I started my falconry life in 1997 in Scotland and since then it's been my passion, love and lifestyle. For the time being I live in south wales and work at Carmarthenshire Falconry. It's a family run business and its a great place to do what I love most, Birds of prey, nature and wildlife. I am so lucky to be able to do my passion and have my family along for the ride.
If its a younger bird and their first hard pen feather on wing, will warm water work rather than hot? Shes bent it at a slight angle and obviously i cant cut it.
Hi im Anthony...Just wanted to ask if you know of any centres that specialise in rehoming eagles to good homes. I have rescued my eagle owl cassius in need of a home and next year looking to rescue an eagle of some type.
I'm always curious as to how fast a Harris Hawk can run! I can't find any information on that. It looks to me about 1 foot per second! That's only 7/10th of a mile per hour! But it could be 2 feet per second! That could be a human's regular walking speed, haha! I'd say your next video should be a 10-minute video titled "Walking My Hawk"!!!
I have never thought about looking into that before. That might have to be a video now, on how fast they can walk and run. That's going to be interesting setting that up and recording it to find out.
I loved how Blue folded his wings as he flew inside Luke's arms! It made sense that he would jump on his head since that would give him an extra boost.
I'd say Blue's just "feeling blue". Luke's gotta find his inner self and perhaps this hawk will realize that going straight through his hands is a breeze!
We take the Jesse's off to fly the birds and leave the flying straps on to fly so we still have something to hold the bird on the first if I need to. We use mews Jesse's and sometimes flying Jesse's but prefer to use permitted flying straps that are fixed to the anklet.
Awesome vid. I'm working on the same set up ( less cameras) for my HH. But as a better way of getting her fit for hunting season. Also to help get the my dog ( I know he's not a hunting breed actually a cattle dog ) a corgi mix to understand the idea of finding rabbit for our bird.
