HI! Thanks for checking out the channel! I just love music. I love many genres and artists and I think music can be such a cool thing to connect people together. I check out music from all over the world on this channel!
Your feeling of regret on not finding wildflower earlier is so relatable for so many fans 😭... a lot of new fans ask themselves why didnt i find bts earlier. But the other fans say BTS finds you exactly when you need them. Indigo is an album for art lovers, a song called YUN (referencing an actual korean painter namjoon loves and his voice talking about aristotle) a song called Still life, saying fuk you to the ai, and a masterpiece like wildflower all on one album Wildflower had people bawling. That track is so powerful. Youjeen is an older vocalist for a band called cherry filter. Her voice is incredible. The entire concept for the album, the indie retro take on it, namjoon crafted it beautifully. At the same time when right place wrong person came out we realised this albums lyrical content was a sort of denial to his own troubles. He was trying to comfort himself and supress the anger. That anger later came out on rpwp. BTS members music chronologically tracks their emotions. They all just talk through their music. Its so autobiographical and metaphorical at the same time. Its been like that from the beginning. If you want to know about teenage RM you can just go and listen to a track put out around 2013 and you will see exactly how he was feeling at that age. RM in 2016? You can go listen to a 2016 bts album and you will find out what he was thinking at the time. Its an incredible discography. Listening to RMs solo music and him as a bts member is like watching him (and the members ) grow up as human being and go through so much stuff that humans go through. The discography and, their thoughts, their musings on their own life can be a guide for the listener who is also growing up.
I know you would really like rap line albums, you can check agust d (suga fo bts) albums: agust d, D-2, DDay. Also jhope's albums jack in the box and hope on the street. If you like R&B and jazz you can check V's album (taehyung) Layover.
the artistic theme is very beautiful because rm talks about how his life around mono was just like mono: even reflecting his own personal clothing style where he wore predominantly b&w. This directly correlates to Yun Hyung-keun’s own artistic journey where he first primarily did not use bright colours other than monochromes of black, off-white etc. However, RM then further develops out of his own style, opting for a more natural look, and starts to incorporate earthy styles and tones, sustainable wear. In Indigo, in both album title and the Yun painting on the cover, he explores the Indigo as a naturally formed colour. This also reflects Yun’s own artistic journey where he starts to incorporate indigo (he primarily uses naturally formed pigments as he was creating art in a period of war with scarce materials, something RM also mentioned in his album breakdown and Zach Sang interview) in his later works.
Keep in mind that since it came in Dec 2022 with Mono coming out in 2018, Indigo covers the Pandemic and everything that happens then. It makes Forgetful make more sense with that piece of context, I think :)
Please please please check out the suga solo albums as well! He is also a producer in the group, as a solo artists he goes by agust D. I sincerely recommend D-2 and D-Day his last two project he produced all the tracks on both projects please do the these
You should react to these two video that RM talks abt the songs on Indigo and Right Place Wrong Person: -Indigo Magazine Film (on BangtanTV channel) -Minnimoni video (on Bangtan tv) P.S. in the Fiesta 2022 (every year BTS celebrate their debut with ARMY and it is like 1-2weeks long. They sometimes release performances, new songs, a chat with each other and ARMY, etc) RM explains how he feels lost and experiencing burnout & needs some time to figure things out (this is also when they announced or explain that they are going to take a break 1. Due to mandatory military service 2. They need a break from each other to figure themselves out without being so focused on the group (musically &. as humans.)…. Although bc of Map of the Soul 7 (album) & knowing what their song Black Swan is abt, honestly isn’t surprising. They were going to take this break earlier but the pandemic ruined their plans. Then they released Dynamite to uplift ppl during covid which made them gain even more fame & they also did TONS and TONS of other things to keep ARMY busy and happy during covid & tons of performances. So even throughout all that they were (or some of the members were) experiencing burn out but still working super hard, not to mention anything else added with what they felt during the pandemic themselves…So let’s just say they have been having a hard time for years now and this hiatus and military service was a needed break for them to find their own color (hence solo albums) and other things… this will be and is healthy time for them for when they come back in 2025.
Wildflower is the title track for Indigo. When the song dropped it totally broke me. I had never ugly cried like that ever! And for days! And has solidified my love for BTS and RM (who is my bias). I had been following BTS and their story since Jan 2022 but didn’t consider myself a fan until Oct 2022. So when this song dropped (Dec 2022) I was aware of BTS’s backstory and some struggles RM as the leader was going through. I was going through something similar in my own life. Not to his scale of course but I was having storms in my head and heart but unable to make sense of it. This song just helped me put all those thoughts into a poetic explanation so that I can make sense of it and let my emotions pour out. There’s a mv to wildflower. You should watch it….it visually adds to the emotions in the song and I love it. There’s a video (something like magazine film) where RM goes through the album explaining the meaning and purpose behind the songs. I liked the album before, but after watching that vid, I loved it even more. I feel like rms music needs to come with Cole’s notes. But it does really help open your mind and dive into RMs mind
His lyrics .. it's always makes my heart calm yet sad but happy at the same time .. like his lyrics and music has that Rollercoaster of emotions .. I die for this bts rap line ..they three have this raw lyrics which makes my emotions reach at peak ..
25:20 true, but some speculation from fandom is because bts/rm is on top of their game, and it must’ve felt lonely being in top, and everyone else was looking for your next move to the top or downfall.
Could you please check out Agust D (suga of BTS ) solo studio album D-Day or Jhope Album Jake in the box and hope on the street Album , or Jimin face Album , Jungkook Golden album . They are solo Albums of the members. One of the members jin is coming back from military, i guess he may have a album out too . Bts Albums ? Where do you like yo start ? They have 9 or more album (am i right ?)
Oh my boy. Gracias ❤ 🎉❤🎉❤
"This would be perfect for the radio" "this should be all over the radio".... lol... yeah about that... there are 2 things working against him/them - non-fully English and they don't pay for radio play so they get zero spins. We cheer when a song literally gets 25 spins total across the country that comes after hundreds of requests.
“He’s consistently good, but he consistently changes his sound.” YES!! None of his albums/mixtapes sound the same but all are so good & interesting 💜 Thank you for reacting to our leader’s albums!
oh just wanted to add, based on your commentary I think you’d like watching his Indigo Album Magazine Film, where he explains his thoughts for each song in the album. You can watch it on your own if you don’t feel like recording a reaction, but I think you’ll enjoy it!
14:07 Kim is Korea's most common family name and in Korea (and other east Asian countries) you write names with the family name first so her given name is Sawol. Both her and RM and 2 other members in BTS all have the family name Kim even though they aren't related. Kim Namjoon (RM) Kim Seokjin (Jin) Kim Taehyung (V) Kim Sawol fun fact: Anderson Paak is half Korean and the name Paak is a way of romanizing the Korean family name 박 or Park which also is Jimin's family name and Korea's third most common family name.
although mono is my favorite work from rm, i love the production and structure of rpwp the most. WHILE WILDFLOWER AND CHANGE PT2 is my favorite songs from him. IDK, HE JUST MAKES GREAT MUSIC (art)
2:18 SPEAKING OF HIS PRESENCE, CHECK OUT HIS COLLABORATION BECAUSE HE IS DIFFERENT IN THOSE TRACKS!! LIKE YOU COULD HEAR THE SWAG AND HIS LYRICISM. SEXY NUKIM(balming tiger), SMOKE SPRITE (So!yoon), and DONT EVER SAY LOVE ME (colde)
About Yun, RM was very influenced by the Artist Yun Hyong Keun. RM has derived this lesson from Yun’s life, which was marked with tremendous hardships. He lived through the aftermath of Japanese colonial rule in Korea, the Korean war, and the postwar dictatorship era. Throughout his life, he fought for his rights and had many close encounters with death and imprisonment. " In his time, people were starving and there was art, but most people were [focused on getting] food and [the need to] survive…I could never imagine how they could think of art at those times - [through] the wars, the fights, the politics. That’s why I have a big respect [for] especially him. He never bowed down to the bad things." I think this was RM struggling but he didn't get it all out like he did with Right Place, Wrong Person. Tablo is part of Epik High. They are incredible.
Please check the lyrics by Doolset Lyrics they have lyrics to BTS group songs and solo projects. They usually have the most accurate lyrics but also with explanations to language and cultural things and double meanings etc that get lost in translation or hard to understand for non-Koreans and also sometimes links or explanations to things BTS reference in their lyrics.
This album feels like an awakening to me. Been so braindead listening to mainstream music. This album jerks my brain awake This isn’t even the type of music I generally listen to, but I’m craving more. At first listen I was so confused. But the more I listen to it, the more I’m hearing and the more impressed and obsessed I’m getting. The instrumentals….the layers…. 👩🍳🤌🏼
Hi Steven i like your reactions on both RPWP and Mono and now looking forward to your reaction to his Indigo album. Im 53yrs old mom and i love Namjoon's (and BTS') music. 'Everything goes' have a special spot in my heart. I would usually play BTS' music at work (being a BTS army) I was having a hard time that day and Jinaga/Everything Goes came on the playlist and it just hit me that day, that no matter how hard i was struggling, it will just pass. Often times i catch myself being comforted by their songs. Its the indepth understanding of their songs and artistry that will solidify your love and therefore become a solid army. That was how it is for me. Its not just a fad or just go by the beat like i would with pop music. With RM and all of the BTS members, their music are on a different level. It will make you think, it awakens a part of you that makes you appreciate yourself, your emotions (as well as others), and make you feel good in general. I hope you get to experience these too while discovering their whole discography coz there is definitely a story there that i know (as an army), you will appreciate. Good luck and God bless your day! Borahae.💜💜💜
i think i agree with the heaven analysis. i interpreted it as like the person he loves isn’t going to heaven, so him being with them is them metaphorically taking heaven from him (whether in a biblical sense or spiritual). but he is so devoted to them that he would be willing to be submit to eternal damnation if he could stay with his lover.
