i also grew up in the COGIC NorCal Jurisdiction. During that time the Bishop was B.R. Stewart. The Presiding Bishop was J.O. Patterson, Mother Elsie Shaw and Bishop Ithiel Clemmons were killing it at the Memphis Convocation with early morning prayer and teaching. I went to Memphis for congregations a few times and just went to the morning sessions, some of the day service and then the late night with the unforgettable Evangelist S. E. Mitchell, who held a revival at Bishop Patterson's church after the evening service. Magical.

Father, I thank You for sending Your Son to redeem me from the curse of the law. In him I have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of my trespasses, according to the riches of Your grace. I was included in Christ when I heard the word of truth, the gospel of my salvation. Having believed, I was marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, a deposit guaranteeing my inheritance until the redemption of those who are Your possession-to the praise of Your glory.
