I'm so glad they improved on this shitty ending, if you had only sought out Tyreal to see about destroying it at the hell forge you would have never had to relinquish your humanity. Oh well, I guess it had to happen for there to be a Diablo 2.

Was he actually called Dark Wanderer in the first game? Or was that moniker added in the second? Also, does the second game change it to corresponding to the fighter? Or does it always have him as shrouded to signify any of the three classes?
Well after Aidan tried to contain Diablo within himself and after he failed, the evil made him wander east - it was the people who named him that - he wandered east and darkness followed him.
Why would you do what is basically inflicting a headshot on yourself? Everything aside, why would anybody want to puncture their skull and ram a big fucking stone into their brains? Why would you even expect to survive something like that?
One of the most disappointing ending sequences - and even more disappointing follow in the form of Diablo 2. The hero deserved a better ending. Not one that serves a sequel. Other than that, Diablo 1 was one of my best gaming experiences.
The good guys lost and they lost bad in this one. What was intended to be one of the greatest triumphs for the side of good in living memory was actually an ingeniously laid trap by evil.

One could think it was Diablos plan all along. King Leoric had two sons, one a warrior and one a small child, he decides to possess the child knowing that when the warrior returns home he will venture down to Kill Diablo. Diablo leaves the vital townsfolk alive to aid the warrioe only throws enough demons at him to have his skills greatly increase, then Diablo lets the warrior kill him, knowing that he will not be able to resist the soulstone, and Diablo will have a much more powerful vessel then a simple child.
