Hi Jane, thanks! I assume you’re flying in to Dalaman? If so it’s fairly straightforward, about 1.5 hours. Mostly major roads and a toll through the Gocek tunnel.
@@andyc882 Thank you so much for your reply. As we won't reach Dalaman till 8pm I think we'll opt for a taxi and hire a car while we're there. Thanks again Andy 👍
It was absolutely brilliant being there, everyone is very friendly and its history is fascinating. If you go I really recommend one of the free walking tours. You’ll have a great time!
Hi there, great vlog. Ive not done that side of Turkey, as a single 53 year old man where would you recommend? Ovacik, Fethiye, Olu Deniz or Callis? I dont mind a bar with some chilled music, but dont like loud etc. What would you recommend, I was thinking of Callis.
Hi, thanks for your comment, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Any of the places you mention would be pretty good, but çalis is definitely a good compromise of beach/bars/general life. Close to Fethiye too, if you fancy a trip into town 😁
Hi Andrew, thanks for the video! I will go with my three teenage boys. and I heard something about going to islands, fishing, seeing lions in natural reserves etc. It looks like you mostly chilled there or was there anything else that caught your eye?
Hi! Thanks for your comment, we didn’t really do too much outside of the hotel on this trip to be honest, but if you walk south along the beach you’ll get to Ponto, which looked pretty interesting. There’s a lot of people looking to try and make a few quid from you, so be prepared for a lot of chats!
We didn’t actually pay any extra in the end, we just asked at reception and they had a room that they could move us to so they did. They were very nice and we had a good time there, hope you do too!
Hi! Glad you liked the video, not sure if it was an autocorrect from you, or me mumbling again, but think you are asking about the dolmuş? They are the small minibuses that run locally.
Hi Barry, thanks for your comment! I film these using a GoPro and sometimes I leave it set to wide view as I”m quite often shooting from the hip when filming and this gives me a chance of getting the intended subject in frame!
Great scenery, great video, genuine people. The Scottish landscape is exceptional, especially off the beaten track. Did a day trip around Loch Lomond when I was studying at Glasgow Uni in the early 80s. Never forget those memories. No GoPros or Digital cameras back then, just a few grainy photos have survived. Watching you guys enjoying yourselves is wonderful.
Thank you, I’m glad you liked the video! We had a brilliant time on this trip, hoping to go back again before too long, there’s so much we didn’t get chance to see.
Hi, end of March might be a bit patchy, but you hopefully should get a few nice days. Beach might be a bit cool at that time of year for sunbathing, but reasonably warm I would guess
Hi Andrew, thank you for the upload. We're considering this location for a week at the end of September. Would you know if there's busses into Malaga and other nearby towns and also is there any decent supermarkets as were looking to rent an apartment so will be self-catering Thanks, Jen
Hi Jen, glad you liked the video, there are definitely buses to Malaga from Torrox, although we had a hire car so didn’t use them and couldn’t say how frequent they are. If you’re staying in Torrox pueblo there are a lot of small independent shops that will cover what you need, but if you are down on the Costa then there is a Lidl, Aldi and Mercadona. If you find yourself in mercadona (and you like red wine) I thoroughly recommend ‘The Guvnor’. The bottle looks terrible, but the wine is superb!
Hi Laura, if phone supports virtual SIMs then I thoroughly recommend ai the Airalo app. You can download it before you go, buy whatever data you need pretty cheaply and then activate when you get in country.
Hi Williem, we’re don’t tend to stay in the hotels in Ovacik, so couldn’t really give an option on whether any of them are good or not. Good luck though!
Hi Laura, if you’re reasonably fit you’ll be fine - Ovacik is a bit hilly in places but nothing too strenuous and you can walk to most of it without issues. There are regular dolmus on the main roads too. Hope this helps!
@andyc882 thank you Andrew 😃 we are staying at celay hotel so unsure how hilly? Also taking my mum so hopefully not too much for her as she is getting older now x
Haha, great video, especially the portrayal of the dull UK weather and montonimos rat race 😅 Its been 11 years since our last visit, but happy to say, weve booked a trip to the Gokcen hotel for the end of Aug 2023, yay! ☀️🌞😎
Hi Stevie, glad you liked it. I think overall the baobab was marginally better (better beach area, free canoe/sup/pedalos and more for kids if that’s important to you) but they’re both pretty close.
Hi Andrew. I am staying at the celay hotel in July and I wondered as you have a property in that area if you know it and have any recommendations of places to go with a 6 year old? Thank you 😊
Hi Laura, I don’t know that hotel but I don’t think it’s far from Orka world water park, which I think a 6 year old would love! If you are looking to go to the beach it is worth heading down to olu deniz and turn right where the dolmus drops you off to head to the blue lagoon ( it’s a lot more small child friendly than the main beach, s as the water is much shallower). I’m sure you’ll have a great time there as everybody makes a big fuss off the kids (especially the little ones)
@Andrew Chandler thank you Andrew I really hope she will love it 😀 ❤️ we have never been I'm just hoping that it's a nice first experience in turkey 🇹🇷 😀
Hi Pete, when we were there the mosquitoes were not a problem at all. Not sure if it was time of year (we were there early January), so couldn’t say what it would be like now… Hope you enjoy your trip!
Hi Lisa, we flew with Tui, it was all pretty good. We were there in January and had no problem at all with insects at all so fingers crossed you’ll be ok!
Hi Kath, glad you enjoy the videos! We're lucky enough to own the villa and we get out there as often as possible. I dive with European Dive Centre, based down in Fethiye. They're very professional and I've never had any issues with them (I took my PADI certification with them). Hopefully another video coming up soon!
@@andyc882 thank you for you reply. Its brilliant you own your own villa. Something I want to do in the future. I am certified through bsac (advanced Ocean Diver) but wanted to use a professional company when I visit oludeniz again. No plans this year yet 😔 but me and my family have been a couple of times and we all, even my children, paraglided last June. (Used deep blue who were so professional and offer insurance with their price). It was amazing and out of this world. It's good to know others that love oludeniz, ovacik and hisaronu as much as we do. Looking forward to the next video. Take care and enjoy. ☀️⛱️🌊
@@andyc882Hey , I am due to travel to Ovacik Dalaman for 4 days just to get away from the UK for a bit from 3rd October would be nice for suggestions I am staying at a place called Monta Verde Hotel & Villas trying to find things to do
Hi William, glad you liked the video! End April is a lovely time to go, it’s usually a little quieter and the weather is pretty good usually. There’s a chance you’ll get the odd day of bad weather but usually it’s pretty nice.
Hi Stephen, glad you liked the video! We didn’t take any currency, but if you want some cash it’s as well to use the atm at the airport as when we were there the hotel didn’t have an exchange. Hope you have a great holiday 👍
Hi Paulo, the beach along the frontage of the hotel is kept very clean (and that is quite a large area), however once you are past the ends of the hotel there is a lot of plastic waste on the beach up past the high tide mark. It’s quite sobering when you see the amount and is a real shame given the beauty of the beach.
Thanks Jordan, glad you liked it! You can walk easily for a good few miles in either direction of the hotel along the beach and once you get a few meters past the ends of the hotel you’ll have the place to yourself pretty much. All the staff are super friendly and pretty well all speak good English. Airport was pretty good too. Definitely a good experience there!
Enjoyed the video pal can you tell me what it is like in ovakic and is it quiet or lively at night?.. We are looking at holidays to Turkey and can't decide!
Glad you liked the video! Ovacik is pretty relaxed, a few bars and restaurants within easy walks but nothing too wild! If you’re looking for a more lively night out then Hisaronu has all the bars you could want. It’s a 20 minute walk down the hill (or 5 minutes on the dolmus). Hope you have a great holiday!
