Have you not noticed that MTW doesn’t seem to care if people upload their videos? A ton of people upload their videos in the regular format without them being taken down, so why do this?

Hi, David! 🙂 Shrinking or distorting the image, backing it with a swirly screensaver, or changing the speed of the audio track makes it harder for RU-vid's automatic content-scanning algorithms to detect and report copyright infringements. It's not always necessary (depends on the original source). The BBC often overlooks pirated material because it's pretty harmless redistributing its niche panel games without permission; but angry outfits like Disney, any of the big film companies with Star Trek, Star Wars or Marvel franchises to protect, or the owners of the rights to The Beatles' music catalogue employ teams of predatory lawyers and are EXTREMELY litigious where RU-vid is concerned. Archie Amber is just being careful. His videos have been available for at least six years, so it looks like he's got away with it.
