How would you quantify the performance differences between the F86 and the MiG-15? Historical accounts from both sides seem to treat them as comparable (with some advantages to one and others to the other), but from my (VERY) limited experience in DCS (i have them both, but haven't really flown them enough or flight-tested them), the MiG seem to outperform the Sabre in almost every metric important to ACM/BFM.
@@ilejovcevski79 If considered equal the Mig 15 outperforms the Sabre in every way on paper and in practice. But, you get that weening into the heavier/more draggy wing and subsequent loss of aileron control at high speed dives and aileron control is very bad at slower speeds. So, in terms of agility and ability to change state the Sabre has the definite edge due to hydraulicly assisted controls and better quality of manufacture. So, that is helpfull in dodging fire, doing high speed dives to escape and I would definitely not prefer to enter rolling scissors with the Sabre though as shown with rudder it can be done. But 1 on 1 at least in DCS the Sabre does not have a chance.
You did nothing wrong there, the AI MiG-21's (and some other planes) have infinite energy, making them really hard to out turn, even in newer planes like F-16's or MiG-29's.
Hint: don't try to correct near the basket. If you ain't plugging in without corrections, you ain't staying plugged either. PIO will kill you. Instead position and trim some distance from the tanker, and try to approach the basket without flight stick or rudder inputs, only throttle.
Pretty modest, don't have the time to play but I have managed to achieve satisfactory results at least for single player, My Specs are i5 -8600k @5Ghz, 32 Gb DDR4, GeForce 3070 and using a Quest 2 VR headset. Running the VR at 30% ASW and 80hz, settings on this occasion High with some medium, DLSS Quality/ DLAA though I would reduce some settings and go with DLAA only for VR then you avoid the worse artefacts from the combination of ASW and DLSS and looks very sharp.
I do happen to have a very nice video of the updated settings with the A-4 flying from HMAS Melbourne and the new S-3 tanker from last night, which I will upload later. Cheers!
how am I only coming across this oculus tray tool now.....I knew of the debug tool but not that one. How do you get the FPS details to show? as I'm sure the ODT one looked different
ctrl-del I beleive, www.bing.com/search?pglt=675&q=oculus+tray+tool&cvid=963ea439c3b940e785753eb458edbdb8&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBAgAEAAyBAgAEAAyBQgBEOsHMgQIAhAAMgQIAxAAMgQIBBAAMgQIBRAAMgQIBhAAMgQIBxAAMgQICBAA0gEIMzcxNGowajGoAgCwAgA&FORM=ANNTA1&PC=W069 does the same thing now i see it might not be reccomended anymore. Just set 30% in ODT for ASW once you start the game
I get the same or a little less FPS in VR, mine is a more shimmering. Cockpit looks great gages are clear, but just low FPS. Outside of VR I get 144 FPS.
Try fixing the ASW rate with Oculus Tray Tool, that's what I do is much more stable. If you leave the ASW to bounce by default it will require a lot of cpu to monitor the GPU load and fps which I don't have. So, I'm running 30% of 80Hz ASW, which give me mor or less stable 27fps across the board. I have tried 50% of72Hz but for some reason it was not that stable at the benefit of slightly less ghosting on fast objects.

Over-sped the flaps at 22:50. In the B model, carrier takeoffs are performed in full mil power, rather then full AB. This is mostly to prevent thrust asymmetry that can't be compensated for in case of an engine failure. But also, the lesser acceleration will give you more time to raise gear and flaps. The flaps should be up by 220 knots, which usually means raising the handle at 200. The Heatblur team made the flaps jamming mechanic somewhat random, as in they don't always jam at exactly the same g and airspeed, but they still did made them rather fragile. As in once you are inside torque-tube breaking points, you are most likely done for.
Thank you for the video. It would be really beneficial if you could show what resolution you are running at on the quest 2, what your graphics settings are in DCS and what settings you are using in oculus tray tool etc, to replicate your performance. Thanks in advance
Go to Oculus Tray Tool (third party app) or to the Oculus Debug Tool inside the diagnostic folder in the Oculus installation and set it to off. You need to do that after you start DCS. Keep in mind that with the recent Oculus app it uses OpenXR so even with ASW Off you still get the default reprojection from OpenXR which smooth things a lot. For someone used to VR, you can even get away with ASW off if in the higher half on fps. For example, if you get more than 40 fps you can run 80hz with ASW off and still be relatively smooth.
I'm but not active. Try experimenting with the asw reprojection settings on oculus tray tool and the refresh rate. 80hz regresh and 30fps reprojection which gives 27fpa constant works great for me on 3070. You might want to lower that to 18fps or even 72mhz and 30fps for 25 if you are not getting smooth fps
@@gloveside Hi, hope you are still playing the game... How do you force dcs to use forceVR and Open XR? I get the nvidia logo, and nothing more. In steamvr the game works fine, standalone i can't get it to work in VR. I have a 4070ti card intel i7
It ain't really about the fps for me but for the stability. After turning on MT i have stable 40fps on vr. before that it always ranged from 20-35 and was unstable.
Exactly, stability was top notch. I need to take care of the artefacting due to bitrate or overclocking. I believe the motion reprojection combined with high bitrate and all cpu loaded is contributing to the horizontal stripe. But this has nothing to do with MT as it happened before as well.
You will see more tangible benefits in 2d than VR since VR has overhead services which are competing for CPUY resources in addition to much higher GPU load
Maybe this one is better ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rwxwMyyhFdU.html. However I have no idea what the stats were before, since I was not using OpenXR or maybe I was since it is enabled by default. So, have to repeat it on single threaded, but no time to elaborate. I have a feeling that there are less stuters.
Hey you guys help me out didn't the F-15 Strike Eagle break all kinds of Zoom to ceiling records speed records the aircraft didn't even have pant on the aircraft ..
The F104 may have set speed and altitude records but it had poor low speed handling and could not carry much ordinance. In Germany it had a reputation of being a widowmaker
The Starfighter usually would turn with its flaps in take off - it could deploy them up to a pretty high speed, and it let them turn with unslatted F-4s

NF 104 was also designed to fly in zero G condition with control of jets (RCS trusters) for attitude control. Neil Amstrong was one of the astronauts that also trained with similar JF 104
Of course, that was the first thing that I tried to do after installing :-) Though I haven't played with F-104 since release, cool plane, but limited time so playing some more high fidelity modules instead. Want to try the latest release some of these days.
