I'm a hobby knife sharpener / professional so these diamond plates are really good for profiling and removing a lot of material quickly but I wouldn't rely on them solely as you're only stone for sharpening, you're better off investing two or three hundred bucks it'll pay for itself eventually but for chipped or damaged blades that are very dull it's worth it.

@fernantejada6836 12 дней назад
Hi, are these stones still good after long-term usage?
@mbtoolreviews
@mbtoolreviews 12 дней назад
I cant really say because it depends on how often your using them . If your using them daily id say your probably better off buying high quality thicker ones. If its a few times a month then you'll get good use out of them.

I regret I didn't buy it in Lidl when they had them in early 2020s. I think they were cheaper around £25-£30 bare, and then you add battery. I also like the idea of very lightweight tool that does the job. I have 20 volt version of it, which is a bit heavier but still quite light. I use it mostly for red and brown plugs, but a few times i used it with 1metre 10mm sds bit to drill through thick brick wall. Just be gentle and slow. And this 20 volt version is my favourite tool. I have heavier ones, 36volt Makita, 28volt Milwaukee, number of corded ones, but my little 20 volt Lidl is my favourite. I think when I get my hands on 12volt Parkside it will became my new favourite. Thanks for your video.

Most expensive thing i bought from ali was 20€ cyclone dust separator -and i love the bloody thing ,its well made it came with hose clamps,gasket,mounting hardware and a little template for drilling holes.For 20€ it works flawlessly nothing but a little bit of fine dust goes trough ,for 80€ i made my cyclone system out of parkside ash vacuum cleaner and car cleaning kit. Sometimes they do cheat ,once they sent me 20mm counterbore magnets that were supposed to be n52 but they are n35 ,yet everywhere in title it says n52.When you read description it says n 35 with small print.Still good for what i used them and they were cheap but dishonesty just sucks. . . Or when they write HSS tap and die tool and you get carbon steel. . .

@@mbtoolreviews Yes and no,model is a 3M but they are made in china by everyone.Most of the time on picture it will be 3m but in reality you get some no name brand. I had one made by Dainu from banggood and it worked fine for several years before rubber started to smell funny . So it may not be 3m but it doesnt mean its necessarly a bad quality. Since i am using mask 99% of time for dust i use 3200 now.Its a cheap copy made of silicone but it works flawlessly and filters are super cheap+you can wash filters 4-5 times before you throw them out.

I have the Todays Tools kit, I don’t have to replace awkward taps too often so for me, the Nerrad wasn’t worth the extra cost. Having used the fixed basin spanner’s, the spring loaded claw type and now the TT ones, the TT kit is way ahead of the others. I paid £40 for mine.

Ever given these a go on smaller basket sizes? I've got a load to do once we get all the brackets up. I'm debating on getting the straight 250mm cutters (they don't sell 250mm angled), but only if the cut is decent and easy enough for 100mm basket. Otherwise will pick up the 200mm cutters for dedicated screw duty!

Did you evaluate the scratch pattern they produce to see if there is any contamination from lower grits in the higher grit stones?
@mbtoolreviews
@mbtoolreviews 5 месяцев назад
No , I wasn't too worried about contamination as any residual grit or burrs should wash away with the lubricant . But even if it didn't, im not particularly fussed as long as my chisels come out sharp at the end.im still fairly new at sharpening, so that might be a bit more of a pro level question. Thanks for watching.
@Aexium
@Aexium 5 месяцев назад
@@mbtoolreviews sorry, I wasn't very clear. What I meant was that some cheap diamond stones, especially dual sided ones have grit contamination during their manufacturing process, where coarser particles will be embedded on the finer grit plates. You can see that with the scratch pattern basically remaining the same when you go up in grit. I am trying to get a real 1000 grit diamond stone, but I didn't see any review that looked into that and found a "true" 1000 stone
@mikafoxx2717
@mikafoxx2717 5 месяцев назад
@@Aexium I think that's mostly a problem with the dual sided ones, since they go through the same lines, so coarse particles get into the fine side. Always go for the single sided diamond grits. I'm going to give one of these a try just for fun and maybe a gift to my brother that bought a super steel knife without a good way to sharpen it. I'll grab a DMT Fine if this is toast, although I might just do it anyways.

I bought this to hang a curtain pole. I was a bit disappointed to find out I would need to drill a hole to the side in order to mount this. I am reluctant to do so as I do not want to fill & paint the hole left behind by the screw used to mount the bracket. Is there any way around this? Or another way I can go about mounting it with as little damage to the wall as possible? Thanks in advance 👍🏼

Wow! Looked like a hiding to nothing for a while there! I'd have thrown that chisel out if it was one of mine! As soon as they bend they're done, unless you use it for something like brickwork. Little tip for sharpening - use a Sharpie and colour the bevel of the chisel in, that way you can see what's been ground off and what isn't... Nice instructional, though - thanks for the hard work. 🙂 Question for you - when you're sharpening the 30° micro, do you need to adjust the position if you're removing chips and dints in the tip? Some of those chips looked about 1mm deep, so once removed, should the guide be adjusted and pulled back 1mm?
@mbtoolreviews
@mbtoolreviews 10 месяцев назад
Yeah it wasnt actually one of my chisels i got it off a freind it was all banged up and i thought it might be interesting to gove it a go. I would say if you have and chips or dings like the one in the video, it's best to grind the 25 degree until there all gone then add your 30 degree micro bevel on a perfect surface. I probably rushed it a bit at the end so i dont think i got them all out , but it was really just for fun . Also thanks for the tip and thank you for watching, hope it was some help.

Every major manufacturer says not to use liquids to tool with if you look close enough at their tech manuals. Here is what DOW ( one of the largest silicone manufacturers in the world and the manufacturer you are using) says: NOTE: Do not use liquid tooling aids such as water,soap or alcohols. These materials will interfere with cure, adhesion and create aesthetic issues. Page 75 of their Dow Construction Sealants Technical Manual I tried to leave a link but it kept getting deleted.
@genecarden780
@genecarden780 11 месяцев назад
Professionals always use an angled tip. You were using the tip at the wrong angle and you have to remove the little point at the tip. You should be shooting a concave bead not convex. And there is absolutely no possible way to actually know how well it is bonded and you can’t do that without without doing an adhesion/ cohesion test. I have installed sealants professionally for ver 45 years.
