I do love KBUR when I need a nice relaxing afternoon controlling. I enjoy using 08 for the arrivals, and 15 for the departure. A bit of cross runway action to add some interest to the session.
I actually use a microphone and a boom. The ATR2100 mic . I do have an ESKA headset but I have never used the headset mic. So, I'm probably not much help when it comes to headset mics.
@@realgenxgamer oh no it doesn’t have to be headset mics just whatever works best for the simulator because I’ve heard others having voice recognition issues with headset mics, so I was wondering if a microphone or headset mic would be better for the simulator. Thanks for your reply and great video by the way!!
@@antonioportelli1002 I have always had good luck with ATR mics. They are affordable and voice rec seems to be on point with them. Plus with some tweaking they sound good when recording too.. I have always thought that stand alone mics were the way to go although I know tech has come a long way with headset mics now too. VR has been good with this one. Thanks for the kind words and for watching!
Yeah right, It was pitch black for sure. Would have been more to see if I did it during the day. At least I didn't crash the thing. Thanks for watching!
Nice sim!! Hey in Career mode at Raleigh the departing Fronteirs do not respond. This would be the first Raleigh challenge. Do you have the same problem?
You know, I actually have never played Career mode. So I don't know (however it wouldn't surprise me. But when I do I will let ya know. Thanks for watching!
Nicely done. I hope the 'new arrivals' in particular benefit from these shorter, super specific Tutorial format videos. I do have a question (as always). At 3m26s you say "we need them facing in a southerly direction - in the direction of 22L - to go down Taxiway Kilo to 4R". I'm not getting this. Did you mean to say "in the direction of 4R"? The pushback they execute doesn't leave them heading in the direction of 22L, so far as I can tell. In the scenario after this one you have them facing North to make their way to 22L.
@@kreggsmith2505 When I get back in my office I will check and let ya know. I do know sometimes plane sounds randomly disappear on some aircraft. I'll let ya know what they are when I get in.
Great question. There is no reference on any of the screens. I basically go by compass headings. 360/0 being north, 90 being east, 180 being south and 270 being west. So I know that 4R is a heading of 40 which is departing North / East (more north than east) . Another example would be if there is a runway 27, it would be at a heading of roughly 270, which would be a west departure. Hope that makes sense.
In addition to realgenxgamer's answer, CGP Grey has a great video on runway numbering. But, yeah... the 4 means it faces (approximately) direction 040, which is north(ish).
@41:38 and onward ... 🤣 "Controller experiencing an aberration. Similar to hypoxia, but more like inner comedy coming to the surface." The De-Brief ~ " I really tried to stay focused in the midst of my own chaos. However, I chose to ride that wave. " - Gen X Gamer circa 2024
While watching this and seeing some issues already addressed in the comments, I had a "pipe dream" and wondered if this simulation could simulate a percentage of "bird strikes", aborted take-offs, mechanical failures, etc. Have an 'Arcade Style' Chaos missions section. 😂
@@stewiepid4385 That would be 😂😆😂.... Arcade Style Chaos... It would be nice to have a very rare failure happen once in a while to deal with in the sim though.
@0:28 Hey now! That "Hoopty" is getting you from point A to B. Needs a Rubber Chicken mounted somewhere on it. Just can't decide where ... I did not know you were showcasing this game. I turned my notifications on. Good stuff.
No it doesn't. Sometimes I just RP it. It use to let you say additional stuff in Tower!3D Pro without it messing up but in this new version it doesn't. Sometimes if I say it fast enough I can get away with it. Or I release the talk button and say it. Just for Role Play purposes when I feel like saying it.
You may have cleared Blue Streak to land, but didn't listen to his reply. Probably didn't understand the command. Your tag was red when you said Blue Streak was on short final. If they are cleared to do something i.e... Take off or Land, their tag turns green. They will be the only thing on your screen that is green. If you have a plane approaching the runway with a red tag, the AI thinks it hasn't been cleared.
Thanks for watching and the comment. I wasn't aware of this. Every time I have driven down there plane spotting they were using 3L/R and 4L/R. I didn't realize they primarily use N/S. So I just kinda defaulted to it unless wind is an issue. Appreciate the comment.
@@realgenxgamer no worries! I live only a few miles away from the airport so they’re always flying over my house whether it’s north flow or south flow lol
I went in and modded the color settings. I changed the colors about 3 or 4 episodes ago. These colors help me see it better for sure. Maybe at some point when I have time I will do a video on it. It would have to be done on every airport.
Where can you find the name of the type of plane each is, this game screams for a tool tip. I like playing without the tags but I'm always fighting the camera, it frustrates me.
If I understand what you are asking. There should be a name tag on the center of the strip when you are controlling. For Example Delta 1433 (Delta | A321) Look at 2:42 in this video. Second red strip down. Again, if I am understanding what you are asking. 🙂
This video featuring the newest upgrade was the motivation I needed to purchase this and walk away from FeelThere Tower 3D Pro. I have been following your KDTW series and taking a LOT of notes. Going to try some of your 'mods' too. @21:40 "Sky West should stop ..." As I watched, I thought it was not going to stop!
That is awesome! I think it is still on sale today. You will definitely enjoy it. Thanks for watching as always and yeah he looked like he was going to taxi through that runway and I knew I had not instructed him to do so. 🤣😂🤣
www.atcprosim.com/ This simulator is no longer supported and no other airports will be added. It is my understanding one of the main developers became I'll. So if you buy it just understand there will be no updates or anything. Thanks for watching and for the question!
I was skimming this hoping for a walk thru on modding ADIRS 😇. Had to smile at the UAL 1957 / DAL 492 flustercluck. If that's a conflict then there's not much that isn't.
The good ole conflict that wasn't.... Maybe at some point I could do a tutorial on how to mod the ADIRS in the future. It would take a little time to put together.
@@realgenxgamer I got to Digging into the Discord later last night. It's complicated enough, but not insurmountable. I managed to get the background color to look like yours. Decided to hold off any further ambitions for a bit. I imagine a tutorial would be well received.
Could you please refresh my memory on which setting in Camera Look at Plane Mode you were using for this vid. Congrats on the new system. I am guessing that anything you could provide in the way of overviews for the Video settings in particular would be appreciated by a lot of viewers. BTW - in addition to expanding the horizon lines for at least some of the facilities I've opened since upgrade, there are some where the max. Shift+E gives a 'way up high in the sky view'. Try it at VRMM, but go for a sunny day. Hard to believe it rains in Paradise.
Sure, here are my settings for the camera... Look at the Airplane Key - Right Alt (I use this one because I use Right Shift for Push to Talk) This keeps them close and I can use my left hand on those (middle finger on R-shift and pinky on R-alt) while using the other hand for the mouse. Camera look at airplane mode - On/Off Smoothness - 0.10 Sensitivity - 1.00 Speed - 1.00 Camera FOV - Keep I know it is more than what you were asking for. Consider it a bonus. LOL 🤪
@@realgenxgamer Hey I'll take all the bonuses you can send our way. Where you lead, we will follow. You could add a little commentary on these guys if you did a Video Settings tutorial. Hint, hint.
I had to smile at your 1610 hrs 'timed' departure on your strip. That's been around for eons. The catch is that it only shows if you have your Game Setting for Runway Separation set to Time Based. I 'grew up' on Time Based, and then somehow switched to Distance Based, lost the time displaying on Departure strips and was none too happy til I got help getting it back. Check it out but I suspect you have been playing Distance Based. FWIW I found Time Based really helpful at OMDB where mixing J's and H's left me getting conflict notices without Time.
So much to say. Update - jaw dropping. Entirely. Re. Data Tags on/off - for those new to the game, a quality of life essential. The more one plays, the less one needs them. That said - I can easily see their benefit when cutting teeth on a new, large facility, just to answer questions of 'what is where'? Their drawback - clutter. Thank goodness they had the presence of mind to have an on/off toggle, and to make it immediately available. So for your work, run with it both ways - on for a bit to make a point, then off for a bit as you wish.
I just loaded this sim and for the start the data tags are good for the beginner (especially cause I am non English guy). Two things I am missing are more shortcut choices and the sim remembering multimonitor settings.
Thanks for the video, just set it up as you said and work perfectly, even the second monitor. A shame it doesn't save the settings though, but still makes the game much more enjoyable
Would make your experience much better. Also use the cleared for (immediate) takeoff upon reaching altitude 1000 contact departure. This makes the aircraft contact departure by themselves.
Gate 4 - another gift - this time a command to a departing aircraft already aloft to fly a heading prior to giving Contact Departure. In the world of Hi Octane Stimulus Seeking Simulation these slices of Reality Pie are great. I'm going to try one with 'turn R/L xx degrees'. This was recently re-fixed in the game.
Gate 3 - UPS3691 vs. GTI3486 - and the winner is...? 3486 went off Rwy 20R in Episode #17 (at 23m30s), whereas 3691 needed Rwy 13. For sure 20R, at 8,000' is no comparison to 13 at 11,000', but I'm trying to figure out how two similar sized(?) aircraft could manage on shorter/longer runways. The roll for 3691 suggests all 11,000' was needed. Sub-question: did anything specific make you send UPS off on 13 as opposed to the closer to Cargo 31?
Nothing in particular. I probably thought 13 was closer for some reason. LOL These timestamps help because I wouldn't otherwise remember anything. 🤣 I actually took some time and watched part of this episode. I think I did this one 6 months ago or so.
Gate 2 - Back in #17 the Taxiway instructions to Rwy 20R were far more complex. Did you just find that much detail wasn't needed and therefore simplified? I wondered if the more detailed instructions were meant to avoid the "more logical routing" nonsense, but I know that's also been addressed by upgrade activity that's come out since this video was made.
Sometimes, I personally just like to change it up a bit. So that is what I did. Just to try other ways of doing it. As long as it makes since to do so.
@@realgenxgamer And it will be helpful for anyone new to the game who finds themselves working thru this good stuff and seeing different ways to go about it.
Gate 1 - In Episode #17 everything was 'Contact Nashville Departure'. My understanding is that Simple Departure in the Settings means there's no requirement to include the frequency, but that doesn't influence the 'Nashville' part. So did you go into the guts of the frequency.csv file to drop the Nashville part?
@@realgenxgamer That's interesting. There was a lot of sadness on Discord when KSFO ( I think) came out as one of the early ones that required "SoCal Departure". Players were wondering how to get rid of the SoCal part - that's where I got the idea from. Again, maybe something happened in an upgrade and it's no longer an issue.
FYI you've become a You Tube Advert Magnet. That's a good thing! At 46m0s Game time he says 'as you can see we've got a lot going on here'. But once again, because you housekeep your tags it is far easier to understand what's going on. Nice blend of Tower & Field - that's like Field & Stream. But, some questions. Separate Gate for each one 😊.
Yeah, I was actually just reviewing one of my episodes and I was surprised at all the ads. I guess YT is making money off of me. From my understanding I have to have 1000 subs and a bunch of hours watched, don't remember the exact number, to make some pennies. Anyway, KBNA is one of my favorites to control. So glad you are enjoying these. I try to put thought into the production of these episodes as best as possible on the fly for the viewers since I rarely have an edit in these. It's not perfect, but folks seem to enjoy it and it keeps me on my toes managing the tower and the views. 🤪
@@realgenxgamer FYI I'm just coming back now to see that THIS was supposed to be the first Comment in the 'lineup' followed by the Gate Questions. Good thing YT doesn't control traffic like us guys. ADDENDUM UPDATE - Duh. Someone (couldn't have been me 🤣) changed the sort order for the Comments. Now that's "fixed" everyone's lined up to roll.
Wow. You demonstrate an exquisite familiarity with the facility and "what's needed when" to keep things going. I haven't encountered anyone else, in my relatively modest travels, who sequences 5 taxiways into a command. And it works! Thanks for doing housekeeping on your tags so that they remain readable (no overlap) when we go back into the Tower. Question: How do you know about conflict risk for 20C and 20R - did you 'discover' it, or is there documentation for the game that advises this? Ep. 20 here I come.
Wow, thanks for the kind words. There is no documentation for conflict risk unfortunately. I discovered it at another airport. Don't remember which one off hand, I ended up with a penalty. So I just assumed it was the same here. But I didn't test it at KBNA. I guess I probably should since I'm not that concerned about my stats.
A little Binge Watch for BNA 🤣. Is it me or is your way up high in the sky pan camera like, really way up? It's a wonderful view, just can't remember any other facility where the game parameters have made that possible. Re. the ADIRS Orientation - I wish I could manage traffic like you can, where the ADIRS view is opposite to what I would see from Tower view. I'm thinking 35m07s video time where JBU is going L to R down 20R on ADIRS, but R to L out the window. I would have to flip that for sure or I would have brain fry. Zen Session. Loved it.
So the KLGA Saga draws to a close. This series has given me a much better feel for just how tight Arr/Dep can be sequenced. The change in arrival speed down to about 130 knots from 220 when the Sim first came out makes a big difference. Question: For DAL476 coming in at 26m58s and needing to march back to Terminal C at the head end of Rwy 31 - is there anything to be gained speed wise by having him on Twy B instead of A? I'm thinking of KRDU where there's a decided speed difference between F and B on the Terminal 2 side of the field. B being further away than A at KLGA, does the same speed advantage apply as at KRDU?
I think you are correct. There probably is a speed advantage using Bravo. Knowing me, I probably used A all through the episode to keep the traffic flow consistent for my old head. But DAL476 probably could have taxied faster on B.
Awe, you need more Old Guys like me finally showing up a year later to state definitively that - for anyone coming on board now or in the future, this is IMHO 🙂a ground breaking, award winning (another Dr. Pepper?) episode. This is the guy who would go on to produce barn burning videos at TXKF that basically stood the understanding and entertainment level of the game on its head - AND was kind enough to share, in detail, how he did the deed.
