Hi, Thanks for your comment It's not just about how much any country is holding gold in any particular year but also you can see the trend for e.g., Russia has around 400 tonnes of gold in Year 2000 but till Q1 2024 it increased it's gold holding to around 2300 tonnes. Same with China. From this we can analyse how countries are reducing it's dependency on US dollar and looking for other options as well.
There are many factors, few of them are : 1. Fiscal deficit - One of the primary reason is the government spends more than it earns, leading to borrowing to finance the deficit. 2. Insufficient revenue generation, compare to expenditure commitments this leads to borrowing to bridge the gap. 3. Economic Slowdown 4. Infrastructure Development etc...
