Hello Arden, the amount of hinges is similar to the amount in a regular sectional door. They are just installed in such a way that the door can easily fold.
All sectional doors are sensitive to damage. Door panels are quite sturdy, but obviously, if the door gets hit hard by a vehicle for example, this might damage the door in such a way that it may not function properly. In that case, panels can be replaced easily, and, in contrast to other door manufacturers, our prices for replacement parts are reasonable.
@@compactdoor That was basically my point. Is the line on the outside of the door part of the electric control? If its a control line, that seems vulnerable to physical hacking. Or is it just a tension line? I do have to say that its a good looking door.
@@michaelfoye1135 the line on the outside is a security line for the wicket door. It ensures that the wicket door is closed before opening the main door. As this is an external installation, this cable is on the outside, in a standard situation, it would be on the inside. If it is tampered with, it may block the door from opening, which is probably what you want in this situation. Thanks for your interest!

You are right, it's no rocket science. It is door science :-). Very curious to learn which (similar) door you are referring to that exists for 50+ years, as our door has been around for 25 years and as far as we know we were the first one...
In this particular example, there is an external installation. The door can also be installed with the door package on the inside. In both cases, the door is protected against burglars as the panels are secured by safety brackets that stick out in the side rails. The door cannot be lifted from the outside and as the control unit is inside, the door cannot be opened electronically.
:-) The door can be equipped with an emergency chain opener. This can be a solution in some cases. Unfortunately, all electronic doors have problems running smoothly in case of a power outage...
