no joke i owe my success on this platform to my hyperfixation on varian from tangled during lockdown
Loved this series so much as a kid. It was so funny and even educational at times. And as an adult I love the fact that both the Geronimo and Thea Stilton series have some careers and adventures that I would love ro have. Geronimo, for one, had a job he loved, writing books while working at the Gazette with his family and friends around him. Thea Stilton for another, was a journalism professor (and journalist as well) who had students that went on many adventures while IN COLLEGE. The Thea Sisters are so iconic, like, they travel around the world solving mysteries on their breals, which is so cool! (And I'm gonna be honest, while I love both of them, Geronimo does the fantasy spinoff stories better in the earlier parts than Thea Sisters one. But both OGs are equally great. (I'd say the newer books aren't as appealing to me because I grew up with the older ones, too)
I used to read the Thea Stilton books in elementary school at my local library and i used to think they were more iconic than the Geronimo Stilton books lol. I was also a Paulina kid!! My little brother loves the Geronimo Stilton books and checks them out whenever he can, so it’s safe to say kids today still love this series :3
I love that these books are finally getting some attention haha, I practically devoured the Kingdom of Fantasy series. My favorite thea sister is Collette btw :3
Honestly I wasn’t much of a fan of the books, I was mainly reading the Eyewitness books at the time (yes really, the educational books, I’m a nerd) but I always skimmed for the immaculate lettering.
The fantasy spinoff received their own spin-offs im surprised never got translated to English. Under the Geronimo name, we got the Chronicles of Fantasia and I think Knights of Fantasia, and under Thea, we got the Princesses of Fantasia and the Witches of Fantasia. I still have the entire Princesses and Witches series. It’s introduces as a large kingdom that once was ruled by the Old King, who was evil and got disposed off by the Wise King, who sang him and his court to sleep and sealed them away. Then he split the kingdom up in 5 smaller parts and entrusted each to one of his daughters, along with a part of the Spell of Eternal Sleep so the Old King can never be woken up. Each part takes place in a different realm and has a different princess as main character, as they meet up after 15 or more years to stop a shapeshifter from collecting the Spell of Eternal Sleep to wake up the Old King. They did get translated to Dutch and I loved those books
The scholastic book fair really changed lives lmao. Man I had so many of the Geronimo books and I read of the Thea books before I aged out. I think my favorites were Red Pizzas for a Blue Count and Thea and the Dragons code! I literally used to have a poster of the New Mouse City map on my bedroom wall lmao
I don’t mind people making gijinkas of geronimo but the bishonen ones make me laugh a little, that mouse is a neurotic middle aged man and he ought to be drawn like one!
I absolutely loved the Geronimo Stilton series for the visuals they put into the words. It actually was what got me to love reading. None of my family got into it as much as I did but it still holds a special place in my heart.
