Dear Shinji, I really enjoy listening to your outstanding guitar performance ! I am here aboard your channel, now we join hands as friends, Subscribe and LIKE #8. Greetings from Toronto, Canada Danny Muliana
This doesn't really work when you're filming on different days sitting with the mic in several different positions ... kinda need to do it back to back to back on the same day in the Exact same position for every single set of strings.
I’ve been playing with both of these string sets but in mediums. From playing them in person, the d addario xs has more punch to it. It feels like it projects the individual notes farther. However, you do get a more steel metallic string sound, especially when they are new. But after a couple months it warms up. The martins new sound more warm and warn in, but lack the same punch as the xs. On my D28 I have the XS. I have the martins on a cheaper fender acoustic where the XS sounded to bright and metallic. So which guitar you chose to put them on matters too. But definitely give the XS time to break in
After trying each of these strings twice on my D28, I’m going with the Martins. They have a more natural woody sound but still enjoy the bass and fullness offered by phosphor bronze. The XS are great too but they do color the tone a bit more don’t feel as free as the martins. They are both great, but I think I’ve decided. I have XS on my electric guitars now, but my acoustics get the martins.
Thats what I would like to see. Im new to guitar. Known a Yamaha ll6 ARE dreadnought with Laminated Rosewood back & sides with Spruce top. Trying to decide strings. I like a deeper warm sound. Any suggestions?
I recently tried daddario xs and I really like the feel and tone. I find they feel a little smoother than normal strings, which is nice for sliding up the neck. I love the fact they seem to never corrode or go dull. I don't think I will ever go back to normal strings. Never tried the martins before, but I think the martin lifespans might have a bit of a thinner coating compared to the daddario Hard to tell which I like better. Both sound good to me. The question I have is, which will last longer?
I like low-end in my acoustic and Phosphor Bronze EJ16 is giving just that and I have been using 80/20 bronze for like 2 years now... It's kinda more brighter than bassy. So, thanks a lot. This helped me a lot, I'll be switching to Phosphor Bronze 😄👌
Phosphorus Bronze always needs a couple days to break in and and lose a bit of brittle metallic masking in my opinion... I know more about strings after a couple days than I do when I first put them on
I appreciate the effort, but something is off with this video. After every strum, the sustain just decreases in a very rapid way, like you put some noise gate or whatever odd effect on it.
Thanks for making this comparison. I'm about to order strings and never realized there was both an EJ11 and EJ16. I prefer the EJ11s on your guitar -- the EJ16s sound thinner and lack the bass depth that the EJ11s have.
Thanks for your question. IMO, if you want longer durability, Elixir is good choice. If better tone with shorter string life than Elixir, I recommend D'addario XS.
D'Addario XT coated trings last very long, D'Addario XS strings last even longer and have a thinner coating. The XS coated strings will last as long if not longer than elixors and have more clarity and sustain...
I didn't know the XT strings were the same as the EXP! Just found that out! After they discontinued the EXPs i've been using the Elixir Polyweb strings because to my ears they have that da'ddario woody tone. I might give the XTs a shot!
I think it was 3 years ago when i installed Ej10s on my sisters cheap 40 bucks acoustic. Now i own a Yamaha f310 still with stock strings. To my surprise, the old guitar sounded freaking better. Although there are lots of intonation problems with it. It's the sound im looking for as a strummer
Thanks for your question. Here is my thought. XT strings - Touch feeling is close to non-coated strings than XS, but XS is smoother. XT seems to have wider frequency response than XS. The natural compression effect is add on a little bit because of coating. However XS has this effect more. XS has the longer string life.
Yes, XT is coated. It's a tad heavier caoting but doesnt last any longer. The XS coating is the newest latest technology D'Addario came out with. It's much thinner and last longer. Feels and sounds more natural ..XS, Best strings made in my op
