the tesla is absolute garbage compared to the lyriq... all the bullcrap that doesnt matter like the phone app or charging stations or the buying experience... who cares... the car itself is whats important... you litterally cant drive anything else after you drive the cadilac
To properly compare the Liriq to a Tesla, it has to be versus the Model X, not the Model 3, which is much, much cheaper car than the Liriq. What you're doing is basically comparing a Cadillac to a Toyota corolla from a price point and size point of view. The Model X is much closer to that $70,000 plus price point of the Liriq after the dealer gets through with you.
@@junehanzawa5165 You are exactly right, however in our household I can only compare what we have. These are our opinions and I believe can be an informative and entertaining project for someone interested in EV’s.
@@RickWeaver5544 I see. Thanks for the explanation. At the end of the day, it's great that all manufacturers (some more than others -- cough, cough Toyota and the other Japanese) are coming out with their own EV's. There's no stopping, or even slowing down, this transition regardless of the naysayers and the Murdock misinformation empire say.
@@junehanzawa5165 Many people are looking at EV’s for the first time and have no idea what features are included with what price points. Just like going to buy a new tv, if you’re not familiar with all the features available and are at what price point, you’ll probably look at $500 and $2000 models to see what you can get for what you want to spend.
2024 Model 3 owner here (since March)... you just need to adjust your settings on the locks page to go back to normal settings like you had before. Another helpful tip is that the car will put itself in park whenever you unbuckle your seat, no need to tap and hold the screen.
@@tomjackson3328 thanks for the info…someone had told me since posting the video how to change the lock settings which I have now done. Works just like I want it to now. Also didn’t know about the seatbelt feature.
@@RickWeaver5544 I learned from this channel called Black Tesla. Autoshift also helps with swiping at the screen less but for some reason Model 3 still doesn't have full Autoshift capability like the Model S has had for some time now. ru-vid.comQ9NBg30UsSk?si=uNeAdlXZGC5CHxTp is a youtube short from the same channel demonstrating how Autoshift works.
@@tomjackson3328 Thanks, I subscribed to his channel. I don’t think my model 3 has the auto shift, i wasn’t able to find it, but will try again while out driving rather than just trying to find it sitting in the garage.
I'll not say a word about exterior visual of cars because it's subjective topic.. comfort is the only advantage that Cadillac have over the tesla, but I doubt Cadillac will be around for the time when I will need parts in the future
I bought the Lyriq over tesla model X - The pricing was much better. Tesla was also radio silence when it came to getting questions answered about their cars. The tesla door thing was just plain weird to operate. I am 6'4" and so is my brother and we both egress and ingress without issues with the Lyriq like any other Cadillac. On long trips with both of us in the back seat (our wives love to drive the Lyriq) work just fine comfort wise. Also the Lyriq is just a smoother ride over the tesla. Plus the 110 outlet is great for the mini fridge for the snacks on those occasional long trips we take. (keeps us away from the fast food along the way)
@@kelviskelvis7140 You stated in your video that your interior is leather which is only available in Oxford Stone and Juniper. The interior of the Lyriq which you show in your video is Sky Cool Gray which is Ultraleather made by Evotex. I believe that you mistated in yoiur video that it is leather.
What a fantastic, straight-forward video. I really appreciate the back-and-forth discussion. As I'm shopping for my first EV, this is probably the most informative comparison video I've seen between a Tesla and a top-quality non-Tesla EV.
Everyone has to do their own research related to charging. I can not charge at home as I rent, but I have EVgo fast charging very near my home so I charge for free whenever I buy groceries, that $3500 savings for me as compared to ICE (and around $1500 as compared to ICE). Without this option, I will not have bought EV. Plus, now you can charge Lyriq at superchargers too.
I have Lyrisport and I wouldn't own a Tesla based on the average person has one; Everyone has one. My brother had his first ride in my Lyrisport and he described it as an airplane on air... Not my first Caddi and the app is more useful than the viewer explains. Give it 60 days and you'll be amazed at this Ezv
@@George_Shonianot even close. An engine is about as inefficient a product as man can make, anywhere between 25 to 35%; while a motor is between 90 to 96% efficient. And a motor is a thousand times simpler to manufature and easier to maintain. That's why motors are all around you in everyday life. From your electric toothbrush, shaver, ceiling fan and all types of fans, your laptop or TV, your refrigirator, your vacuum cleaner, they're everywhere.
The electronic motor components being up front like that makes it easier for a mechanic to work on. Look at what all they have to remove on a Tesla to get to things. It's a lot of videos on here of it.
@drjekelmrhyde Neither tesla nor Lyriq offer front wheel drive only both are RWD or AWD. The major difference is the AWD version in the Lyriq has permanent magnet motors both front and rear where tesla only has a permanent magnet motor in the rear and uses only an induction motor in the front. Induction motors cannot recoup energy with one petal drive. (Rear does all the work). Your mechanic comment is not an issue in the traditional sense. Mercedes has 2 EV models that seal the hood as to not open up. There is not much to work on.
While Tesla has the charging network I have to say the Lyriq has all the other attractions. The Tesla interior is basically a tablet and nothing else. I’d have to get the Cadillac based on interior alone. I’ve sat in both and the impressions couldn’t be more different.
Same. You can tell Tesla needs a cash infusion by them opening up the charging network to other brands. It takes away the main advantage Tesla has in the market.
@@henryprice5716 : With Ford and Rivian already having access and GM and several others very, very close to having access, the one major advantage Tesla has had goes away, then it comes down to the vehicle itself. This is where I think the market will suddenly get very interesting. Choice is good and hopefully will make all brands better as they truly compete.
It’s hard to compare the Lyriq with any Tesla but the Model X. The Lyriq is objectively better, but Tesla’s advantage is the supercharger network. Also, Model X has a 3rd row. Until the Cadillac Vistiq launches, Tesla has the advantage. The Lyriq is more luxurious and so is the OPTIQ. Tesla’s interiors are too plain for the price they demand.
Thanks for viewing my video and commenting. The video is a comparison of two EV’s we have. All the information is our own personal experiences and thoughts. The supercharger network of Tesla is a significant advantage over Lyriq charging. Also the Tesla app is far superior to the Cadillac app which is not very useful at all. Tesla has many cameras all over the vehicle any of which can be viewed and downloaded, the Lyriq has a backup camera and birdseye view neither of which can be saved or downloaded. The Lyriq is $20,000 more than my Tesla so I would expect it to be more luxurious. Again, just our personal opinions and observations.
I looked at this trip but ultimately chose Via's Canadian because I wanted the sleeper train experience. I actually rode the Canadian from Vancouver to Calgary (through Banff) back in 86
Not sure how it was in 1986 but we were not aware of a sleeper train for a Vancouver to Banff/calgary trip. We wanted a first class luxury experience. Plus you would miss so much of the beautiful scenery at night . We are taking a Via Canada train this fall from Winnipeg to Churchill on a sleeper train. That is a 44 hour trip. Going to see the polar bears. Very much looking forward to the trip.
No unfortunately. The night we spent in Coldfoot was cloudy and even snowed that night. We were very unfortunate on that trip to have almost every night with cloudy overcast skies. That is not to say they weren't ever able to be seen, just never when we were awake and looking. I'm sure you could stay up all night and glimpse them from time to time. We are planning a trip to Churchill Manitoba Canada this fall to see the polar bears, hopefully we'll see the northern lights there.
I reserved a tour of Vancouver and Capilano Suspension Bridge. But after seeing your tour of Whistler I am considering Whistler instead. Do you recommend it more than Vancouver?
@@alng348 We did stay at the Fairmont. We stayed a couple extra days at our expense to do more sightseeing in the area. I would suggest booking a car rental in Banff in order to do area touring.
Good job Weaver! Nicely presented tour son! Whether it's the Denver Nuggets, Denver Omelets or Denver Broncos, there's plenty to do and see in Denver, so giddy up!
He buys a Tesla NOT EVEN CONSIDERING the environmental impacts?! He buys lottery tickets? 4.:23 and I haven't learned anything I didn't already know. I'm out of here.
Hello, we plan to take the same route. Could you please recommend hotels at Vancouver (and how you got to railroad station) and Banff (after you got off the train) and how you arranged your transportation from Banff Rail Station to Banff hotel? Did you stay extra days at Banff? Thank you.
The trip we booked on the ROCKY MOUNTAINEER included the first night at a hotel in Vancouver and the next two subsequent days. We did opt to go early to Vancouver and stayed at the same hotel but we paid for the extra night(s). They had a shuttle from the hotel to the train station the morning of the departure. We also opted to stay additional nights in Banff and stayed at the same hotel but we paid for the additional nights directly ourselves. I am not remembering the names of the hotels off the top of my head but they are the same ones the Rocky Mountaineer trip used. BTW plan on renting a car in Banff if you stay additional days, you’ll need it to visit the many incredible sites around the area.
@@RickWeaver5544 Thank you for the prompt and informative response. So they helped you book hotels before & after the trip. I was under the impression they only booked hotel for you between day 1 & day 2. I assume they also transported you from Banff rail station to your hotel? Did you have to call them to have them help you book or just used their website for extra hotel bookings? Thank you again.
We had to book the extra nights on the front and end of the trip ourselves. We made the reservations with each hotel online for the extra nights and paid for them separately. The Rocky Mountaineer had shuttles to the different hotels waiting at the train station to transport us.
The worst thing about owning a Tesla is that now I have a diesel Audi A6 that is never used! 428ft lbs of diesel power is no match for 700+ ft lbs of electric joy....I own the Audi, so no sense getting rid of my Apocalypse car.
Model3 is now 33k, after 9.5k gov rebate. But 1. you cannot make a long roadtrip with it unless stop every 2-3 hrs for half hour 2. at my place, 0.27c per kwh and 3.5 miles per kwh, means you do 13 miles per dollar, a corolla hybrid does 10 miles per hour assumig 5$ gas, over 200k miles its less than $5k saving. 3. range and miles per kwh drops with ac usgae and heater usage 😂 overall, economywise its as economic as a corolla hybrid, except you have to spend hours of your life in charging station or always have a garage😮
Never get a Tesla. Way overpriced for what they are. Interior quality is poor. Comfort is poor. Waste of money. Overrated car. Cannot trust half of the reviews on the internet.
Great review. Thank you for sharing. Though I work for one of the big 3, I would buy Tesla in a heartbeat. Very exciting how one person can do radically change the world to the better. Doesn’t happen often. For one guy like Elon Musk the humanity had to put up with Hitler, Stalin, a few Kims, Saddam, Qaddafi and now Pootin.
