The halve the weight of the operator does not it make sense because if I weight 300 it will be able to tow 150lbs but if my weight is 180 it can tow 90lbs? So the more I weigh the more it can tow lol. Or did i misunderstand this. Or is it halve the weight of the mower minus the weight of the operator? Aside from the weight of the mower.
I just bought the Maverick HD 54 inch with the Vanguard Briggs engine. It’s not grass season yet so I haven’t had a chance to use it but I hope it’s a great mower especially for the price I gave for it lol

If you're cutting lines, you have to be careful spinning the mower around or the back tire will dig a bare spot. Just take it nice and slow during the turn and then it's back to full throttle across the yard!

I have the Regular Maverick. I bought it spring of 2022. I mow 4 acres with it. I have the 54 inch deck vs. the 60 simply for mobility and getting around trees and other things. The seat upgrade really only makes a difference if you are mowing rough ground. The HD has a little bit more HP.... 26.5 HP vs. my 24 HP on the Maverick. HD has a Little larger spindles and hydro gears. To be honest, the regular Maverick is a beast over my old Zero turn. Its been able to take everything I have thrown at it. I am happy I did not spend $2K more the seat and 2 HP.
Thinking about upgrading from the Hustler Raptor SD 54 to the Maverick HD 60 for my 6 acres. What do you guys think about the top engine offering, the Kohler 26.5 hp EFI?
@applefarmservice2487, ummm bovine excrement! There are right and left tanks and fillers. If you don’t have gas in both, it won’t run for 💩, it will suck air. Arguably the biggest mistake Bad Boy made on it.
You guys forgot to mention that toward rotation tillers lift up and go over big rocks. Whereas, reverse rotation tillers have a tendency to pull them into the unit itself and binds it up. Reverse rotation tillers work best on previously maintained ground. Forward rotations work better on rocky soil. I have a reverse rotation and it’s great but when I’m opening up virgin ground, I find myself stopping every two passes to remove rocks from the tines. Regardless, I wouldn’t trade mine in for a forward, because my reverse rotation can just dig much deeper with fewer passes. Great content, very informative 👍
Interesting perspective and information. One question - if dealerships and box stores are getting “the same mower” the quality of the mower is only better because the dealer inspects it before delivering to customer and stands by the quality? I agree with the other comment - I look to buy at dealership because of customer service, maintenance/service, etc. But just was curious how the “quality” of the mower is different between box store and dealership when you said the mowers are the same. Thanks Logan! We should have been more specific, we carry brands like Bad Boy that other big box stores might carry. However, we also carry high end mower brands like Grasshopper, Exmark, and Kubota, that are only allowed at dealerships. The quality of all Bad Boys are the same whether you get them from us or a big box store, but dealerships normally carry higher end brands (like comparing Grasshopper to a craftsman or low end toro mower at Lowes).
I’d rather purchase a mower from a dealership rather than a big box store especially because big box stores don’t service anything they sell and I always try to support local businesses.
I agree with that, and it's a difficult decision. Where I live there's lots of mower/small engine repair shops around. In 5 years when it needs to be repaired, is the original dealer really going to do a better job fixing it?
