Saw Boyd at a car show when came to Hawaii some years ago. Was standing around by his table, I was 2nd in line, and he looked at me and I smiled and nodded. I was going to ask him a question but he just looked away and never looked my way again, that’s when I decided he’s not a person I want to talk to.
Stupid deadline after stupid deadline killed off all the top craftsmen at Boyd's shop. It's a shame he lost all those good men that did sacrifice so much time for him, but theirs a breaking point for everyone. I certainly couldn't have worked for him..
Boyd got what he deserved. He was the biggest POS i have ever seen running a company. Then Duane was just as bad if not worse and should have been fired.
And this 1:35 of video is all you need to know about the toxic workplace culture that Boyd Coddington's company had. All the more reason why everyone left and went on to better things. An epitaph for a failed business right here if I ever saw one.
I don't think Coddington was the best hot rod designer..............he was however the absolute best at playing the victim. A real nasty piece of work. The fact that he isn't respected even after his death speaks volumes.
With Jo's fine azz strutting around the house. Never understood letting good looking young guys live with you're wife in your home. I gave guys a place to stay. I had a couple of mobile homes for that. My wife 30 yrs younger. Some hot looking dude around everyday. Yeah i trust her but we are all human.not gonna put her in that situation. Im not bad 6ft exercise no children. All my hair and alot of $$$$$ i can always replace a woman, but why created a situation that could have been avoided?
This guy was totally fixated with the image of success brought about by high profile customers with deep pockets and rubbing shoulders with them. The real work was done in the garage, by the workers. He was making money off an image decades old and now utterly reduced and commercialised. A Boyd Coddington car could easily be outsourced to a dozen workshops and he'd still put his name to it.
And to this day Charlie says nothing bad about Boyd in public. He had respect for Boyd but it was not reciprocated and just needed to get out on his own. Boyd was on his way down and Charlie knew it. Lost all respect for Boyd after seeing this.
The biggest thorn on Boyd which I'm sure plagued him for the rest of his life is that this side gig for Foose Charlie asked Boyd for won him a SEMA award for his paint job. Imagine how much good publicity that would have given Boyd's business if he didn't have his head so deeply stuck in his rear end.
