Just...perfect ! The original song is really emotional for me, because of personal story between this song and my daughter. And listening your version, some tears came in my eyes. The proof the version Is really good... for me, and my history !
I m late to this party too... As an old orchestral musician i must say - yes, your string sound as well as horns and trombone sound is amazing. I play with them and know how it should be like. Just great. And what reverb, eq and chorus did you use - I mean from what producer? P.S. Make more music, please.
I know I'm a bit late to this party, but that piece John Heath did is the only time a song actually made me buy a synth !!!!!!!! I even recreated some of the sounds he used, my grandson now has the synth and he loves it.
@@calvin808 Thank you so much for that offer, I think I used up all the patch sheets that came with it hahahahahahahaha, it really is a surprising piece of kit, for a while i dismissed it because of how other youtubers used it, then I heard 'Time' and I was like WOW :)
@@calvin808 It's incredible sound design, I don't think many could imagine trying to emulate a string that true sounding, let alone actually do it in practice
I'm trying to recreate this ..unfortunately I'm a total MPC noob ...is there a way to purchase the project file from you? Can't find a way to contact you....
Hi Mark, I would be happy to send you the project with sample of Vincent. I prefer to share my knowledge and sell my art, and since I didnt write the song, I'm happy to send free of charge. I'll ping you my contact info to your IG account. Will that work?
Ok, this is some SERIOUS sequencing and arranging skill. Hats off to you. The low end is subtle but it rumbles my monitors in just the right way. Just beautiful, beautiful work. You, sir, are truly an artist and a wizard in the best possible way.
listening without all the fx and post processing is a painful experience. i have had a few of these requests - i guess i have to do it now. :) stand by for 132 tracks of farts
I wish it were that easy. The built in plugin synths are more powerful than most know. I pulled up the patches in the video if you wamt to recreate them on your side.
Hi Alex! Thanks for kind words. You are correct. I recorded each part into Reason in realtime, one at a time. Tapeless recording. Reason allows you to record on multiple tracks, then play them all back...even while Im recording the other tracks. Once you record each part, (2 weeks), then the fun process of mixing (setting the volume of each part individually). The audio shows up in Reason in the traditional waveform. You can manipulate and add effects, eq, etc per track. Its very powerful. Thats the good news with Reason, its so powerful with tons of features and options. The bad news is that its so powerful with tons of features and options. Learning curve is steep, but once you have it, youre good to go. Happy to help any way I can to get you up and running in Reason or any other DAW. Have a great day. (PS-finishing up the Imperial March from Star Wars all done on MiniBrute. over 2000 tracks of audio. Its a nightmare).
@@calvin808 I find in credible you were able to get these sounds. Especially the guitar and piano, I would have thought you would have need samples of some sort from them. Do you think you get this close with most synths or is there something really special about the mini brute? And if so what is it? workflow, filters, effects? Do you have any other videos where you show how you design some of these sounds e.g. the french horn?
@@AlexStaveley There is definitely something special the MiniBrute. But there is something special about all synths. I chose the song before I chose the synth. I chose the MiniBrute because of the wave folding (metalizer) on the triangle wave, and the Brute Knob. I also love the filter. Not for everyone, but does the trick with trying to fine tune PWM/Wavefolding. There are some sweet spots in the Brute Knob that can transform standard sine wave into something amazing, with rich harmonics. I knew if I can get that piano, then the rest was a piece of cake. There's a story on Arturia site on how I did the sound design. Link below. I am also in the process of creating tutorials on how to turn your analogue synths into orchestral instruments (ie: Analogue Orchestra). Happy to chat/IM to help you. Let me know. www.arturia.com/john-heath
Congratulations for this absolutely stunning work, I have watched it many times, never get tired of it, we’ll done. Just one question out of curiosity …. Did you get any copyright strikes from RU-vid? I am asking because I did something similar (recreation of a famous song using only one synth) and RU-vid went crazy about it in terms of “copyright issues” leading to me taking that video down …
Hi Synthlab!! Thanks for kind words. You know, I have been waiting for a strike to show up, but nothing so far. Maybe your track was too good/similar to the original. :) Sorry you recieved a strike - I would love to hear your single-synth track.
Congratulations John! One of my favorite arrangements of Inception! Amazing performance and wonderful patches! Can you help me with your custom patches on Minibrute? I bought recently a Minibrute SE and I would like to start with some of your own sounds. Can you sent me a message ,please?
