cup to a gallon of water. I also add neem oil. The spray dries on the leaves and a white residue remains to protect the leaf. The key is spraying from the bottom up on collards and turnip greens. It washes out easy at harvesting. Thanks for commenting.🙂
Yes, I used to be overrun with slugs. DE claims to rid ants and crawling insects. In researching information it stated that the powder is not poisonous, but it causes insects to dry out and irritates their skin and joints once they pass through it. Thanks for visiting Slickdaddy.
Hi Haley. I use a product called "Repels-All" I found it at the local hardware store. It list a variety of animals it repels. I place a perimeter around my yard or my garden space. Hopefully it will help. Some people also suggest human hair clipping. I didnt want to try that, but some people do. 😊 Also do a search, I am sure there are more ideas out there. Thanks for visiting.
Great to get rid of pill bugs! Those things are nasty and do so much damage. We had an infestation of them in our garden last year and I sprayed it directly on the suckers as they were even hiding in between the corners of stuff and between planters too close together. It cut their population in half overnight lol that stuff is great.
Wow! Thanks for sharing Thdoggo1. Yes, pill bugs can really multiply in a garden space. With all the dead leaves and other decaying material they can be a bit much and gross in the soil. Worms are enough to deal with. Thanks for stopping by.
Hi Cat! Nice mulberry harvest 😊 I never tasted mulberries. I purchased some mulberry cuttings last year. They never rooted. They grew a few leaves but no roots. I'm thinking about purchasing a mulberry plant/ tree from Etsy. Thanks for sharing!😊
Oh wow. Yea cuttings can be hit or miss. My little fig cutting from the home depot looked terrible, but it sprang to life. you just never know. Ill keep tending to the mulberry. I hope the etsy has good cuttings.
Hi Cat! It seems strange to see someone still growing brassicas in May 😂 If I tried that, my seeds would germinate and bolting at the same time 😂. Thanks for sharing!😊
True, I get a bit of shade from large trees at the end of my yard. We will see. I think I am just hard headed. Lol! Mainly I am waiting for the summer crops.
Hi Cat! Those strawberry leaves look so green and healthy. I had to use that diatomaceous on my strawberry plants, too. Earwigs, smh Thanks for sharing!😊
