Sorry, but it was far from the fastest car of its time! The body, interior and frame and suspension are excellent. The conventional, 5 liter, supercharged, OHV straight 8 was a major let down in this otherwise superlative machine. 160 HP? Powerful? 100 MPH top speed? In comparison, the American made Duesenberg SJ was powered by a 6.88 liter (420 cu.in.) dohc straight 8 with 4 valves per cylinder and hemispherical combustion chambers. With supercharger, it produced 320 HP and a top speed of 130 MPH. Two versions of this engine with a special intake manifold produced a 400 HP car that could reach 140 MPH! It was the fastest, most powerful production car on the planet for many, many years! Everyone's comments are spot on criticizing the showing of replicas in lieu of actual Mercedes Benz cars. Shame, shame!
