If you want to corner with counter-lean, it is easier with foot out because it releases tension from the waist and you can move to the opposite side of the saddle. Same when getting the body off the saddle for classic sport riding, but reverse. Foot out is a good style for tight corners, but when riding supermoto/enduro the stance and bike is very playful and not stiff, so it makes you want to experiment more with the 3 styles (counter /straight /hanging), than on a normal street bike. Sitting high, on top of the front wheel inspires much of the style as well, as it gives different control of drifts and slides. Being high also raises the center of weight so the bike leans less for same speed and gives way for counter leaning. It is a pretty dangerous style if the foot catches though, so better practised while wearing good enduro or supermoto boots, with sliders.
