I think your general disposition told more as a review! Not a glowing endorsement. I use a petrol strimmer for work. I know they are more expensive, but they are so powerful. I think the only advantage of electric is noise. Horses for courses. Thanks for posting though, it was informative.

How is holding it with the right hand? My old strimmer had a handle and safety switch and these new ones look like you just grip under the battery, which looks a bit odd. Hope this makes sense? Guess I’m wondering if it’s comfortable to hold!

All your hard work is bringing things back under control quickly, Helen - weedeating (strimming? 😊) always makes everything look so much cleaner and more spacious. I really need to do some (a lot!) of that myself! 😁😎 Yep, right on about the orange balm. I didn't realize that about lemon balm when I planted it years ago. It let me know! 😂 Now I'd rather grow Lemon Verbena! Your green beans are gorgeous - and squash and broccoli! 👏👏👏 Great job - speaking as a fellow solo gardener! ☺️

Yes, the heat has been hard this year, Helen - and around here, the smoke, too. 😢 But even though weeds and pests have overtaken some of your veggies and fruits, a lot of your garden still looks great and is producing nicely!😊 Love those pure-speckled beans! ❤ (They look like Dragon Tongues I grew a few years ago.) That looks like a very lovely juicy strawberry! I managed to get up to my plot for the first time in a week to have a proper look around this morning. I don’t think I’m going to get any sweetcorn this year. It’s less than a foot tall so I think my chances of garnering any harvest from it can be forgotten😢. I did pull up armfuls of onions though, and I still have a lot more to pull up next week. I think with the weeding, it is just tackling one bed at a time and prioritising which one you do first…

Great use of the space growing in containers Helen. My mother grew a lot in containers as we didn't have a garden in the apartments I grew up in. As that area gets a decent amount of sun you can turn it into a kitchen garden with herbs and things that you can pick fresh as you need it. Freshly picked mint to go in your mojito whenever you fancy one! Salad leaves would be good too. I am thinking of turning part of my home garden into a kitchen garden so I can get things fresh and fast rather than going to the allotment. Looking forwards to see what you grow in there.

You may already know the unblemished and healthy looking broccoli leaves are delicious. If you compost them, you're discarding a very flavorful veggie. Yes, I litter pick but clean streets are not a budget priority where I live downtown. I was clearing out weeds/trees from some 'community' planters on a busy roadway, and planting in root veg, but the city nixed that.
