I already liked Jar Jar to begin with, but even without that, him able to hold his composure and keep lying in the face of grievous despite being obviously horrified is admirable

I know he's hated, but ya gotta give Jar Jar some credit here, he tried his best to stop bloodshed here. Honestly if they actually tried to do more with him and actually took more time and allowing him to evolve, I think he would've actually been a potential strategist if say like Padme and other officials had taught him the ways of diplomatic discussions.
