Great video. I am hoping that you can give me advise on my Dyna-Glo 7500 Watt heater. The circuit board is fried and I know the element and fan are ok and I was hoping to incorporate your schematics to bypass the board and add everything in your video to rejuvenate the heater rather than throw it out. Would this be possible using your schematics?
Hey thanks for the video worked out great the only the only issue I have is the thermostat seems to kick the heater on and off I'm wondering if you have any answers or anything about that thanks
The addition of the time delay relay for the fan is a great addition and one that I want to incorporate. The specific time delay used here is no longer available on Amazon and I am having difficulty locating another 24VAC time delay. Any other suggested products & links?
Great diagram, please describe the black wire you added from the fan control board Supply terminal to the fan. What did you disassemble to get to the fan and how and where did you connect it to fan motor. Using a spade connector, splice, etc. Thanks
@@MDcraftsman Also the other two connections on the relay for the thermostat are smaller than the spade connectors that you put in the comments. What spade connectors are you using for those?
@@JeffDietenberger I used the splitter that came with the original thermostat. Since you wont be needing the thermostat that came with this heater for this setup.
@@JeffDietenberger In regards to the spade connectors, I also used some of the wires that came from the original thermostat that already has the spade connectors on both ends. For the low voltage wires, I used a spade connector that is 4.8mm wide, see specs of the relay. I’ve updated the list in my description for the correct spade connector, from Amazon. One more thing, please make sure that the electrical connections are tight. This is critical to a safe wiring job. If wires come loose, you could get arcing. I hope I was able to answer your questions.
Do you completely bypass the original thermostat knob? I thought I saw some wires still connected to it when you showed your finished project at the end.
Hi Paul, thanks for your comment. Yes, the thermostat is not connected to anything. The one wire that you see is what was left. One end is connected to one side of the thermostat and the other end is connected to the other side of the thermostat. If you look closely, it’s makes a U shape. I hope that makes sense. I guess I should of just removed the wire.
The contactor that came with my heater is a 240V. The model is S-P35T. Here is some information about it, www.directindustry.com/prod/shihlin-electric-engineering-corporation/product-65405-452277.html
Great instructions! I plan to follow your diagram to upgrade mine. Thank you. May I ask what gauge wire you used to make new connections? Do they have to be the same as the original internal wires?
Thanks for your comment. I used 16 AWG by GB Gardner Bender. I got mine from Menards. You can also buy them from Home Depot and Lowe’s. www.homedepot.com/p/Gardner-Bender-16-AWG-25-ft-Primary-Wire-Spool-Red-AMW-326/300689784
I commented yesterday but not sure it went through. Do you know would you use the same setup to run 2 heaters in a garage by one thermostat ? Great video....
Thanks for your comment. It is possible but sorry I don't know how to setup two heaters using one thermostat. Here is a link that might help you with your question, king-electric.com/can-i-use-multiple-heaters-with-just-one-thermostat/#:~:text=The%20short%20answer%20is%20YES,circuit%20can%20handle%20the%20load
@@MDcraftsman Thank you for your reply. I saw that setup on my search but both of my heaters are wired to their own 30 amp breaker. Thank you for your time and thanks again for the reply...
Nest has a feature called Thermostat Safety Temperatures. Nest won’t let the temp drop below the safety temp set. And fortunately for you, the lowest value available in safety temp is 35 degrees F
Great job. Is there a way I can get a list of every thing you used please? My 7 year old is crazy about car washes and I am trying to build one for him. I have build several ones, but now he wants one that moves on its own, and I think what you have done is amazing.
