As a guitar player of many years, his level of playing is truly amazing. Then the way he writes lyrics and delivers it vocally is outstanding. That is the reason why those legends are all looking in total appreciation and love. True Legend!
Chilling a bit til Linda wakes up. I am a life long fan of Chet Atkins since my late bf Bud Miller introduced me to his talent in my teens. Imo he's the world's best...he's taught many well known guitarists, and influenced all who know him.
I did not hear this song until a couple of years ago and it has become my song! I was guided to this song and it is so true! I was lost for years after I lost both my parent, after hearing this song things made sense to me! Elvis thank you for making things clear to me! ❤❤
...that GR' solo is "right up there" w/ jimmy pages's "stairway to heaven"... but didn't take so long to get to it & do it!...love to all...especially CC!...
Always brings tears to my eyes, recalling those friends and loves lost to time. I would kindly love to connect with them again, but that is an impossibility. R.I.P., Mr. Campbell.
This recording was done live on "Ryman Country Homecoming" filmed on April 22, 1999 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. On stage along with Glenn were Chet Atkins, Waylon Jennings, Lorrie Morgan, Willie Nelson, Roy Clark, Lynn Anderson, Bobby Bare, T. Graham Brown, Ralph Emery, Janie Fricke, Barbara Fairchild, Larry Gatlin, Crystal Gayle, Ray Stevens, Geezinslaw Brother, Ferlin Husky, Dan Seals, T.G. Sheppard, B.J. Thomas, Ricky Van Shelton, Porter Wagoner, and Gene Watson. Chet had been diagnosed with cancer reoccurence and had a brain tumor removed two years earlier. and he had a rough go of it. Him palying the guitar softly behind Glenn is very touching.
Jay Dugas, in the early 80s (noted Louisiana guitar player) made a tape for me with Alone one on one side and Then Came Chet Atkins on the other .. I spent the rest of my life learning his tunes. It led me to others like Joe Passe and Jerry Reed .. l love you Chet, thanks for so many years of happiness.
Wow, look at all the greats! I just discovered this song. I absolutely love this song. I drive with the moonroof open and all the windows down, cruising through the mountains. Love it!
I am of Indian ancestry born in Brooklyn NY but moved to Houston, TX in 1979, I was like nine years old listening to Rhinestone cowboy jumping from couch to couch to that song. This song in particular is so sweet. I love this man and I love country music. I miss Texas and that down south country hospitality.
A gathering of greatness. So many gone now. Whenever I watch something like this a smile comes on my face that I have no control of. Much like many of the people watching him.
Glen Campbell, Roy Clark, and Chet Atkins were the reason I got my first guitar in 1975. I wanted to be able to make music like that. They made it look so effortless. Well, it's not effortless. Not in the least. I'll never be that good, and to think Glen was one of the most in-demand session musicians in history, across so many genres, and he never even learned how to read music. Just an awesome talent.
you see all the people in the background .....there Good !! but Glen Campbell ,He's the best ,and can never get tired of listening to him !!! That's the difference !!!
