I have never made cold process soap. I got all of the equipment and supplies finally. I really appreciate this video because I want to shave off the edges and now I know what I can do when I get enough of them! I am watching as many videos as I can to prepare for my virgin soap making voyage and am glad I found your channel. I will look up your books as well as I love fantasy and write it as well, though not published.
I'm so glad the videos help! I ought to do a walkthrough video again, as the ones I have are old 😄 That's great you write too! We should stay connected in case you decide to take the plunge and publish!
I wish everyone would post what FO and micas they're using, just like you did. ❤️ It's so helpful to see how they've behaved. Your soap turned out really well, and I love your colours.
Ooh, congrats on your upcoming book!! Let me know as it gets closer to release and I can do a shoutout on my channel if you'd like. :) Sorry to hear you got sick though. Get some sleep and feel better soon!
I visited your RU-vid channel "R.E. Holding". Your content is very good but you can't views, subscriber. I audited your channel and found some issues. So I thought I would solve your problems. I'm a professional RU-vid SEO expert.

Such a beautiful execution of the clamshell technique. I never would have thought of working the dark mica in oil into the design. Good job! A couple of hints for ya...powdered sugar instead of granulated (dissolves completely), and tape or draw the boundaries for your mold before you film (to guide you in keeping it in the right place during the filming).
Thanks! I'll have to look into powdered sugar... only, does the cornstarch in it cause issues? I have my area taped off where I know it'll be in frame, but that mold is so long it doesn't fit in my area haha!
Aw, thank you! Yeah, that was probably one of my top creepiest work moments! I work in STEM, so there are quite a few men-- most are great, but with greater numbers come the greater possibility of people like him!
@@laurenericks0n dude-dominated! hahaha you're totally right, and I struggle sometimes by letting things slide to preserve myself, which is also a crummy thing
Haha! I think the point is that there is more material to color with, and the medium is less likely to break. Sometimes, with wood pencils, if you accidentally drop one, the core may shatter. Then, when sharpening, the tip keeps falling out. There is some waste with woodless, but you'd be surprised at how little waste it ends up being! 😉
I've never done this with bacon grease, but I've rendered tallow before. I add a bunch of salt to the water when I do it, because I've heard that the salt is supposed to "draw out impurities." I only have to render it once or twice to get a nice white tallow. So maybe try salting your water next time, and see if it cuts down on the number of times you have to do the process? I'd be interested to learn if the salt really does do anything.
Actually it's interesting that you say that - I DO salt the water, but at the time, I also had a water softener that had more salt in it. Bacon grease can get a little dirtier because of all the bits stuck inside the grease from cooking.
How interesting! I just set up cart with WSP but undecided about fragrances. I do recommend Autumn Rain (Rustic Escentuals), my very favorite FO. Yes,aren't we all fragrance junkies? If you do a lot of blending, perhaps a dedicated video? I am enjoying your channel!
Aw thank you! I'll have to check out Autumn Rain! With all the choices out there, it gets a little dizzying, so it's nice to hear suggestions from others! I will have to do a blending video sometime 😄
Love your motivation! Been going through the same process.... Ufff :) Btw, if you put a book(or two) under your recording device, it will enable keep your eyes on the same level as the lens of the device. It would make a great difference for watchers:)
Thank you! We can go through it all together :) I did have it propped up, but I don't have a good space right now for recording... I'll get there eventually haha
Hi, I subbed to your newsletter and the name of your book Hillbilly vamp sounds awesome. And a tiny update about my scifi thriller novel. It's almost done. ❤
Here's how to resize your usual batch size to your new mold, this equation will give you total oils in oz. Desired height x length x width x 0.4. Measure in inches. Soap is beautiful!
I had been using the same formula and mold for so long that I had forgotten how to do this 😅 It's always that extra constant that throws me off - I'll have to put this in my back pocket!
