It's a typical stream for the Yamaha's. My F225 is the same way and I just installed a brand new water pump, plus thermostats. My motor has zero corrosion inside, so there's no blockage. All the older F200's, F225's and F250's have that same stream.
Doesn't necessarily mean it's not messed up. Outboard motor shops aren't desperate for business like oil change places. Besides, they know it will be back at some point.
Also it's not a cheap job to do either. Those motors are usually $200 for a newer model outboard, then they typically charge 1.5hrs for the job. So depending on how much you already spent, they may not have wanted to say anything.
I have worked at a Honda plant for more than 15 years. My opinion is that Honda makes the greatest engines in the world. We work very hard to ensure the customer gets what they pay for. Their resale value is unsurpassed. If you want a discount, Honda might not be the brand you need to look for. There are other great outboards out there. Honda is the best!
frednorma1 2012 Bennington 20', I honestly don't pay attention to the speed, its a pontoon boat, i don't expect fast speeds out of it while having other people in it
