Thank you for your informative video. I have purchased a new fuel pump, as the old one has had it. How do I undo the bolt on the right hand side of the pump (exactly the position where you were standing)? I can not see it, and there is not any room to get to it! Surely there has to be a way! Any advice would be very much appreciated.
You are welcome. To be honest it’s just plain tricky to get to. You just have to work by feel factor. Can’t remember now if I just used a spanner or a small ratchet to undo the bolts. Best of luck sir. For your information this project is still on my to do list but following a house move I am still waiting to be able to extend my garage so I can get organised. RU-vid content will resume when I actually get to do any work on the car.
great work and thanks for sharing the hard work needed to change one of these bearings. I have been putting off the same job for the last 3 years and still not sure I can go through the pain of changing it. One day soon.
Mini Matt TV thanks. Sadly not.been out in.the garage for.a.while. In actual fact I am currently locked out due to a faulty up and over door. But that's another story. I really find the video editing a chore and it just adds to the list of excuses I come up with. ;) if I can learn how to do a time lapse thing I will enjoy my time more. I prefer to have the radio on while I'm out there but RU-vid can be a bugger for background music and copyright so having to stop working then turn the radio off to do some video is a pain.. I promise to start again in the new year. Honest
Looks to me like you need just a tiny bit more amps on the welder but of course the problem is always getting enough amps for good penetration but not enough to blow more holes through the metal. you would probably do better too if you get good clean shiny metal showing where you want to weld
Iain Hall I think I was also having wire feed issues so I need to play with the welder some more. I am currently using fluxes cored wire which I am not a fan of and besides that will start to get expensive given the amount of welding I am going to be doing. Need to sort a proper size gas bottle and get me a big reel of wire. Practice practice practice. I also need to sort a pair of gloves and one of those funky auto darkening helmets rather than the wafty hand held shield I have at the moment.
The problem with modern fuels is not that its unleaded but that it often has ethanol in it that affects rubber parts in the fuel system so if you can try to run fuel without ethanol
Iain Hall yes it's actually a 1971 rather than a 72 like I said in the video. I wanted to write some text over the screen to correct that mistake but can't work out how to do it yet. I also incorrectly called the oil pump a fuel pump while talking about oil pressure. But I am sure viewers know what I meant to say. Thanks for your encouragement
