Probably would have survived if he had been wearing his seatbelt, interior of the car looks relatively unscathed, the front crumple zone doing what it’s designed to do, but a unconstrained driver is going to be using his head and body to act as his own personal crumple zone. Don’t drink and drive and belt up before starting your vehicle.
Good video! These and much more graphic ones of DUI crashes should be a required viewing in school to educate our community from an early age and to warn against impaired driving. Some schools do cover the topic. Many don’t.
This needed to be shown. I lost a sibling which began in a DUI related car accident. Subsequent injuries and surgeries led to their death at just 36. It was tragic and preventable 😰
I have a family member that was drunk and fell asleep in a moving car as the car driver and hit a tree in crossplains where I live my dad is this person he survived somehow
Ive had to save people in crashes its always the best people who end up getting screwed. I keep a full medical kit in my car along with a fire extinguisher after a giant fire almost ignited a tesla only thing i could do was call the fire department i had nothing to fight it learned a lesson that day.
Had a third generation ranger like the white truck in this video, 18 year old t boned me and my truck flipped multiple times. Thank God we both came out unharmed. I suggest everyone to get a dashcam.
Goddamn, good thing when I drive drunk, I'm very self-aware of my ability to drive. (JK, I've never driven _that_ drunk, it's always been no more than 2 servings of alcohol while having a meal. If I can't stay within the lines, I'll pull TF over. I don't even like alcohol much.)
I came across a similar wreck. The car was in 3 pieces. The driver was still in his seatbelt smashed by the tree. Passenger was lucky and was ejected but survived. Beer cans everywhere. Still haunts me to go down that road. I remember getting points at work for taking the day off after this and the boss not understanding because its a part of life. I had to get my head right for a day.
Like in those Osha films u watch with gore and blood , makes u think ! Should of filmed it , but your decision was best as the safety of the drivers (not the thug) was most important
@@-cvq My wife was in a bad crash with our youngest but had the capacity to understand that if she freaked out it would freak him out. She put on her momma bear face and got things handled and then behind closed doors with me she broke down and let the emotions out. So I'm not going to buy that parents just get to lose their shit in front of their kids because of a car accident.
A bit of medical advice. Don't let anybody who is injured, by any cause, drink or eat. There is a safety issue if they become unconscious later on, it happens, or they require surgery latter. You would be surprised how people appear stable, trying to walk, not much blood or injury visible, then suddenly they start to react to their injuries or crash. Stay safe everyone. You guys did a great job.
If there was a six month mandatory minimum for DUI with no way for people to hire lawyers and get reduced charges DUI's would drop. the second offense should be 1 year minimum with mandatory treatment and verification. Drunk drivers kill more than any other type of crime

I'm a former police officer. Some times I have been forced off the road by drunk drivers. I turned around and had a roadside discussion with them. One of them was a man and wife on their honeymoon having just been married hours before. He didn't even know what state he was in. His wedding night was in a cold jail cell on a hard mattress. I was out to get drunk drivers and I won't apologize for making life a little tougher for them and the money it cost them for years to come.
