I picked up mosaics my senior year of highschool. I spent 2 whole trimesters or so finishing a single massive version of Van Goghs bedroom. The end of the year art show came and I listed it for thousands of dollars. Some old lady loved it and wrote me a check. She kept asking me about it and then I told her how many hundreds of hours I put into it. She took the check back, ripped it up, and said it’s worth more than that and she can’t in good conscience give me so little for it. I tried to correct her lol. “Nah I think that’s good enough”
This is a terrible demonstration. There are no instructions for the ratio of water to grout; there are no health & safety guidelines (wear rubber gloves, sensitively to plaster etc); advising to rub back the excess with fingers is a risk as sharp edges of the glass can cause injury (a rubber spatula would be safer). Whilst this class was a fun experience with friends, the tuition and guidance throughout was abysmal.
